    Nice video,just a few comments about Big Tex,about 3-1/2 years ago I purchased a 10 DM car hauler from Big Tex, a beautiful steel deck 22’ with dovetail.They delivered the trailer from the factory in Mt. Pleasant Texas to Lufkin Texas which is about halfway to my home south of Houston. Met the driver there and picked up the trailer and was very happy.Within several months that changed ,on both fenders the paint started peeling,after many calls to the salesman and service department they told me to bring it back to Mt.Pleasant,thats a 500 mile trip from home I would have to make,so instead of taking the fenders to the Houston Big Tex ,they wouldn’t go for it.Ended up painting them myself.Several months ago I lost a ramp due to the cheesy design on the ramp storage,another month and a half before they shipped a new one,which was $150,so needless to say I wont be buying anything or recommending themto anyone Thanks jg

      Thanks for sharing these experiences. I have owned many brands of trailers over the years and have yet to find one where the paint holds up very well. I imagine there are some more expensive trailers out there with better quality paint. That said, I have never had a functionality issue with the Big Tex trailers and I currently own two of them. I was just talking about pressure washing my trailers and painting them again to refresh them which is what I think most people end up doing. You made an overall good purchase with the one you bought! JD

    I'm a year late with the comment, but everyone should consider weight distribution. 60% of the load should be from the axle forward and 40% axle to the rear. If at all possible, always load vehicle with the engine forward. In this case there is more weight aft of the axle.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před 2 měsíci

      I don't disagree with you. This vehicle wasn't running so it was easier in this case to winch it up backwards. We did discuss the weight distribution since it's a heavy vehicle and was pushing my trailer to the limit already and did the best we could. We didn't have any issues going down the road at highway speeds. All that said, you can't overstate the value of safety when towing and distributing the weight so you make a great point. Thanks. JD

    I was wondering about sway, now you can buy more vehicles once you finish the Camaro.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Ed. No sway at all and at times I was in the 75-80 mph range. Really pulled great. Having it on backwards I think actually worked to our advantage to center the bulk of the weight over the axles. It was a heavy vehicle to start with, somewhere north of 5,500 pounds. Will publish a video in the next couple of weeks which will explain some of the delays with my videos and the Camaro! JD

    If you were to do it over, would you do the same winch or would you do something different ?

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před 7 měsíci

      I’ve been real happy w the winch set up and wouldn’t change anything there. What I would prob consider is a little bit heavier duty car trailer. This one is really designed for smaller cars and trucks and I find myself dealing with larger vehicles most of the time. Hope this helps. JD

    I have the 10ch model, wondering if your trailer scrapes when pulling it around, mine drags on my drive way, just curious what you would recommend to fix that issue.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před rokem +1

      I know mine flattens out and the beavertail hits the ground when you are loading it but once you get the weight balanced the rear comes back up. I have a stock height 2021 Chevy 2500 and I use a 6 inch drop on my hitch. This brings the front of the trailer down and raises the rear. I've never had any issues with hitting driveways. I like the beavertail on the back but I've backed it into gravel and grass backing up where the ground elevates behind the trailer if that makes sense so overall it's a good thing but it does create some of these issues in my opinion. Hope this helps and thanks for checking out the video. JD

    I’m looking to get this trailer except the 20ft. How much do you think that bronco weighs? I’m trying to get my Massey Ferguson 231 with front loader, but I’m afraid it might be too much weight.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před rokem

      Matt and I were talking about that and he said the Bronco weighed somewhere around 5500 pounds which is prob pushing the limits of this trailer. If I could do it all over again, I prob would have gone for something 20 feet and more of an equipment trailer with either drive over fenders or with the deck over the fenders and 10k pound total axles. This trailer is great don't get me wrong but for small to mid sized vehicles. My 78 Camaro fit on there perfectly and it didn't strain the trailer. I'm more inclined to get into larger 3/4 ton trucks and maybe even a dually and this trailer wouldn't hold it from a width perspective or weight. But, for the price it was a great deal and I don't regret it as it will do probably 90% of what I want to do. Hope this helps, not sure how much the Massey weighs but if you do upgrade from this trailer, plan on spending about $2k more give or take. JD

    How do you have your spare tire mounted on your trailer?

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Před rokem +1

      It's a factory spare tire mount that is welded on by Big Tex. I'm pretty sure you can buy them in weld on or clamp on applications from a trailer dealer or check Amazon. JD
