In this video we're checking out Paul Weller's solo work. We've heard his work with the Jam and the Style Council, so we're expecting something interesting. Enjoy! / hanierfamily cynthiamartin....
Paul Weller has soul in his bones . he is known as the Mod Father . soul music was a huge influence on the mod scene and kind of morphed into it's own thing here in the UK . the mods went off and made their own music and the soul scene became known as Northern soul because that's where all the dance halls and clubs playing soul were and it's still a big thing now . as you likes that song you should try , You do something to me , Aspects ( which is totally different again almost folk music it's a beautiful song ) and his version of wishing on a star is fantastic . and thank you guys for listening to my request . I'm glad you liked it .
The Modfather continues making incredible music. He Never fails to create something special in whatever mood or musical phase he is in. His purple patch is eternal.
weller has such a huge back catalogue of great songs from the jam to the style council and then his solo career, his influences were soul and motown mostly and he has done some fantastic covers of this genre along the way!
Weller is a god in my house. New subscriber, loving the UK classics. Please check out whirlpools end live on later with jools holland 1996. Full brass and string section. The bass n drum breakdown is epic mixed with weller n craddock guitar weaving. Even cellist looks like gonna have an orgasm at the end. My fav weller live performance. Beautiful musicianship. You tube version not great quality but don't matter. Can still see the soul in it. Remember watching it at the time n recording it on vhs. The tape got worn out. 🤣Keep up the good work. Something fresh n new from the reaction channels.x
after leaving The Jam he formed another group The Style Council tracks you may enjoy include Speak like a child, Walls come tumbling down and Long hot summer
The Mod Father at his best a fantastic song inspired by his son asking where all the pebbles on the beach came from Weller is a true icon of my childhood and for many more people . from the Jam to the style council to his solo career the man is a genius you should try listening to his first wife DC Lee who was originally the backing singer in wham and later joined the style council try DC Lee see the day
Weller's depth is an Ocean... Soul ? have a listen to his version of Mayfield's "Move on Up". Then back to his many many pieces. like, .You do Something to Me...Wild Wood,....Bitterness rising....All the Pictures on the Wall...Foot of the Mountain .... Kosmos... Whirlpools End... Oh, am I going on? Look into the catalog and you'll understand... after all that, then have a listen to Skunk Annise'd version of You do Something to Me.. please. You guys are looking at the most interesting music to be Reacted too, on the web at the moment.. respect.
There is another live version of this song floating around with Weller and Rico Rodriguez, the great Ska trombonist that appeared with The Specials and other Two Tone bands.
If you want a showcase of Paul's voice you can't go wrong than to listen to Studio 51 Paul's cover album. They Wishing on a Star (Rose Royce) is probably best, or Nolan Porter's If I could only be sure. All along the watchtower or the Carpenter's Close to You
Paul Weller has never rested on his laurels, and has to be one of the greatest singer/songwriters the UK has produced,

Starting point for Paul Weller’s solo stuff definitely has to be his first three solo albums. The legendary gig at Wolverhampton is beyond belief.
One of my favourite Weller songs 👍

Another great song from the Modfather
👍
Nice reaction! Mr Weller would love you for the soul/motown compliment, he's been influenced by them from the start. His voice has really matured.

Great song. Soulful...as you guys said. His voice at this period almost Otis Redding like...Paul always inspired by soul and Motown.
The Modfather! Lots of Style Council is soulful (Confessions 1,2 and 3). Keep going. Changing Man, Time Passes, Above the clouds..so many!
have a listen to sunflower by Paul weller..its such a great song..think Chris will really enjoy it
I think it's based on an aretha franklin franklin song. There's a picture of her.on the album cover.
Just give studio 150 a private listen. Destroyed by critics, but a truly great album of covers.

Mirror Man , Human League .
Ooh. We haven't listened to them in a while.
U guys are missing 10 years, he split up the jam and formed the style council, 20 years of beautiful blue eyed soul
Yeah, we've been holding back on the Style Council, haven't we. Almost time to remedy that.
i'd like you to listen to "the day we caught the train "by ocean colour scene.
Joe cocker ffs, please see style council 83-89
