Interesting, but I would have liked to see the violin when you marked it with a pencil and how you made the adjustments on the new bridge with the chisel.
Could you clarify - is the less expensive, Chinese bridge better for a very bright violin, or the European one? Is a Despiau 1 tree better for very bright violin than a 3 tree? Maybe a low cost Korolia, Teller, or Bosch is better than any Aubert or Despiau? (I have no idea how to buy a Chinese bridge blank.)
Mr. Daniel, how far in cm should the notches be on a med size or taller bridge for the strings? I love your videos ...what books would you recommend for learning sanding the old varnish resin and re varnishing my violin also? Regards Lisa
Lisa, I know it's been a year but, if you never found out about how far the strings should be in the notch, it's 1/3 rd of the diameter of the string. They should not be barely riding on the bridge but, they should not be deeply imbedded in the bridge. Hope this helps.
hello Daniel, as you mentioned, to choose a bridge for your violin, you need to determine if a lower or higher pitched bridge suits you. also, if the heart (or the arch) is higher or lower. question is, for a new instrument, how do you determine which is good? you make one anyway and based on the sound you cut another one?
@@AVDanielViolin I mean no disrespect. But I truly wanted to learn this. Please if you can do one we can see. I would help but I don’t know what country you are in.
@@sting1111 this video is made in Australia, by the time I had to show how to do it and held the camera at the same time, I have only two hands, sorry about it. I am a Norwegian living in Japan and USA, and I have many many videos about violin making and repairing, please watch them all, you will learn a lot.
Hi i have an old French violin with a shorter body Stop than usual (about 190mm measured from the treble side) the body length is 355mm and the neck length is 130mm. What do you think i should do about the bridge position? Should I ignore the f nicks?
This is just a footage of comversation of men, I can not see how techni he uses on fitting at all. BTW, thank you for this footage, I can imagine while watching.
@@AVDanielViolin Actually , you could have someone holding the recording device or aim it at the violin instead everyone faces. This was really rather useless.
violin exclusive tick for the feat: sand the feed, hold them into realy hot, boiling water for a few seconds, use a paper towel to remove water from the surface and put the bridge on the instrument. Put the strings on, but with less tention than normal. leave it for a few hours, tune the violin et voila, you set up your bridge
I learned about seating the bridge,. however next video, put the camera on your work ; the bridge , the fiddle etc. :) cheers to you !
I’m the type of person that needs to know the in and out of my violins...sound bar, repairs and everything else with it.

Dear Daniel, your faces are beautifull but wie need to see what you try to show us... 😭
