    Annette, I love your recipes and Im grateful that you got me hooked on Haitian food. But I think it would be great if you can come up with new recipes, as I see a fair amount of repeats of older (fabulous) recipes. It would also help your channel to get more subscribers!
    Have a blessed New Year!

      I repeat some of my recipes because of the requests I get on Instagram. The older videos are so far back and they sometimes have trouble finding them, so they say. Also, when I repeat the videos, If you compare it’s slightly different. Lastly, I am thankful for the subscribers I have but that’s not my focus.

    Happy New Year Annette D’Or! Where is the parsnips missing in the soup? Lol😂🎉

    • @dorannette26
      @dorannette26  Před rokem +1

      We don’t eat parsnips, so I don’t put it in my soup. By the way, the older generations didn’t add parsnips to soup Joumou.

      @@dorannette26 oh! I wonder how my mom who is from okay knew to put parsnips in it?

    • @dorannette26
      @dorannette26  Před rokem +1

      @@SkySpiritFan .. I am referring to my grandparents generation and back! Your mom adding it doesn’t mean it’s traditional, it only means that’s how she was thought or she may like it and added it to her soup. Keep in mind of the history of how soup Joumou came about. No one has the original recipe! We are going by what we were taught and along the way we add or subtract ingredients. The star of the soup is pumpkin. I enjoy chatting with you.

      @@dorannette26 Cool! I actually have since deviated and moved my way of making it by adding other root vegetables like plantains, white & yellow yautia, yuca, patate, malanga and other I see at the supermarket.

    • @dorannette26
      @dorannette26  Před 7 měsíci +1

      My mom adds it to bouyon and other dishes but just not soup Joumou. That’s the way she was taught. She’s 82 , so she’s definitely not going to start adding it now.
      By the way, her soup is the bomb!! I have family members that still stops by every year to get her soup.
