    While I like Deborah I think she was mistaken in jumping down his throat like that. I don't think his intention was to limit her. So a bit premature? Yes.

    With coffee so popular and imho lack of awareness of the length of impact (takes on average 6 hours for the body to get rid of half the caffeine in s cup of coffee) this looks like huge overkill, there's too many people with perpetually stressed nervous systems and inadequate sleep already. Benefits very small compared to the side-effects.

    • @caffeinebullet
      @caffeinebullet  Před rokem +3

      Hi John, actually the half life varies massively based on metabolism and given that people who don't metabolise caffeine well don't benefit from caffeine use, they're very unlikely to use our product. The half life of regular caffeine users in practice is therefore closer to 4 hours. We're predominantly used for exercise and most people don't exercise close to bed time for similar reasons, so it's unlikely to be a factor. I'd also contest there's a lack of awareness, throughout my life I've repeatedly heard "I don't have coffee after x o'clock". We concentrate the effect of caffeine, the quicker in the system the quicker out, so we're actually less likely to keep you up at night, while improving performance.

    A lot of the negative comments here are the ones who are not runners.
    I have been competitively running for years and always strive for a PB on race day. I saw this on TV, and bought a pack. Not only does it provide an edge on race day, and give that extra adrenaline and cortisol release when the body is under-stress. The owner is a runner so he understands how the aerobic and anaerobic system works. It acts just like a coffee to get you started on your day.

      Kopiko has 20mg caffeine per sweet - a tiny amount. So to hit the optimal caffeine dose of 3-6mg caffeine per kilo of body weight, most athletes would need to take 12-18 kopiko. How can you do that during a marathon and even casually would be a huge amount of sugar and take a long time to do.....

    He done well to repackage and sell a caffeine hit to the Dragons as something that will be "the next big thing"...like there isn't thousands of caffeine loaded products already. Right Red Bull? I think he verged on snake oil salesmanship, I definitely wouldn't take his word on the speed of absorption into the bloodstream compared to a liquid, I would want to see some peer reviewed published papers on that. I was an endurance runner, nothing special but got under 2H40' for a marathon, under 33' for 10K so not too shabby. I remember hearing a scientist say caffeine can boost athletic performance decades ago, "have a cup of coffee about an hour before your event to maximise the effect" he said, which I followed and it worked for me.
    Nice cup of delicious filter coffee in the morning or a chew? I know what I would prefer.😉

    • @quitethevoyeur
      @quitethevoyeur Před rokem +1

      So interesting. Yeah snake oil was the phrase that came to mind as someone who does the odd 10k. The idea that there is some magic bullet that will get you to the gym when you really, really don't feel like it seems off to me and there is a weird lack of critical scrutiny from the dragons here

    • @DavidHellard
      @DavidHellard Před rokem

      @@quitethevoyeurSo someone with no experience in sports nutrition and if you only do the odd 10k, also no real understanding of sporting performance... Have you tried drinking a double espresso or a red bull, 5 hour energy? Do you know what a pre workout is? Imagine if they were in a magic pill - oh yeah a caffeine pill. This is the same except the caffeine is absorbed faster ...

    • @DavidHellard
      @DavidHellard Před rokem

      @smoothmicra ther are plenty of scientific studies, including this one www.researchgate.net/publication/11522368_The_rate_of_absorption_and_relative_bioavailability_of_caffeine_administered_in_chewing_gum_versus_capsules_to_normal_healthy_volunteers. You'd have found that with one google search, but is it possible you were keener to ell people about your running times than actually understand the science behind this? ;) A cup of coffee before a marathon is a terrible idea. You'll start too fast and then have a caffeine crash after 45 minutes, well before you're even half way into a marathon. You can also eat a bag of sugar before a marathon to ensure you've lots of carbs, but the science has moved on since then as it also has with caffeine....

    • @smoothmicra
      @smoothmicra Před rokem

      @@DavidHellard Yeah, that study concluded there 'may' be faster absorption from a gum vs a capsule, not a liquid drink but hey you have some research to support your product vs a capsule. Caffeine from coffee has been consumed for a very long time, that is why I mentioned it. A caffeine hit isn't new, but it seems to have been repackaged a hundred times as a wonder drug in various products.
      Anyway, no offence, if you can sell it in big enough numbers to give Red Bull a run for their money you'll be too busy as a rich man to worry about CZcams comments. I'm not convinced it brings anything new to the table but good luck with it.

    • @DavidHellard
      @DavidHellard Před rokem

      @@smoothmicra This video is going to be watched by thousands of potential customers so it's important that they understand that everything we say in the pitch is fact-checked in advance and the product does work in the way stated. There are multiple studies into the speed of absorption of coffee and it's slower. But essentially you can't have a coffee mid-race, or in your pocket, the strength of each coffee varies massively. Caffeine is a wonder drug when it comes to endurance sports and its repackaging allows for different uses with better results. Trainers aren't new, Vaporfly are, carbohydrates aren't new, hydrogels are ....
