I was going for Illinois but I don’t think they would of kept up a fight against Stanford. Nebraska came back here and went 5 with Stanford. I even believe that if Minnesota (the #2 seed of 2018) didn’t loose to Oregon in the regional semifinal, that Nebraska would of beaten them in the regional final even though Minnesota beat them twice during the regular season, each 3 sets to 1. Nebraska was prepared and they had Feoke.
I never understood why Lexi Sun was the #1 recruit for her class. She’s decent now but her freshman and sophomore year were a disaster.
She was really good as you can tell but she just had many too many errors. Now she’s really good but Nebraska losing Foecke, it’s a lot of pressure on her 😖.
she’s 6’2-6’3, i’m not sure, and in high school nonetheless an OH gave her a good advantage hightwise. add in her decent serve and pass and her pretty great hitting, she was a giant force in the high school and club level. she was a pretty big flop but she’s improving.
She was really good her freshman season and led Texas in kills but then she lost play time due to injury and then she was out for 9 months and couldn’t get full health for sophomore season
she's a really powerful hitter but wasn't as court aware her first few years. she also probably shouldn't have played back row. she improved a lot last year though and watching her play this january for big ten season should be good
I loved watching Jacquelyn Quade play.
I like how these guys are so in awe of that dominate Stanford team like we hadn't seen that before. I think that florida loss the previous year brought out the best in them and might have be a good loss if there is such a thing.

They keep on mentioning Mikaela but she’s making just as many errors as everyone else.
but she also has more kills than anyone else, and passed over 85%. that's an amazing stat even if it was coming from a libero, and its coming from an outside. Like Kathryn plummer, she is a controversial powerhouse.

@@akashshan9104 but lexi is also very inconsistent. she hit just over .100 in this match which is not a great efficiency, while foeke hit .300. in the championship match lexi sun only tallied 7 kills hitting ONLY .030 compared to 26 by foeke hitting almost .300. foeke has just been consistently good for nebraska, which is why they’re gonna call her name a lot. one of the best outside hitters ever to wear a Nebraska uniform. i mean she was the tournaments most outstanding player in her FRESHMAN YEAR. just think about that.
@@oscorpio1365 I was talking in context of the match all in all foecke is a legendary player whose name will be mentioned for decades more of Nebraska volleyball. In this match particular I did hear her name a lot but no doubt she hit much higher percentage

I have champions in my blood ~ LITERALLY me and kenzie are cousins. I also am bragging on her bcs she is very very good. Her and her sister Mia really got me into volleyball and when I was younger did a program called kiva in which I still do and they helped out there. My school ( my team ) won a kiva championship against like 10 other schools and came in runner ups in the finals. I really want to play college vb like my older cousins lol. I don’t get to see either of them much since they moved but I look up to them because I love volleyball and think it’s awesome that an all American vb player knows her little cousin exists 😭✌
i know no one would probably answer but why does that one hitter (i think her name is capri davis) come in for nebraska. she’s literally in for one rotation
that’s a good question actually! capri davis gets subbed in for rotation 1 serve receive, where the opposite hitter has to hit on the left side. jazz sweet, nebraska’s usual opposite hitter, is a lefty, so that rotation is awkward for her because she’s a lefty being forced to hit on the left side. basically they bring capri davis in because she’s more comfortable than jazz sweet at hitting on the left.

Im confused why espn is making it seem like maloney and foecke both always played big roles for Nebraska? Foecke was a starter all 4 years but maloney only started as libero for 2 years ...
Maloney started as defensive specialist because Justine Wong Orantes (1st team All-American, now playing in TEAM USA) was the starting libero. Maloney contributed a lot but ever since she started as the starting libero, she become the top libero in the country alongside Hentz, White. She really do deserve the recognition.
Username • 15 years ago ... right but if you listen to how espn markets Nebraska like “package deal” they make it seem like both have played big roles all 4 championships when it was foecke all 4 years. Maloney was great but imo the credit deserved isn’t the same.
She was defensive specialist still so she contributed a big role still !
You Thought They’re saying they are “package deal” because they were both class of 2018 and because they both are big reasons to Nebraska’s success throughout their four years.
Well maybe it is because they both were playing in court when Nebraska won the 2 national championships. Maybe Maloney wasn't the libero in 2015 but she was part of quite a few rotations as a defensive specialist helping in the back row. That to me, at least, showed me the experience Foecke and Maloney got from these 4 years.

Refs call double when the ball spins fast when leaving a players hands. You can see how the ball is spinning and because of that, they called it a double. If it was half that spin it wouldn't matter but it was spinning excessively so they called it.
@@floralessence12 To add on to that answer, you can also see how, because of the run the setter has to make to get to the ball, her hands don't contact the ball at the same time. Her left hand gets there first and then her right hand. If that pass had been a bit higher then I think the setter would have had that extra half second to get herself fully into position to get the set off correctly. As an official, this one was an easy call for the R1.

mostly womens teams wear long sleeve, I actually think its quite fashionable.

@@georgeluzarito5439 from last i saw on her instagram she coaches or helps coach a girls varsity team!! they even went on to state so she is definitely finding success at the coaching level. she has however retired from playing professionally.
@@oscorpio1365 She is too young to retire. She represented US at VNL once. Hope she will play overseas as well. I'm glad also she's part of a coaching staff.

We know we can't take anything back, but that last challenge was not conclusive. A person's nerve can move an edge finger in a fraction of a second. Then again, the Nebraska girls may have been in a hut tub with the judges or ref after the game.
