  • JOHNNY BURNETTE and THE ROCK & ROLL TRIO - LONESOME TRAIN (in colour)
The video here is JOHNNY BURNETTE and THE ROCK & ROLL TRIO performing LONESOME TRAIN taken from the 1956 Black & White movie 'Rock, Rock, Rock'.
I've upscaled and colourised the original film. The audio is playing slightly fast in the page but hopefully that doesn't spoil your enjoyment of this classic performance.
Rock, Rock, Rock! was a 1956 black-and-white motion picture conceived, co-written and co-produced by Milton Subotsky and directed by Will Price.
The film was an early jukebox musical featuring performances by established rock and roll singers of the era, including Johnny Burnette, Chuck Berry, LaVern Baker, Teddy Randazzo, the Moonglows, the Flamingos, and the Teenagers with Frankie Lymon as lead singer.
Famed disc jockey Alan Freed made an appearance as himself.
Long before "You're Sixteen" and "Dreaming", Johnny Burnette was rockin' with his older brother Dorsey and Paul Burlison.
Written by Glen Moore and Milton Subotsky, LONESOME TRAIN was first recorded and released by Johnny Burnette and The Rock And Roll Trio and remains one of their greatest rockabilly songs.

Johnny Burnette was the first to invent Rockabilly music! Not Elvis.... That's why I say Johnny Burnette is the king of Rockabilly! Greetings from West Germany!

wow brilliant but gradey martin should be on there instead of paul burlinson miming and dorsey should be on bass but they had fallen out before this hence the guy miming left handed awkwardley on bass....shame they broke the trio up so quickly still the best rockabilly lp ever made no doubt about it . this lp was the thing that got most rockabilly 's boppin in the early eighties pity johnny never got to see how popular he was and is now .my king of rockabilly.

Johnny and Dorsey were always having spats. IT's a shame that Doresy not in the movie. side note Johnny Black who is playing the Bass was suppposed to be Elvis's bass player...when Sam Phillips called the Black house and asked for Johnny Black he wasn't there , so Sam asked Bill Black Johnny's brother) if he would do the Bass playing for Elvis. I talked with Dorsey times many years ago, and I was a close friend of Paul Burliosn, and have watched and listened to Paul play the guitar (he was great)...this was while Paul, and I were visiting with Charlie Feathers at Charlie Feathers house many many years ago...Dennis West
