Alex: This song is way damn long
Me: *Laughs in IOWA*
Nokay: Iowa is long
Me: Laughs In Behold the Kingdom of the Wretched Undying by Infant Annihilator
Leechick: Laughs In Behold the Kingdom of the Wretched Undying by Infant Annihilator
Me: Laughs in MX by Deftones
@@zwackel6790
*Laughs in the Rise and Fall of Bossanova by PC III*
@@zwackel6790But that was is just long because it has like 30 minutes of silence and two secret tracks. Iowa is a full on 15 minute experience. I don't know about the 17 minute black metal song that the other guy mentioned
Song was long? Wait for iowa title track
Jashan Rao really 😂 14 min + 😁
He might not do it
Pyg System he has to, it part of the album and it’s the albums namesake.
@@MetalRocksMe. I know but I just worry that he'll say it's too long to do a video reacting to it
He might just edit it down, but I worry that it's not a great song for a reaction video. It took me till this year to really appreciate the song. I put it on while I was by myself driving in the middle of nowhere and the song really hit me, but he is just doing a reaction video on youtube staring at the computer. It's not the best mindset and place to really feel it. It's almost like funeral doom. It's all about atmosphere.
Gently, Skin Ticket, and Iowa are the darkest songs on the album
i would disasterpiece on there too because it's about corey taylor fantasizing about killing his childhood bully
And Metabolic
Anton yea Metabollic was soo dark
Metabolic
Don't Forget Metabolic
Fun fact, this was the first song written for the album. Which lead to the dark atmospheric tone for the album
Oliver Shreds
I’ve listened to it when it first came out
This entire album is one big raw nerve. Pinched, twisted and painful. I'm loving every minute of this album reaction.
best description ever i think for this album they where all going thru some heavy shit an heavy drugs
Hip-hop Head REACTS to SLIPKNOT: "Scissors".
Arthur Silva and Eeyore
Up
And Prosthetics
Lucas Santos he just need to do the whole debut. 🙌
Eyeore, Eyeless, Liberate...Fuck it, the whole first album.
Zero and zero nothing but zero means Iowa= the middle of nowhere. Running and running going on forever means there is nowhere to go, and he can't get out. When he says starving for zero, I think he means that he is STRIVING for nothing, and he wants something, and feeling, but there is nowhere to get it. When he says come see my cage built in my grain, I think he means the obvious... I am stuck here, and I have nowhere to go. But also, I think he means See me, my cage, my creation. It makes him ache and hurt. He can't think. He has lost his mental picture of himself. This place he needs to escape. He needs life, and he needs to feel, but he can't. He can't see the world through his eyes, because he is stuck in his cage. His home. And when he says keeping myself alive through your EMPATHY, I think he means that WE are keeping him alive by our understanding of his lyrics, and his life and feelings. I think this song and all the others were meant to be figured out by us. He wants us to understand him. He needs someone to understand him, because no one ever did. He is counting on us. He needs us. If there are people out there that understand what he is trying to say, I believe he escaped his cage."
That's really deep and interesting but I think you nailed it. Can we get some thumbs up so Alex sees this?
Great analysis. Also isnt there alot of grain grown in Iowa? So when he says "come see my cage built in my grain" maybe he means the house in Iowa he lived in he feels like he cant escape what happened there when he was younger? I dont know but its just another theory but i think you are pretty spot on
I think you are totally correct! ALEX NEEDS TO SEE
Geeez, is this a quote from the band or something you've thought of? It makes perfect sense, it's fucking spot on
I think i saw an analysis like this one on some website somewhere with the lyrics. Very very similar actually. I think you nailed this. Aside from just being some crazy emotional rollercoaster i think it is a song quite literally about iowa. Not the song but the place lol
Would love to see you react to "Scissors" by Slipknot....c'mon everybody, like this so Alex sees it!!
Yes Alex do scissors
@@KoRn_NuTT 🤘🤘
I remember playing Scissors in the kitchen at work. My boss was like "what the fuck is this?"
Purity.
The beginning of scissors gave my ex gf a nightmare back in 2000. Was listening to it for first time in a dark room at night, we both got creeped out in the beginning, the song ended, then about 30 min later she woke up screaming.
One of my favorite songs from Slipknot! The raw emotion in Corey's voice gets to me everytime...
He doesn't have that anymore unfortunately, but on the other hand he is in a much better place in life
@@Lambag-Daniel True... and True ;)
Hands down one of my favorite slipknot songs. Haunting and brutal
Especially the ending…. Wow!
I always loved the buildup in aggression from 4:23 - 5:55 and how heavy and just visceral and out of control the screaming of Corey gets together with the slamming instrumentals 🤘
You think that song was long. 🤣
I've been waiting to see what he has to say about Iowa, song is a trip man
I cant wait until he reacts to Iowa
IOWA
IOWA feels like 4 if you get sucked into it
Wait till he gets to Iowa lmao
this was Slipknots heaviest and hardest album for the band to make, it took its toll on most if not all the members. one of the best albums from them in my opinion.
Slipknot - Prosthetics 🤷🏻♂️
Most underrated song
Prosthetics and purity are both dope
my most fav next too tattered an torn an Iowa
This song and Gently are the two songs off this album that take some time to grow on you but then good lord do you start appreciating them and the emotion they bring along. You just have to be in a right mood to feel that, I think, they definitely aren't for a casual listener.
That slow part with the eerie sustained guitar or synth in gently always gets me haha
...i actually think Gently is just fine... now Skin Ticket in the other hand is amazing.
Next up: NEW ABORTION!!!! (Underrated song! Great song!)
Eternal's Way Meta-fucking- BOLIC!!!🤟🏾
So intense 🤘💞
I wouldn't say it's underrated, my friend.
It is I agree with you my friend! I go batshit crazy when it comes on in my playlist!
new abortion, skin ticket, the shape, metabolic. so fucking dankly furious, ghost rampage, deranged pulsation
so excited about you reaching the song "The Virus of Life" hopefully you do someday
Fuck yes!
Still probably my favorite slipknot song. Well, that and Gehenna.
My favorite!!🤘🏻
@@maris2559 well i guess you got an amazing taste of music
@@askmeab0utmylobotomy yeah always sinking into it when listening to gehenna
The song is actually about Iowa and how Corey felt trapped in Iowa.

You should react to SCISSORS by Slipknot, my personal favorite song and tons of emotion in the song, I’m also enjoying the album reaction a lot, keep up the good work!
Absolutely
That ending was the best thing I have ever heard
Please do "Eyore"
and "Scissors."
Eeyore*
He should react to the Scissors that is 19:19 minutes long. Which plays Scissors, then Corey Taylor and the band talk about scat porn, then plays eeyore.
If you want to hear it look up: Slipknot - Scissors or look up: Scissors + Eeyore
Big Up Liquid Chilli there’s always that one guy.
This track is the definition of sinister.
6:08-6:22 This kind of stuff always seems to come out of an album produced by Ross Robinson. Emotional catharsis. Much like how he brought that out of Jonathan Davis in songs like Daddy.
There is nothing better than how his voice is just trembling with rage in the slow parts.
This and Iowa are the perfect songs to get anger out of your body.
One of my favorite Slipknot songs so far.
*SHOGUN FULL ALBUM REACTION PLEASE*
Hell yes!
i couldnt agree more ma , Shogun is a fuckin masterpiece!!
Fuck. Yes.
React to (Slipknot - “The Virus of Life”)
weird? title track "iowa" gonna be weird :D (btw best track on this album)
Skin Ticket is a masterpiece! Great reaction, as always! Also, you should check Jim Root's interview to Kerrang Radio, here on YT! Such a nice guy! He talks about the new album and how this stupids comparations with Iowa doesn't make sense! Maybe put in the start of your next Iowa reaction just to make clear for some people!
What Jim says makes complete sense. It's true with all bands. Different periods in their lives contribute to the different sounds of each album. That's why i never hope an album will sound like a previous one. However, the reason people may get upset if this album doesnt sound like Iowa, is because Corey literally said it's gonna be "Iowa levels of heavy." If he hadnt said that, it wouldn't be as bad.
@@TheAspiringFitnessGuru agreed
Just as JD said if Corey never said what he said nobody would compare new album to Iowa...
@@MarukagePlays that's not true people constantly compare everything Slipknot ever does to Iowa
@@Flapperdude12 True but they would compare it on much lesser scale if Corey didn't say what he said so...
You think that's weird? Just wait for the last song called Iowa, bro :D
corey recorded it bloody and naked.
@@devilhunterdante5863 I know. Makes it even more strange but also awesome.

@@devilhunterdante5863 We don't need to hear somebody repeat the same sentence every time the song is mentioned. Shut up already.
Was addicted to this song when I first heard it still one of my fav slipknot songs
You catched the emotion and pain on this song. Now you need to go watch a live version. There is not any "official" release from the song, but there his some good versions from live shows and you need to see how Corey act in this one! Go do it braaa!!
This is one of my all time favs from them. Masterpiece
I didnt know there was a live version of this song im going to watch it now.

I will not get tired of saying it, reat to "gehenna"
Well I am, he should react to Arise by sepultura..
Molten cores boss?
I’m enjoying this one a lot
Also here again to ask for an eventual reaction to “I Speak Astronomy” and/or “Words of Wisdom” by Jinjer
Been asking for more Jinjer for months, hopefully Alex listens soon lol. Teacher, Teacher is amazing too
Tatiana has already finished up vocals for another new album, hopefully it's even better than their latest one
@@what7884 damn, she is putting in work huh. They honestly should chill out a bit, then have been busting ass the past couple years. Id hate to see Tatiana hurt her voice from over recording and playing live too much.
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't released for awhile. Their latest album is still pretty fresh
Scissors after Iowa is finished :D
I normally cant listen to this song with out shedding a little tears... its so deep
the ending of the song is fckin banger
Just wait till you hear Iowa. It took me about 10+ listens as a Slipknot fan before I began to appreciate its length and simplicity.
I'll be honest. I never r Alize's until now just how many times he screams "Keeping Myself Alive" at the end of this song
Same
"I wonder why he said the lyrics like that" 😂🤣
Because alex; he was crying.
really?
@@JockyCGE i agree with you, that is most likely what happened.
You should do Pantera Vulgar Display of Power next
Yes! Next full album reaction!!!
I always connected to this song in a way of self worth and hopelessness. Keeping myself alive repeated over and over to me is just being stuck in the mundane and keeping myself alive is all I feel like I'm doing. Stuck in my cage in this grave doing my time.
I feel like this song could easily be a Korn song
I literally just referenced Korn in a different comment lol
Korns never really been this heavy tho
Corey definitely reminds me of JD in this song. Kind of doing that cry/sing/scream thing.
Mr.SoloDolo Life is Peachy disagrees lol
@@SoloDoloToker You don't think so? I think Korn is incredibly heavy, just with a different sound. I mean Somebody Someone is heavy as fuck.
You sir are spot on, recognizing the emotional part of this song. Repetitive but good!
His analysis are always good
Please after this album check out Fit For a King-"price of agony" and also "Backbreaker" is a great song and has an incredible 20 second scream at the end!!
This Song just feels like something gets out of control. Not like a Chaos in Disasterpiece but...it seems like a slow build up into Insanity
One of my all time favorite Slipknot songs.
A Day to Remember - Violence [Enough is Enough]
The breakdown will wreck you.
Gay
@Cujo Mar, everyone has their own tastes in music, even though I myself am not a big fan of that group, and you clearly not either, there's no need to treat others like shit and call them names. The metal community is so wide and diverse, if it wasn't, it'd be pretty fucking boring.
Dude hardly you'll find an album as heavy, brutal and (calling you) DOPE as hell like IOWA \../
I absolutely love that you are checking out older slipknot :) now it's time to check out other bands older stuff...avenged sevenfold would be a great one to check out next....unholy confessions or remissions
Yes , avenged self titled full Album
Also Self Title Album's most tracks are have emotional screaming and vocal too. Purity, Scissors and more..
React to thoughts and prayers by motionless in white
You kind of got it.
The song is just an emotional release.
It goes on too long 'cos it's meant to, it's meant to over stay it's welcome ... just when you want it to end, it keeps going, just like life. Him chanting for the last minute (or however long it is) is the thing running through your head (if your suicidal or whatever) "Keeping myself alive, keeping myself alive ...."
Then at the very end he says it very defeatedly, the rest of the time he is enthusiastically chanting it, like what I imagine running a marathon is like "just keep going, one more mile, just keep going ...." and then when your body is 1 second away from giving up you defeatedly say "just one more mile" ... your mouth is saying it almost out of habit but your body has given up
Nomadic - Slipknot (I know its for other album but its freaking badass)
The release of torment in this song is awesome. Always loved this one as a fill song to lead into the next story. Also the beginning of the song was looped on their website when Iowa came out which is probably why it still resonates.
If this man doesn’t react to S/T we are gonna have some issues. I think it is even better than Iowa. Imagine him hearing Scissors 😂
by far the most underrated song on Iowa, that and New Abortion man I swear!
Damn this song still gives me chills after all these years, so emotional and anger filled.
Will we get a reaction video to the Disasterpieces DVD?...Asking for a friend...
Shogun is whole masterpiece! React to full album!
Right now, Alex Hefner's cage is made of books to study XD
Hip hop head reacts to the gray chapter full album a slipknot album
Self titled needs to be next before anything else as far as a full album reaction
The gray chapter is my personal favorite knot album, hope he actually does a full album reaction of that one day
Lukkern I’m sure he will eventually I want the self titled album next!
07:09 GIVE MY CELLPHONE NOW!!!!!
Let me give you some gems.
Scissors and The Virus of Life.
These lyrics are something else.
I love Slipknot so much!!! Their brutal music makes me happy :)
You gotta do Slipknot’s self titled bro, particularly: Diluted, Prosthetics, Purity, and Scissors
I’m really liking these album reaction videos, especially with slipknot, you get to really feel and experience what each album means, I think you should really do all of them, but Iowa is just this gritty disgusting visceral piece of art that terrifies you and makes you feel emotionally unstable, just like Corey and the rest of the band while making this album, it’s a true masterpiece
REACT TO SCISSORS SLIPKNOT
Do Holly Hell by Architects next!!
Yes, please!
Holly Hell: the new Christmas album from Architects 😂
I love this song its intense it does sometimes makes me cry because i can relate to this song
When you play Skin Ticket backwards "KEEPING MYSELF ALIVE" becomes "I LOVE MYSELF"
Good ol serial killer Corey is best Corey skin ticket is so creepy in the best way
One of best song by slipknot.
Hey Alex make sure you don't skip the Iowa song you gotta listen the whole way through for the full effect
Damn that was brutaaaaal now I know why Slipknot has alot of fans .. Woooooooow…
I was in love in the void for some years and I longed for nothingness and void ..and I really can relate to that song ..

I can’t fuckin wait for Metabolic!!!! Just straight intensity and fuckin heaviness 🤘🤘
Metabolic and Iowa are next
And New Abortion, even though that's already out
Just when you thought you knew what to expect from the mighty knot😂😂😂
Metabolic and Iowa...so close and can’t get here quick enough. Life changing 😂😂😂
The best slipknot song you’ll hear
Love perspectives on slipknot and metal in general.been really cool watching you develop your metal tastes
What I got from this is that he is experiencing a depression, singing about how he sees the world around him. Nothing interests or attracts him no matter what he tries ("zero and zero is nothing but zero"), he despises society and life in general ("cancer and people conspire together"). He wants to find a release and leave it all behind but only sees suicide as a way out ("my cage built in my grave": he's trapped in that situation until he dies). The only reason he doesn't commit suicide though is the empathy of a loved one, the only thing he keeps fighting for ("keeping myself alive through your empathy").
In the end, the struggle becomes too great and you hear that his will to resist is ebbing away because the "Keeping myself alive" is getting weaker and weaker towards the end. The last time sounds like a person who just ran a marathon and collapses at the finish line, with only the eerie, shrieking background noises still going on (the world keeps turning, even though he is gone). This is my interpretation of the song though so I could be miles away from what Slipknot actually tried to convey in this song...
Its not “my grave”, its “migraine”. (:
I know you’ve been doing a lot of Slipknot, and other than the Slipknot haters I think we’ve all been enjoying it. HOWEVER, next song by them you could do is The Blister Exists
I love Slipknot and this song but I have always felt like this song is Ross Robinson's attempt to "Korn" Slipknot up a little. RoRo has a way of pulling fucked up emotional responses from singers and creating a rawness and feel that I've never truly heard replicated imo. But I always get a vibe from this song that reminds me of Johnathan Davis from the first two Korn albums. Just raw unadulterated rage and pain.
Alex I'm so happy your doing this album I've watched all of these videos so far and your doing a great job dude. Keep crushing those books as well. You fucking rock! 🤘🤓🤘
Meet.Feed.Kill.Repeat an underrated album(!) from Slipknot.
Some interesting and even avantgarde stuff in there (Do Nothing/Bitchslap for example).
One of my favorite Slipknot songs!!
Who’s gonna tell him about Iowa title track 😂
Slipknot-Eyeless
Leading up to this song the album equates people, the music industry and society in general, to an eventual zero-sum, nothing we do matters in the end, yourself included, it is all shit. When you come face to face with the reality in consequences of that zero-sum in humanity and yourself, it can very easily break you. Skin ticket is that break. It is raw anger and emotion. The only thing keeping him alive at this point is the love other people have for him (fans perhaps?) because he now sees himself as just a contributor of that zero-sum. Before when he was talking a big game and stroking his ego, he now realizes that he is nothing not even to himself. He tries to remain logical about it and say that this feeling is only because it is ingrained in him (also my grain could be a play of words on "migraine" as in it hurts to even think about it and he is trapped by it like a "cage"), but at the same time he can't deny his emotions on the subject either and all things considered his emotions are very real to him. So maybe there is more than just a zero-sum to look forward to...? I love this song, you can just bang your head, pound your fists and beat your chest while being honest with yourself because the lyrics are pretty simple and not the focus of the song. The focus is on how the song makes you feel and your ability to just... let it out. For me, it is so cathartic.
Skin ticket on of my most favorite songs when I was a teenager
We tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
Fuck it
I REALLY FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!
His face at 3:03 is awesome
Oh this song was the one I heard live before my jaw got broken in the mosh pit but the actual song I broke my jaw on was disasterpiece but still a maggot since 02
I think you got it spot on with it being more of an emotional release song than a lyrical song. I think he said the last line like that because he was tired of "keeping myself alive" and trying. He just wanted to give up. Also i think he kept repeating that line as though almost saying it to himself as in if he says it enough then it becomes true. I dont know but just a thought maybe thats why he repeats it so many times. Hes trying to stay alive but doesnt know if he can. Great video
Absorb the Beauty hip hop head!!!! The hibby the hibby to the hip hop rockin ya don't stop 🤘😝🤘
You keep listening to individual songs and not hearing the entire album as a whole, I think that's why you find this one so weird but I know when I listened I was like..hmmm that fits, keeps the sound changes the pace but keeps the tone, keeps that intensity and sets up for the next song. I like it.
See, he describes this song as emotional. This is why you should've listened to the album version of Everything Ends. There are parts of that song that are pretty emotional too.
I suggest you to react to the count of Tuscany from dream theater
Love the drums.
