And on top of that this is based on TCW’s artstyle, not even accurate to live-action and how commando armour would look there (not to mention that this is a reuse of Hunters armour which is noticeably pretty different from standard commando armour
I don’t overly enjoy that it’s based on the animation model and not the actual model from the games which is ment to represent what they would look like in live action, it’s just going to look weird next to live action characters which is hot toys whole thing with Star Wars

Even the animated one is not like that his armour is simply hunter repainted while in the show their armour are not 100% like hunter like the shoulders, knee pad and crotch armour
@@Darktrooper-mt5qu hunters amour is a reuse of the animation models used for Gregor and delta squad from earlier episodes of the clone wars it’s the exact same with some proportional changes it’s just annoying that hunters is now seen as the definitive one

As good old legends fan and multimedia I hope to God they don't use this body armor for delta squad and even regular white republic commando.
It's missing elbow armor, waist is different, shoulder pads has different design and much more bigger, gloves are way off has chunk for mini vibration blade, thigh are different, shoes need to be much chunk, wrist is different. Knee pads are different. I can go on lol. I'm glad they now decided to do commandos but man... for doing live action is just disappointing for me. Thank you for the review tho glad you enjoy it but man just a hasbro moment for me.

All these differences are because this is a reuse of Hunters mold who has modified commando armour with different proportions specifically for him. And this is based on TCW’s artstyle and not even live-action

Love. Glad I was able to snag one from Sideshow despite their nightmare queue system. Hopefully Hot Toys gives us the beefier Delta Sq. commandos at some point.

I think overall, it makes sense for this version of the commando to look the way it does since it is based on bad batch/clone wars art style. Fingers crossed, going forward, they do more of the original bulked up commandos, at least for delta squad or the battlefront molds. I also wish the gun had some paint applications on the magazine to replicate the shot counter from the games just as a little nod. Also if/when we do get Delta Squad I really hope some of the commandos have unique accessories such as scorch having det packs/explosives or sev having the sniper attachment rather than the grenade launcher
Fair enough! The issue is 99% of the time they take the animation look and go realistic, this is at odds with the look of everything else
It’s not even accurate to the TCW artstyle because this figures body is a repaint of Hunters who has different proportions and minor details
At least it seems everyone's on the same page with the general consensus of this figure. I agree that the choices made in the design of the blaster mold is very telling for their future plans.

As Justin said, we will definitely get a republic commando especially given the fact that they made the blaster customizable. It will most likely be Scorch we get however, as he is the only delta squad member that is reusable as a republic commando and for the Disney show

Awesome review Justin! I can’t wait to get mine in soon. I agree with you, hopefully this means we’ll be getting Delta Squad and other Republic Commando variants. Republic Commando is one of my favorite video games of all time, and I’m so glad Hot Toys has started making commandos. I’m just hoping that this is the only variant that they make limited. If they were to make any member of Delta Squad or Gregor or any of the generic white/shiny commandos limited, it would be a complete travesty. I absolutely do not like Hot Toys making clone troopers limited in any way

Great review! I like this figure, and what they did with the light up helmet is sweet. It's shocking how fast they were ready to release from just announcing it. Also would you be interested in reviewing more 3rd party 1/6 scale Resident Evil figures?

the shoulder pads are supposed to flare out like it although i understand u may not like it as you said it is the accurate way and they flare just a tiny tiny bit too much it really doesnt bother me

I'm not too salty about the proportions the more I look at this fella (except the height is terrible). I do feel they were a bit lazy with how much they translated from hunter, but I really just look forward to seeing what they do with future commandos, because those will be the ones I'm most interested in buying

This figure isn’t accurate. It’s just a repaint of Hunter, so the overall design and proportions are off. Hunter is basically wearing a modified, more streamlined version of the commando armor, so while they’re similar, they’re not 100% the same.

I got lucky with Sideshow's PO lottery and secured one. Now, i'm hoping Hot Toys will consider a plain white regular release sooner rather than later. I need a couple to flank this one as well as a couple TK troopers.

ya unfortunately they just copy and paste the figure from the black series. I always find the body like you said skinny and the helmet too big. It makes him look like a "funko pop" could it be better? haha ya. But I do like the color scheme as it the same as the kamino trooper.

They did the same thing Hasbro did ALMOST verbatim, at least this commando got his proper chest piece with the ribbed neck area, other wise its just a hunter repaint, i guess from a company stand point, reuse is the way to go, but when the parts you're reusing are inaccurate to what you're trying to make, why bother? weird that somehow, NOBODY from Hot Toys saw the backlash that Hasbro received for doing this,
"they will buy it anyways" Hot toys knows it well, why would they bother getting a completely new mold, when they can just repaint Hunter and it will sell just as well. They don't care about the minority critisizeing it. 😢

Because this is a limited event exclusive, they produce them in advance in far less quantities so there is no pre order window

After watching video: Still awesome, but FIX THE SCALE, WHY IS HE SO SHORT!!! Looks pretty great though, definitely need the hands you said with Delta Squad, actually ALL THE HANDS EVER!!!

This is literally a Hasbro moment.
An animated style Hunter repaint with a realistic battlefront 2 commando helmet.
It is inaccurate to the animated design, becouse it still has Hunters unique modifications, being more skinny than a regular commando, and it has a realistic helmet.
And it is inaccurate to the Realistic design, as exept the helmet it has the animated style body proportions (not to mention it has Hunters skinny proportions, wich are absolutely inaccurate to the regular commandos).
The only difference between this figure and Hasbros is the pricetag. For this price, it should be at least be an accurate depiction of a commando armor. Now even if they will ever do Delta Squad, or at least Scorch, they would definetely all have these half animated, half realistic, Hunter proportions, meanwhile if they made an actual realistic commando based on the battlefront 2 model, they could repaint it multiple time and it would sell well and would be accurate.
