Keeping my Talaria stock right now (been 800km this way), along with my other bikes. Didn't think about the bearings and stuff, definitely another reason to keep it stock, for me.
It's still relatively cheap. Not requiring insurance, tags, gas and regular maintenance saves a lot in the long run.

Legality for use on the road: most states will classify it as a motorcycle and require motorcycle license and license plates (for the road). Not a bicycle as it doesn't have human powered pedals, and not a moped as it can go faster than 25-40mph (depends on state).
My state dont even wanna register it to anything not even a moped.

I think a lot of people lump them into the dirt bike category, but the build quality is not the same. A dirtbike can handle being dropped multiple times without breaking. however a lot of components on a Sur-Ron are carried over from MTB and don't support the weight or speed. Even the Magura brakes; a lot of people pick as the best are not rated for the weight or speed of a Sur-Ron.

Im looking into surron supermoto wheels, are thrre any brands you would recommend and how often do you recommended changing them
Unfortunately even in what were at one time "country" areas, is becoming v harder and harder to find places to ride dirtbikes. Especially if you don't feel like paying to go to a motocross track or park. Soooo, Sur-rons? Talarias? Well worth it to ride quietly on some unique terrain.
If they made it look more like a bmx or 10 speed, you could go stealth on it in town, stay onder 30-35 probably never get pulled over. get rid of the long seat and put a hole in the middle, no lights

In Oregon if it goes over 35mph it needs lights, plate, tags and insurance... so they most definitely are illegal in Oregon
I'm really glad u didn't say that they don't ruin jumps or anything because they do I mountain bike and I'm 14, we build dirt jumps not tiny ones, 6 foot tall lips and stuff and surron kids always come ride and destroy them I luv these bikes it's just always the riders that screw up

one very importantdetail: it's a lot easier to take an electric bike to your 8th floor apt. (via elevator) and service it or do other mechanical things to it. a gas powered bike would attract waaay more attention and i dare you to fire it up. lol.

5:36 Yep... I broke my pinky riding a surron... only my pinky (which literally shattered in 5 pieces) because I had gears on ! Good thing is I kept the bike between my legs and I didn't even scratched it ! Actually, I wish I had scratched the bike instead and kept my pinky straight cause it's all crooked now ^^

Yeah I’ve ridden in the snow/ice before you can definitely do it just gotta be careful tires with a lot of traction help alot

I agree with all of your info, especially on the setting of where you would want/not want a Surron vs dirt bike but I disagree entirely with the fact that a Surron is more expensive than a dirt bike you compared a brand new Surron to a bunch of used bikes with a filter on a lot of people especially people who race only put a limited amount of miles on a bike to race them and use them to there peak sell the old one and pick from the selection of 20 other dirtbikes a new dirt bike probably runs around 8k a crf150r is about 6k and a crf250 is around 8k and that's not even starting on ktm's or 450's also dirt bikes have been around far longer and are more popular giving them a much larger aftermarket support allowing for way more crazy in-depth and more expensive builds then any Surron. If you don't think I'm qualified to say whats what j letting you know I got like 10 dirt bikes in my garage and have been searching for a Emoto/bike for months.
you arent lying, also that discount you can get buying a used dirt bike doesnt seem to translate to these Ebikes...
its just about my second month checking marketplace and 9/10 of the posts are about $200 lower than official dealers...more commonly mfs are asking MORE $$ than a brand new one because they did a couple mods. I honestly struggle to trust their parts selection, not to mention their ability to install correctly to guarantee the best functionality/longevity....

Anyways, I found a seller selling a used Segway X260 with 2x32ah batteries for C$4000, this sounds like a crazy deal
think I'm just gonna gamble if I can get away or not riding these on the street/side(I have 0 interest in off roading, anyways we have literally 0 trails within a 25km radius lol)

How is it a misconception a Surron is a motorcycle/dirt bike? Go check the official website and see what they actually sell it as. They list it as a off road electric motorcycle. They can do 0-50mph in 3.6 seconds but you still don't think that's a motorcycle/dirt bike? Yes gas will have more power, more range, but that doesn't change the fact a Surron is an electric dirt bike.
They don't even go 50mph unless you upgrade them

In most states yes but no ones really follow the rules when it comes to ebikes.
You need to check your local laws.
But basically if your bike goes faster than 28mph you need to have it registered and you need to have a regular license or a moped license.
All vary state by state but this is the basic.
No they are not street legal period. You can use it on private property, the farm, or public trails or a track.
Surron = electric dirt bike
It is not about weight, range, or something else.
It is the purpose and capability.

The upkeep puts me off cause I've the engineering skills of a slug. My mountain bike has a 350w front wheel motor that takes me to 30mph without pedalling without the need for all the work.
Got to love hub motors.
@@Calthecool the only issue I've had with it being on the front wheel is it can wheel spin when going up steep slippery surfaces but apart from that they make everything so much easier.

I just built a 2kW 2wd bike with two 1kW kits (vid on my channel if you want to take a look) and it definitely spins the front wheel sometimes, although I mostly ride it on pavement where it isn’t a problem.

Just got my talaria mx4 yesterday, already rode it a ton, super fun, been riding it everywhere my motorcycle can’t go, only thing is the seat is uncomfortable and it starts to hurt after like 8 min😂

Its a federal law. If there calling it an E-Bike then yes its illegal. The state can override and make there own E-Bike law but most states are if its over 750watts its not street legal.
Now if your state can register it as a Moped or motorcycle then your good to go.
It dosent have brake lights or rear signal lights among other things. Its not even trying to be street legal, the laws are different everywhere

It's a big topic here as so many people ride sur rons. But the issue in the news call it a Gray area because we do not register sur rons here as moped and people ride it as an ebike. The issue here is 750watts is the agreed ebike max cap.
They said in the news it's street legal atm if they limit there power to 750watts. But guess who's doing that. No one is.
These are not E-bikes, they're motorcycle, cops will eventually clamp down on these.

They are not legal to ride to begin with, so no, you don't need a license. A license won't help, still illegal. Just buy one, ride it, and be free. Avoid interactions with law enforcement. Honestly, my local cops don't care, but the environmental cops do. If you live somewhere where liberals reign, just avoid people and you will be fine. They'll need a dirt bike to catch you, and cops in the USA don't ride dirt bikes that I am aware of. Just be familiar with your surroundings, mind your own business, and ignore strange noises, such as "Hey!", or "Stop!".
I have only run into one male Karen, on a mountain bike. Everyone else compliments the bike and wants one. Eventually the laws will change, or I will forever be an outlaw for enjoying life.
