The Summit Of Retreat: Global NATO Is Finished | Amb. Chas Freeman

  • Instead of strengthening the NATO alliance and showing its power, the latest summit in Washington did the opposite, it laid bare its cracks, its failure to deal with reality, and its incapacity to respond to the unstoppable emergence of Multipolarity. It was a summit of retreat and will be remembered as the moment when NATO, instead of reinventing itself, doubled down with the same failed approach that ultimately leads to its demise.
The summit was a also an amazing show of undiplomatic visions of world-domination. However, there are luckily still people out there who understand the real meaning of all this. One of them is my guest today-a living legend of US diplomacy-Ambassador Chas Freeman.
Ambassador Freeman served as US Assistant Secretary of Defense from 1993-94, and as U. S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (89-92), handling the fallout of the Gulf War. He was the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during the historic U.S. mediation of Namibian independence, And he was Richard Nixons principal interpreter during his 1972 visit to China, which lead to the normalization of US-China relations.
Ambassador Freeman recently wrote a short but highly useful peace on “Diplomatic Professionalism” which I which each and every diplomat in the service of what ever country would be forced to read and internalise.

They spew platitudes about the Rule of Law, when the Rules they are talking about are their own rules that benefit their own country and to Hell with any other country. They accuse other countries of Terrorism, when they are the leading perpetrators of terrorism around the world. And the truly sad thing thing is, the population of the US either believes this rubbish, or is apathetic and paying no attention to the dangerous political agenda of their country’s Shadow Government

The NATO summit was political theatre and little else. Biden's fatal mix-up of Zelensky and Putin was just the icing on the cake. Both Macron, Sunak and Biden have been fatally weakened as leaders during the last two weeks, the EU Commission is weakened too, and all three parties of the Berlin coalition received a resounding thumbs-down at the EU elections which will almost certainly get echoed during further elections across Germany through the fall and leading up to next year's federal elections. These five governments are among the key cheerleaders and drivers behind the Ukraine war.
Also, during his remarks at the Thursday press briefing, Biden simply elbowed out all others within NATO by claiming that "I built up the coalition to support Ukraine and kept it in shape" - he alone! I don't think the European leaders were particularly happy about him saying that, but it's a typical example of US grandstanding.

The 56 incident was started by just a few hundred people, who wanted not to leave Socialism, or the Warsaw Pact but just like me, wanted to reform the Communist leadership...the Politburo and the Central Committee. We wanted younger, more vigorous people to lead us...not just old men.
That's what the Hungarian and Czechoslovakian protests were about...not as everyone in the west believed. Washington Propaganda gets under the skin of the western public, because it's repeated 24/7 for 50-70 years. But that never makes it truth.

Thanks again for bringing Ambassador Chas on. I think even him has broken through the propaganda machine and sees clearly now. I did not realise how important he was in the past based on his career so thanks for the refresher. I have listened to him a number of times and he is a smart , balanced, calm and rational man. We need more of him in the world.
Your channel is great by the way alongside The Duran. Great work. I wish you all the success.
In terms of the state of the world, phew who knows… I am sitting in front of a canal with graffiti in narrow distance with the inscription “ psycho Boris’s herd immunity”. The last two words has faded out but there is hope… it appears people are not complete automatons yet, that’s a positive.

Europe should be more concern about the detrimental effect of the american dominance over the whole world , and particularly over Europe itself.

  • @majormoolah5056
    @majormoolah5056 Před měsícem +4

Going through the history of the conflict feels redundant at this point. If you wish to be relevant to the peace talks, you should be specific about the terms of the peace and the strategic situation you seek to create. United States has made it perfectly clear that it does not want an European security architecture that includes Russia. This line of thinking goes back decades and I am sure Mr. Freeman would be happy to elaborate on this point. Saying that "this war ends in negotiations" is so anodyne that even Jake Sullivan is repeating this point. To end the war you have to understand the reason it exists.
The reason the United States designed this war was to exclude Russia from Europe both economically and militarily. Then the US can pose as the protector of Europe in order to dominate the Europeans. This is what the American strategic program dictates and they would never deviate from these objectives. If you read what the Americans have been saying from the beginning is that at some point this war will settle down into a stalemate. Then you have a Korean situation and US gets to dominate Europe without ever admitting defeat.
The Russians want something else entirely. They feel that the European security architecture should be OSCE, which is what France has also advocated for, going back decades. They also feel that as long as Ukraine has a Western-aligned government, they will sanction terrorism against Russia and that Ukraine will form a permanent security threat. Remember the American objective: divide-and-conquer between Europe and Russia. At any time the Americans feel that Europe and Russia are coming too close to each other, they could once again un-freeze the conflict at any moment.
The European leaders were, in essence, scammed into the war and now they cannot get out. The only way the Russians can break the deadlock is by winning the war, sadly, so that is what they will proceed to do. Americans could never make peace because that would be an unbearable loss of prestige for them. Americans also do not have the factories or the armies to be a leading player in European security anymore, nor can anyone trust any diplomatic effort coming from them. I highly recommend you read the Heritage Foundation report on American military power. The American forces in Europe today could not hope to overpower Romania. So the likeliest scenario is that Russia will push until victory is achieved and Americans cannot do anything but support Ukraine until that happens. Then we will certainly have a new strategic situation in Europe.
The only sustainable end this war can have is that Russia wins, United States pulls out of Europe and then Europe defends Europe and then comes to terms with Russia. This is also the end we are going to have because the American fiscal situation is so desperate that their nation will be bankrupt within a decade and cannot maintain its military presence in Europe. That being said, it is entirely possible that the Americans will go to war and use nuclear weapons in desperation to hang onto their dominance in Europe. So either the Americans will kill us or we will finally be free of them, these are the only options we in Europe have.
