Yep ive been watching vocal teachers talk about his range, and growls. But she mentioned because he uses his throat it takes its toll on the vocal chords. One guy said his physiology helps, he's one of these guys who was made to scream lol. Hes gone slighter deeper, but still that power and rang is amazing.
@Joe Figueroa wow you obviously have no idea about doing vocals or slipknots history. CT himself said his old technique was shit because he nearly ruined his voice forever.
Joey sounded pretty whack during his final run in Slipknot. His live performances sounded like he wasn't even trying anymore. He was playing the songs slower and changed things that made the songs sound less intense. It could possibly be because of his condition which lead to him having to be let go, but I'm just speculating. I think Jay is a great replacement, but I really don't like the sound of his drums live. Sounds pretty good in the studio tracks, but sound kinda weak live. As far as a technical level, neither of them are really all that. They're both great for what Slipknot calls for, but there are thousands of drummers who make them both sound like amateur's.
I really miss Corey's IOWA era scream. I know he had to change it in order to not destroy his vocal cords, but DAMN during Self Titled and IOWA he sounded so vicious. Those are still some of my all time favorite vocals. Now days he sounds like a super tamed version of this. He got SLIGHTLY better on WANYK, but his cadence is still kinda weak now. You can just tell that he isn't angry anymore.
Beacuse ik that my plauge is the next song in the album, pls dont react to the official video. Its soft version, react to the audio version way more havier!!

When it comes to their first two albums, you actually should hear the studio version before the live one. They always change the songs up live, plus it's hard for any audio equipment to capture these guys (9 different instruments, and 2 to 3 different background vocals behind Coreys) live🔥 Edit: Basically, unless you're actually there, you'll never know what these guys sound like live.

Definitely right about the screaming. Back then he was straight shredding his vocal chords. Dude almost lost his voice permanently. Around the third album he began making his transition into singing correctly.
Corey has now got his technique at a place where he can protect and preserve his vocal chords but IOWA era growls are definitely my favourite.
