2013 Triumph Daytona 675R - Plugged in Commute

- Added a USB outlet recently, so I'm testing the dash setup while plugged in. Drilled a hole into the side of the open back case for the USB, seems to be slightly more wind noise but not much.

MUCH, MUCH, MUCH respect for uploading this AMAZING VIDEO! I've watched it SEVERAL times in the last hour!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching, much appreciated!
NYC looks so nice with the sun shining! Great bike!
Yea, I love that sheen on a clean new strip of asphalt. thanks for watching!
man, i liked with the first music! I'm really felt me in your bike and enjoying the trip. congras.
I see! Perfect man. I'm watching all of your videos. Thay are awesome. Congrats again!
Ah it's been a while, great content as per usual
Absolutely fantastic video and music choice. Its not a commute when it's fun! Thanks for uploading!
Thanks! Haha exactly why I commute this way. Thanks for watching!
Tom Lin what gas tank mount did you use for your camera? I'll be getting a Gopro hero 4 soon and would like to copy your setup for the same view.
this is on a RAM yoke stem mount. I used to use a suction cup mount on the previous bike because it had a good flat area, this bike does not. Yoke stem mount also allows you to get low on tank you need.
Awesome video. It's cool seeing the place I live on video. It's a dream of mine to ride the daytona through my city and I temporarily live it through you!
awesome! just awesome love the bike and love the city! keep riding man!
Haha, thanks!! Will do! thanks for watchin!
Excellent video. I currently ride an '09 bonneville t100 daily and think I'll be adding the daytona to my garage as my 'weekend' bike some time in the future.
Every time I watch this video I always feel something when you get to the tunnel portion and can't help but imagine how fast those lights would fly by if your tach was at 10k rather than 3.
Stay safe out there.
This is my dream bike. Great video man really enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching!
Nicely done!
These vids are great ! Subbed from Tasmania, Australia :) Keep em coming !. Ps. Love the step board at the end to park the bike.
Used To Assemble These Bikes Straight Out Of The Crates. Big Fan. Keep Up The Good Work. NYC is About 4hrs Away.
Oh awesome, how was the qc coming from the factory? Thanks for watch!
+Tom Lin The Experience Was Priceless. Seeing All Different Models Of Bikes Was Knowledge and Emotions I Will Never Forget
I know you've gotten some negative comments on the music, but I loved it :) Just loud enough to add a beat without covering up that wonderful triple whine!
haha thank you, glad you enjoyed it. that was exactly my intent! thanks for watching!
i love it too, it was used in the tt isle of man promotional video, check it ;)
ssraven Footage from when Gary Johnson won the supersport class last year right?
No, i mean the oficcial tt promocional video with Michael dunlop and John mcguinnes
Tom Lin great vid!
Favorite video on CZcams. Seriously. I think triumph should make these streets their brand song. Nice work man
haha, very kind words. thank you.
Great video, I have an 09 675. Triumph makes great motorcycles.
I do love me some triple torque! Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed this vid :)
glad you like it! thanks for watching!
LOVE THIS BIKE!!
I usually don't like music on motovlogs but somehow this one is just so... amazong...
haha thanks!
Thanks. Hero 3 has significantly less windnoise, they upgraded the mic. However because I drilled a hole into the the case for the USB plug, there's a good deal of windnoise now. I try to edit it out in post.
Great video. This will be my next bike. Currently riding a puny 150 LOL...
Awesome, I plan on the reverse; want to add a classic standard to the mix. Probably either a Bonnie, Moto Guzi V7 or Honda CB1100. Use that as a 2up bike.
Haha yea I wish it was possible/safe to. Thanks for watching!
Very nice man!!! Did you do something to cut the wind noise? I have a HERO2, but sometimes the soud of the wind i lowder then the bike! HERO3 doesn't? Cheers!
Nice, congrats on the bike! You're going to love it!
USB is for the GoPro. This way I can just keep recording and not worry about battery.
thanks!! Will have a new vid up soon from Hawk's Nest ride, stay tuned!
Yea exactly. I double checked the low beam and it's pointed correctly but obviously there's still massive glare without a projector. I'll take being slightly annoying along with my safety.
haha thanks! While fun, it's nothing like living in an area with actual twisty roads. Thanks for watching!
Yea, it's been too hot to ride in june. Thanks! Going to Hawk's Nest on Sunday, so hopefully get some nice footage.
Thanks! Higher visibility for cars, especially from behind/side.
20-23 around the city. Haven't had any issues so far, it's been about 10months, 2300mi. My previous 2012 Street Triple R had a gear sensor issue that caused some problems but nothing major.
Can't go wrong with any of those really. All great bikes, but the Daytona is consistently rated as the king of the supersports. Daytona also has it's unique engine and the goodies you get for price (on the R model).
name of the songs please!!!!!
Dude i thought this was the most relaxing shit ever. It felt like i was riding the thing. Get some chillstep on here and go cruising.
haha awesome, thanks. Thanks for watching.
whats the MPG you get around city? also have you had any reliablity issues? the daytona 675r is a beatiuful bike!
just wonder how did u mount the camera on , and which camera u using ?? i put my gopro , but the camera can not record the speedo speed , cant see may be too low .... if u can tell me , would be helpful thx
RAM fork stem mount. You can find it on amazon.
ahh i see.. i really like the daytona and was thinking about looking into one, really thinking about either the R-6, CBR600RR, or the 675R
I have a 2011 675r. Same engine and everything... how many miles are you getting on a tank with this sort of commuting?
Haha thanks for watching! lol, some plywood screwed together!
some like it, some don't. future vids will have both iterations! thanks for watching!
AWESOME MAN! Just bought mine 2013 675R yesterday! I can't wait to ride her!!!!!!!! What is this USB cable for? Congrats!
Nice video quality but why do you have your highbeam on during the day ?
thanks for showing me where you live
What's TSM option you denied so you have that red light on your dash?
TPMS. Tire pressure monitor. I didn't get the sensors and the dealer didn't turn off the option in the ECU when I first picked up the bike, so there was a warning on the dash. It has since been turned off. I may or may not install it later.
where did you mont the camera?
Why is your front brake fluid so dark? Mines not nearly that colour (2013 Daytona)
Sun mostly. UV damages the fluid. I was just going to make a sock for it too haha. Will do it tonight.
We have just about the same gear set up. What boots do you have?
Dainese Torque Pro Out
where's the sk vid!?
Dat Triple whine...the sound of freedom! Does she complain in stop/start traffic?
Haha nod, love these triples! Nope, they all run hot but haven't had an overheat problem yet. It's running a little rough during idle after the Arrow can but I think the dealer didn't let it relearn after install.
Im so in love with the bike I'm surprised I just watched the video of you driving in 1st person point of view. Haha. But when you park your motorcycle you should keep it parked in 1st or 2nd gear. It will make it harder for someone to try to steal and roll away. Especially if they're dumb and don't know where neutral is.
is there a version without the music?
Unfortunately no, I don't have the original. Future videos will offer both.
Nice !
Yea, it's the stop & go traffic. Killer. My 2.0T Q5 gets like 10-17 in the city, which is actually lower than what I had with the 4.2L v8 RS5 (both weigh roughly the same)
I just did a Bastille video on a Triumph 955i RS, and this popped up in my recomended videos :) Freaky.... Subbed
hahaha! Apparently Triumph riders like Bastille. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Hey, that's the best/smartest way. start small.
I live in Rockaway and just bought the same bike. I end up on a lot of these roads, keep an eye out for a '13 R piloted by a guy in a Shoei Laseca (red, white, green) and a Leatt brace.
You ride with a neck brace on the street? That's some serious atgatt! right on!
I wear the stx brace. I hardly notice it even tucked in, and if I had to choose one part of my body to protect, it would definitely be my neck. Gets some odd looks though...
Yep yep, got it covered! I lock both wheels along with the steerer locked, only way to steal the bike is to break the gate lock then lift the bike out of my yard.
Same thing with parking in public, disc locked and steerer locked. Thanks!
Great video, I've tried to make similar ones, unfortunately, the roads and traffic where I live is about 2000 times worse, Love the bike though, I'd like to own one some day :)
dang that sucks. I've gone through so many different routes to work, every little bit of congestion and traffic light avoidance helps. I don't take that route anymore, found better :)
thanks for watching!
Tom Lin I've been to NYC, you guys have it easy :) Stay safe!
You should look into the full arrow system. It actually sounds quite different on the 2013 model compared to the older ones.
I'm planning on the full titanium Akrapovic race system later on. The full Arrow is their race system and it's disgusting looking.
Agreed it doesn't look the best. Akrapovic usually sounds good on everything but I've yet to hear it on a Triumph. I just love the full Arrow system for it's constant tiny backfires ;)
2011 has a different engine, very similar but not the same one. I only get about 20-23mpg on the 2013.
Bastille - Pompeii
Bastille - These Streets
What video editing application do you use?
Adobe Premiere and sometimes After Effect
Thanks
Tom Lin My brother uses After Effects to edit videos. Awesome program.
Is this rush hour in NYC? If it is, you are a very lucky man.
I wish. If it were rush hour, I wouldn't have been moving.
Great vid good music well tidy bike ;) uk
thanks, and thanks for watching!
It's not a bad commuter bike, but it was really made to rip through the gears to redline. Hope you get to the track with it soon, because it is really unbelievable there. (I have 3 of them: 2012 675R - race bike; 2014 675R - race bike; 2012 675 - street bike.)
Yea, I'm heading to NJMP end of June. Can't wait!
Awesome! Let me warn you...it's addictive.
FYI your right side mirror looks a little wobbly you might want to tighten the screws. your welcome ;)
I see daytona . I hit like 😊
your right mirror is kinda floppy on the bumps but nice riding and up-lifting music
Haha yea, it's kinda funny. It still does that, I think it's the hinge. When I hit hard bumps, it folds itself up lol. Thanks for watching!
why ruined the video by putting that stupid song n music !!! the engine is already a music
Some people like it, some people don't. Everyone's got their own preferences, sorry you were not able to appreciate the video fully. Thanks for watching!
Tom Lin I agree with Terra. I still loved the vid though! Stunning visuals in the tunnel.
CrushOfSiel it's ok can't please everyone :) the tunnel is my favorite part, the color change is fun. Thanks for watching!
+Tom Lin fellow long islander here waiting on my 675r, I'm a little worried about the dashes visibility in sunlight, looks pretty horrid in the video. Any better in person?
Anthony Giunta it's fine in person, it's just the cameras low angle catching a glare. enjoy the bike!
Tom Lin awesome, good to hear! Thanks!
:55 in the video is the exact spot where my CBR died. R.I.P. "Heather". Just got rid of my GSX-R and my next bike is the Daytona 675R. We should ride sometime, you seem to be a pretty good rider.
Also, no music! I'd rather hear the engine! And i'm guilty of flipping up my mirrors in traffic as well. Be careful riding near the shoulder, that's where road debris accumulates from the cars wind pushing it all to the sides. Highways like the L.I.E., which are frequently by trucks, tend to have more nails and such. I learned that lesson the hard way after replacing a few expensive tires!
Haha gotcha, it'd be cool if youtube offered separate tracks within one video.
Yea, I try not to shoulder, so much nasty crap on it. Ride safe man and thanks for watching!
Dang sorry about the CBR, crash or just engine death?
Engine seized :/
ouch. sorry :(
After seeing my friend's Daytona 675R I really want to get a bike now. Need to get my license and save up some money now.
Make sure you take an MSF course, makes getting the license so much easier and 15% off your insurance!
Tom Lin I live in Vancouver BC so I'm not sure if we have any kind of deals like that. It be cool if we did though.
Get something cheap to learn on, as far as a sportbike goes, a Kawasaki 250 Ninja is a great bike to start on as they're plentiful and cheap in the used market. You can learn a lot about how to use the whole bike, really dealing with power(it's able to go well, but not overpowering), braking and handling. Then You sell it when you get the money together for that Daytona. You'll be glad You learned to ride something reasonably non demanding before getting on something that really is about as good as a bike in that size class can get.
Oldbmwr100rs ^ this exactly
Here in England you have to take a cbt before the primary license and that only allows up to 125cc and it really works! I wouldn't have been confident trying a bike if I didn't already drive a van and I wouldn't get a high cc ss without handling a 125 like a needle through silk
is this the only bike you've been on?
No sir, I've owned one other bike and have ridden a few others.
how does the 675 compare to what you've had in the past? I am looking for something different and its from a gsxr to either a new 636 or a 675
It's better in every way, it fits everything I want in a bike. The only thing I would probably get an additional bike for is a standard for scooting my girlfriend around on, maybe a CB1100.I've never ridden a gixxer or the new 636 but if those two are your choices you really can't go wrong. Both are top of the food chain in the supersport class. It really comes down to which characteristics you prefer.
It's fine for short rides around town but I would not suggest any sport bike for 2up riding. It's just not fun for the passenger imo.
Ok, other drivers would get pissed off i i did that here in Stockholm Sweden, especially now after i got HID's for my 2013 Daytona (regular version and not the R). I really hated the weakass stock H7's both the R and standard bike ships with, with the lowbeam on unlit roads you can sometimes hardly see where the hell you're going.
I would hate commuting S.I.
Nice vid tho man
I've never driven locally there, only through the 278 coming back from Philly to avoid the city. I guess the roads are shit? Thanks for watching!
Tom Lin well not only are some the roads complete and utter shit, it's that the area is so sketchy and grimy in some parts that really bugs me. Like wtf S.I, get your shit together
Oh lol, sounds like my hood!
nice vid music was dope just gotta have taste to listen to different types i guess lol.
Thanks! Everyone has their own music choices, can't win em all ;) Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
wow 20-23 mpg is terrible.. there are v6s that get better mileage than that
turn off the music, bro.
other than that' i'm jealous , (in a good way) :P
ride safe!@
Why put that shitty music in the background? You can hardly hear the bike.
Alex Johnson Everyone has different preferences. I've had requests to include music in the videos, this is one of them. I regret that you could not fully enjoy the video. I've since gone the route of making two versions, with and without music. Thanks for watching!
boring! you should sell me the bike & buy yourself a cruiser! lol
Yep, commuting to and from work tend to be boring around here. A cruiser would be too big for our traffic, would be the same as a car. Maybe a standard. Thanks for watching!
gay music!!!!!!!
