  • S.L.Kanthan is a prolific geopolitical analyst, columnist and podcaster. In this conversation S.L. and I discuss the emergence of multipolarity and the shift in global power structure. Focusing on the goals of India in the BRICS+ bloc, we discuss dedollarization as a tool to maintain sovereignty, whether India and China will be able to overcome their differences, including the decades long border dispute and India's economic development goals. Additionally, S.L. and I spoke about the significance of the recent visit to Russia by PM Modi and India's reaction to Zelensky's criticism of the trip.

      We believe our own lies and get carried away by it; the US Govt. preaches human rights to everyone, forgetting that our own Republic was founded and flourished on slavery for more than 100 years, while our Constitution stated that "all men are created equal" from the first day of the Republic. Hypocrisy is our genetic makeup from day 1 of the Republic.

      The Chinese offered a great deal in the 60s. India rejected it and unilaterally seized disputed land. That lead to the 62 border incident. If china had kept the land instead of withdrawing, there wouldn't be any dispute today.

    • @gelinrefira
      @gelinrefira Před měsícem

      @@freedumb_3.0 yup, the Indians looked down on the Chinese and they thought they could take advantage of China. So they invaded the disputed land controlled by China, thinking they can have the cake and eat it too. But they got trounced by the PLA, and since then India has been sporting an inferiority complex.
      As much as they want to rise up, their system, and culture do not allow them to replicate China's success. I don't even see how a neoliberal westernised system in India can create the progress China created.

  • @ltribley
    @ltribley Před měsícem +56

    Excellent program. The India-China relationship is critical to the growth and stability of the Global Majority.
    *Please note that I have added several other very important issues not discussed in this program.
    Maybe it is now obvious to Indian leadership that the days of the US Empire, hegemonic power and influence over their sovereignty is over.
    The US seems to constantly abuse and dictate to India. It’s like an abusive marriage with India, time and time again, coming back for more punishment! So humiliating and destructive of their position in the Global Majority.
    It’s incredible how US influence and misinformation narratives generated for years inisde the country by US funded NGO’s has hampered India’s development. Even on CZcams, on some Indian channels you can experience viciousness and hatred toward China in some programs. CZcams does nothing about it.
    The joint US-India statement generated from Modi’s visit with Biden last year actually had India supporting the US Rules Based World Order and stated India would only support democratic countries. It also resulted in increased military support, and support of US containment of China.
    What does this tell you?
    *Several important issue not highlighted in this program.
    1. The hostiles toward China by the Indian government (national and local), politicians, and business sector has been far more extreme than described in this program. India has purposely inhibited Chinese trade in, and development of trade corridors across India benefitting all countries in the region.
    Chinese companies have been forced out, including indiscriminate fines against some companies. Their treatment has influenced other international companies decisions not to invest in India.
    One outcome is the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a $62 billion, 15-year infrastructure project from Pakistan’s Gwadar port through Kashgar and into China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
    It completely bypasses India.
    2. Indian military entanglement with the US, France, Israel, and NATO in general.
    To date it has supported US and French military expansion into the Pacific to intimidate China for a future war. Provided the US with a military staging base on an Indian owned island in the Eastern Indian Ocean. Approved France to ferry fighters across India to New Caledonia in preparation for conflict with China. Conducts joint military exercises, buys US weapons, etc. Supports Israeli trade, including laborers to replace Palestinians. In 2022 India was Israel’s largest customer for military equipment. India is Israel’s 2nd-largest trading partner in Asia and 7th-largest globally.
    ---
    Border & Millennia of Culture and Trade
    Centuries later, we still see the British destructive influences with countries around the world, as it is with India and the random border. It has also become a religious issue. The shape of the border apparently relates to a religious deity making it even more difficult to find a solution.
    For millennia India and China have had religious, philosophical, cultural, trade and economic development. The history is incredibly rich and there is more Indian influence in China, particularly in the West than acknowledged.
    One example. Last year we visited the Mogao Caves in the Western Gobi Desert, A UNESCO World Heritage Site along the Silk Road where there were significant Indian Buddhist influences over the centuries.

I'm a Filipino Canadian, I hope the Philippine government will realized that always patronizing with the United States of America does not benefit Filipino people at all. Lena, you do a great job! Your channel is very informative; thank you for putting in the work to keep us soberly & factually informed on the latest geopolitical occurences without resorting to infantile click bait titles. I also like the fact that you feature varied analysts who don't necessarily have a "western" bent primarily b/c they don't reside in the west. I find that they often have a more sober, realistic outlook on the facts on the ground esp on non western countries. They also have a rarefied, real scholarly background reminiscent of the marxist "old left" I find that a lot of (not all ) western analysts often try to pander to a conservative, western audience. Sadly there is an abundance of talk of weapons, war, military tactics or prowess, financial speculation & inauthentic omparisons of various western war mongers all devoid of any historical legitimate conversations on the roles of imperialism & colonialism
