- Dr. Gili Kucci experience within the pharmaceutical industry exposed her to far too much stress, this lead her to build a business that tackled those stresses but how will deal with a Dragon grilling? Dr. Gili Kucci is seeking £100,000 in return for a 20% equity stake in 'Kucci Kukui' a London based cosmetic company.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

That was embarrassing. Duncan, more patient than I've ever seen him, schooled the other Dragons on simple math. Poor Peter had no comeback.
No he did have a comeback. A pathetic one.
The comeback wasn’t pathetic...it was non-existent
I was thinking exactly the same. She basically said anything before that 4 months was a right off and effected nothing in the business so why were they so obsessed with it. Duncan only cared about the future and could work it out easily
Or the production team mad it look that way.
Peter curled up and died.
lol Duncan just sat back, let them all make fools of themselves then come in with the knowledge at the end
but they didn't make fools of themselves, she was clearly winging it with the numbers
LOL you have no idea what you're talking about, you can't just randomly say I'm going to consider this random month my year end so I can use my best 4 months of sales to project a turnover for a year which I already did business in and didn't make those figures. They we're all completely correct, her business folded for a reason. She was completely out to lunch with her numbers, if someone tried that sh*t and actually knew what they were talking about it would be called "bullsh*tting".
It was Duncan, you fool, who made a fool of himself. Listen to the whole clip again.
You don’t know the concept of Run Rate right?!?
She said she was basing her figures on an annualised representation of her last 4 months - Duncan gave the correct figures based on that explanation(36 profit from 165 turnover); HOWEVER, they still contradicted her own figures (55 profit from 180 turnover) based on the same methodology. She either got her sums wrong or allowed for some growth which would then mean it was not truly annualised. Duncan was right in his figures but wrong to say that was what she was saying all along. The others were right to dismiss her figures as not credible.
She's clearly just nervous, those dragons have no chill at all... except for Duncan.
No shes not, if ur going to give someone 100k , and the persons numbers are all over the place, you dont know if she is lying, manipulating the numbers or just crumbling under pressure. Would you give someone 100k of your own money who cant simply explain their businesses turn over?
@@Filo2211 She was nervous. Duncan understood because he wasn't rushing to be rude and obnoxious.
ICumbo InBed let’s see u pitch to 5 multi millionaires on camera and see how well u do.
I agree, I thought Duncan is sometimes too curt and abrupt but in this instance he was very coherent, logical and fair. I think they gave her way too hard a time tbh. It was borderline bullying. Unfortunately the business was in deed wound up, back in 2010. www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/L-59622-1257169
They need to be ruthless. They need to pick at the cracks in their presentation and see if they crumble or if they can handle the pressure. Why? Because if they crumble in the den, how can you expect to handle going into a company to get their products in stores. They're not there to hold their hand, they provide their money and expertise but the person is expected to do the work themselves. This is a lot of money and they need to be shrewd entrepreneurs. This isn't Masterchef where someone buckles under the pressure and burned their dish and get a hug. They're asking 5 people to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds into their company.
Duncan was the only dragon to give the lady any sort of chance to get a word in edge ways. He and James Caan are the 2 class acts to have been on this show.
Apparently Duncan was a bit of a bell end after the cameras stopped, he wouldnt ever really commit the time he promised to the ones he invested in. Not sure if they got the money or not. James was always great and seemed genuine and nice.
James Caan is an American actor, James Khan is an investor on dragons den
@@johnlastname3751 Then it's true, what they say about a Scotsman and his money?
@@HighlyRegarded420 His wiki page has it spelt as James Caan. If I'm wrong, they are.

They all just pretend more now

I thought this all basically came down to the fact that she confused the word turnover with profit and then had to re-memorize her numbers midway after having realized her mistake.
Exactly.
I thought Duncan was a hero here. Very noble to intervene with the bullying
It's not bullying love it's called business sweetheart .

he wasn't part of the show yet, cause he was still in bed.
All the other dragons getting butthurt cos Duncan had some common sense and listened properly instead of just talking over her, not giving her a chance and being cynical just because she made some mistakes under pressure. Nice one for putting them in their place, Duncan.

What Duncon said is exactly what she said and what I've understood. All the other dragons just didn't listen to her. English obviously isn't her first language and she wasn't able to explain it to them because of it when they misunderstood it but it is exactly what she said.
About to comment it! I couldn't imagine pitching a business in my second language

She either didn't understand the difference between "turnover," "profit," and annualized projections. But I just think she misspoke out of nervousness.

John Smith blame Jenny for not following Boris’ advice, not me 🤷🏻♂️
the other dragons always go full force on one small hiccup why they aren't investing to try belittle the entrepreneur into looking bad as can be. trying to be intimidating and put her under more pressure and not let her defend herself. just peddling. duncan keeps it real. he makes sense of where she's at and looks objectively at the business. a dragon can help her with that anyway.
They're just waving their willies.
Louise M Especially Debra.
...Because this isn't a small hiccup. She didn't know her numbers. Her basic "What is your turnover" "What is your profits". Remember, they are NOT briefed beforehand.
The high amount of 55,000, combined with her terrible job explaning it? Meant that they COULD NOT TRUST HER.
And she was wasting their time.
Roy Edwards Selling a product is the same simple business its always been. However what will sell and make tons of money is down to the product itself. Since they don't know, they need her to tell them. If the Dragons saw big potential for the product if they were to come in and make some business changes, they'd absolutely overlook how well she's been managing it and simply mentor her. Like how Duncan was helping her say what she meant. The other dragons laugh about how "she didn't say that" and refuse to look at the bigger picture. It's clearly what she meant. If they think she's lying (or simply doesn't know herself), they could find out after the show when they actually get down to business to confirm all this before actually investing for real.
Duncan however does look at the bigger picture and keeps it real. 10:29 "it's not an investable company at the moment" It's understandable they wouldn't invest in the business in its current state. More risk than incentive to bother. The others fixate on a hiccup and don't move past it. 8:16 "you're uninvestable" (as a person) Always so belittling. All they needed to tell her was to get a mentor or business partner or something. Some assistance for a growing entrepreneur. Everyone can grow and learn. I'm sure she's open to criticism. Not overly defensive or in denial like they tried to make her be by ganging up and belittling her.
@@MitchellTF entrepreneurs aren't businessmen. They're tradesmen. There is a huge difference. If any of these people knew large scale business or were familiar enough with pitches to not get nervous then they wouldn't need to grovel formoney. The entire setting is theatrical and on the spot rather and designed to be intimidating for entertainment.

1:38 - Jenny is calling on the phone to say she is out.
That's the only Jenny comment I've ever smirked at.
2017 She made a 200K loss, and then dissolved by involuntary liquidation 2019
She took out a loan in 2015
In 2013 books show a 100k loss
In 2008 it was a 40k loss.
in 2009 an 83k loss.
Now private companies are not meant to show big profits, because then they get big tax. But having huge lossess is not normal either. Especially with such a poor P&L account.
