  • The right light is that light, which supports the story of your photograph. After I had bad luck with the light over the last days, I managed to get it perfect - if something like that exists :) Landscape photography in the Dolomites is fantastic. Tune in, lean back, and relax!

    Hi everyone. I was looking at the CZcams home screen when I noticed this video. I live right in the Dolomites, and knowing that they are so appreciated makes me happy. thank you so much Christian for sharing my home with the world

      Hi @light_ackerman6972, honestly - I'm so jealous 🙂 Living straight in the Dolomites must be amazing For me it is around 4 hours to get to Tre Cime, with the van maybe even a tiny bit longer.
      But however, you definitely live in heaven. And I'm sure - or let's say, I hope - you'll like the upcoming videos over the next weeks, starting with this Saturday. Because I'm traveling right now and guess where I am 🙂 It would be great to find you in the comments again, to hear your opinion as a local 😉
      Nice greetings,
      Christian

    It doesn't have to have all that gorgeous color right out of the gate. thank you for showing us this!

      Hi Dietrich, there is definitely nothing bad with tweaking at the color, at all. Especially in fine art photography we should not shy this option, it can change the result really dramatically.
      Thanks a lot for watching and nice greetings,
      Christian

      Hi Michael, thank you so much, my friend! Oh yes, it was so enjoyable to be out that morning, finetuning the composition while the light turned better and better. I don't have words therefore, actually :)

      Hi Darren, thank you so much, buddy! I remember your winter video from Passo Giau, it was a great one! Yeah, it is definitely an attractive place for landscape photography also in winter. I guess there will just be no puddle there in winter, haha :)
      Thanks a lot and nice greetings,

    Ah... I've been on this one, several times, once, blasting through, passing cars, discs red hot at the bottom.... WOW!
    But, with my P67 & F1s, what a different trip... Selva di Cadore...

      Hi Lohi, Passo Giau is absolutely amazing, but there is really a lot going on, on the road, during the day. But it's really quiet at night, I have to say. And the morning was just gorgeous :)
      Have a great weekend,

    I'm new to photography I have the sony a7 ii and I believe the lowest iso is either 50 or 64 I noticed you mentioned keeping it on iso 100 should I use iso 50 if the light conditions are good and allow me to?

    • @wimair_at
      @wimair_at Před rokem

      ISO 50 is only useful if you need a longer exposure time. Dynamic range or quality shouldn’t be different (if anything it’s worse) than on ISO100 as ISO100 is the base ISO on Sony Cameras.

    • @christian.irmler
      @christian.irmler  Před rokem

      Hi Delpha, the best thing you can do is, trying to use always the native iso, if possible. Which one this is, depends on your camera. As I have also a Sony A7ii lying around, I know that iso 100 is the native one for this camera :)
      Whenever you change the iso, upwards or downwards, you will loose dynamic range. iso 50 is a good choice if you want to get a longer shutter speed, but you would have to increase the iso too high by using an ND filter.
      This is why I often do a trick here: Instead of decreasing the iso down from iso 100 to 50, I use a circular polarizer with the lowest possible polarization instead. It takes around 1 stop and will lead to a quite similar result, but without loosing dynamic range. But please consider that a polarizer could also change the visual weigths in your composition. Also look what the polarizer does, first ;)
      But there is definitely nothing wrong with using iso 50. It is much faster set up than screwing a filter on, when you need that quickly.
      I hope this helps. Nice greetings,
      Christian
