@@coalkingryan881 Bruh since when did I say it wasn’t the Red Army Choir(I already knew that), plus the song is supposed to be sad since it describes how partisans have to leave there families and/or lovers knowing that they likely won’t make it back, but the RAC version in my opinion is stiff af since, it only sounds like they’re “singing” the lyrics as if they were stereotypical robots(as in not having any feeling in the words the say) which doesn’t convey much feeling, towards the listener, when compared to the Italian versions. It doesn’t need to be jazz, for it to convey feeling, as long as it is music, then it should be able to convey feeling, for example classical music can convey a dark, harmonious, and/or triumphant, feeling with the absence of words, if composed, and played well. Same thing with many other genres of music. But if music is badly composed and/or sung and/or played, then it probably won’t convey any feeling at all. Which is what I think happened to the RAC’s version of Bella Ciao.

      Italian history in 5 minutes:
      - yes, the Italian CLN included ALSO non-communist/socialist elements, most important being the Christian-Democratic (centrist oriented, strong tides with the Church, liberals and monarchists
      - not forgetting that part of the Italian army which stayed loyal to the crown (the Alpini corp first) but was unluckily located too North to join the co-belligerant army and the Allies in the South
      - it's also true that as the war ended, the Resistence rethoric and remembrance was taken more and more in consideration by the left, while the other sides of political spectrum stayed more neutral or even started to manifest annoyance for a perceived "ended story" or even open resentment (usually the right and especially the far-right)
That's why "Bella ciao" while being the de-facto symbol of Italian Resistence and anti-fascism, is seen as a "red song".

This version is derived from the one you speak of, but the lyrics were modified to fit the the time period. And one might say that not all the Rebel groups were Socialist, which is true, but most of them were. Not that it matters, Italy was Fascist, which is quite literally a variation of Communism.

This song is amazing! I love the lyrics the sound the feel. I'm garlic and Gaelic and always was proud of my Irish heritage but now the Italian has taken me over. Lol.

First off solidarity with my Italian comrades. I came to this video because I heard it sung by two Ukrainian soldiers and wanted to hear the original. My favorite thing about this song is it just gets angrier and angrier and more defiant and more defiant as it crescendos. As an American seeing the rise of fascism in his own country I think anger and defiance are what is needed to jolt people out of apathy. Resistance is not for the timid.

Now you've caught on to Fascism but the western world's past it. Typical Americans misconstruing European politics and failing to understand basic concepts.

@@siyacer I mean Fascism is a state based upon the worship of a leader figure. I hate the over use of the word but the Republican party fits a lot of criteria of Fascism. Aggressive opposition to Marxism (R is unhealthily anti-socialist), Opposition to Parliamentary Democracy (Rs are very quick to try to dismantle the power of Congress and Representatives to give more power to their leader, and in fairness that's a common thing between R and D when they're in power), Opposition to Liberalism (Rs heavily oppose social liberalism, LGBT, Equality movements, anything that values the individual over the state, again this is both an R and D thing and going forward assume as much I'm not defending the Ds), Totalitarian ambitions (I've met, and was close friends, with multiple Rs who wish Trump could stay in power for more than 2 terms, and wanted more central, Conservative Economic polices (self explanatory, favoring the private businesses over socializing them), and I could get going down the list of what Fascist parties of WWII had in common, (UK's Black shirts, America's KKK, the Italians, the Nazis, the Romanian, Polish, Austrian, Hungarian, South African, and Bulgarians) but the jist of it is both parties are moving in that direction are different paces and focusing on different aspects, but the Rs definitely are pushing in that direction with the whole worship of Trump. inb4 you accuse me of being a "dirty liberal" or whatever dehumanizing argument you will make, I'm ex-ancap no apolitical because there is not a single government that doesn't exist to fuck someone over

I find it an interesting coincidence that Mussolini was made Prime Minister in 1922 (later staging a military coup to seize absolute power), and here we are, 100 years later with yet another open facist in Italy running the country.
Lets just hope history doesn't repeat itself.
Except for the part where the facists get overthrown and humiliated, I liked that part.
