first!
I don't understand why you don't have 100k subs yet. From so many aspects your channel is worlds above the so many others.
Hey I super appreciate that. I think the channel is always gonna be somewhat self selecting just because not a lot of people have the patience or interest in videos of these lengths BUUUUUUT I sure would like it to keep growing so.. tell you friends!
@@markjohnstonofficial I love the long videos! so in-depth!
It takes time. There are hidden treasures, precious metals and gems that exist but have not been discovered yet. With time, these treasures will eventually be found.🙏💙
I’ll never understand what makes one channel blow up and not another. This is by far the best pedal demo channel on CZcams.
Worlds above. Streets ahead.
One of the most inspiring guitarist ever. 🖤🎸 Mark 🤘
Always fun to watch someone else(Mark) work this hard. Nice!
Bass tone is on point my man! Nice
Dude i am so excited for this pedal! Almost preordered it when they sent out their release email, but held off to put that money elsewhere for the time being. Its definitely close to top on my list of things to buy. First is their Sunflower Deluxe.
Really nice intro there buddy.
So Mark, hands down: Meraki or Dahlia? 🙂
I've started trying to learn your intro songs as practice pieces. Your videos are on another level, and are directly responsible for a significant amount of decrease in my bank account. Keep it up, thank you for all the hard work you put into these. Also, what's the deal with suddenly having these stereo analog delays? So many years of hearing how that's not going to be a thing, yet here we are. I can't lie, I don't understand how the MIDI can work with this one yet, but I probably just need to rewatch the video.
I mean for a long time I think it was driven by an issue of being cost prohibitive to make stereo analog delays. The idea of people spending above like 299 on a pedal was pretty rough until the last 5-7 years or so.
Also... that's really cool to hear and good luck to you; I had to relearn a few of these for my NAMM performance this year and it was wayyyyy more of an effort than I had expected.
Maaan I'd love a Sunflower in this color scheme
Awesome Tutorial-Video! Thanks! That helps a lot!
Does the Dahlia have spillover/trails when bypassing?
I'm addicted to stereo. I can already see this pedal in my toolkit! i recently bought a second OBNE Minim pedal so that i could run them in stereo. Not having them clocked together makes for some interesting errors, glitches, and phase "slaps".
Dude. You’re a damn good bass player
It’s my actual favorite instrument.
Almost got on the early preorder on this, but then I kept waffling between it, DM-101, and Meraki. Still haven't gotten any of them yet, lol. The footprint, MIDi, and stereo independence of the Dahlia are tempting though. P.S. Lovely track!
So between this and the Meraki... which one stands out to you?
Hello, thank you for all hard work and enlightening content.👏🏻👋🏼 Immediate Q: Are both sides equal in volume, or is there a way to set this if both sides are not equally loud? 👏🏻👋🏼
every parameter can be totally independent
Is the midi 5pin to 3.5mm a type A like boss uses or type B? Im assuming type A, but just making sure
I wonder how this would compare to the Strymon El Cap?
Oof! Now then... This pedal ticks an awful lot of boxes! I can't think of many true stereo analog delays besides the Boss DM-101 and WA Meraki. And this is a lovely, small form factor. But, can I justify this AND my Thermae? (It's a rhetorical question, unless CBA suddenly released a Thermae in stereo.)
Maybe you can’t say this, but which do you prefer, Mark, this or the Meraki? I just got a Meraki; it’s pretty awesome. Also very big. Sounds great though.
I just don’t think there’s a real answer. Meraki lacks full midi but had brighter repeats and more delay time. This is darker, harder to navigate, shorter delay but the full midi integration is pretty crucial for those who need it. The character of the delay is different as is the eq implementation and the ramping offers some real cool stuff Meraki doesn’t do
Mark do you ever find yourself struggling writing? I always wonder how you manage to come up with so many tracks.
Often but there’s two main things there (I should probably make a video on this)
1. Writing is a muscle; the more I exercise that muscle the easier I find it is to use it.
2. When I am struggling with writers block; especially in an era where I’ve written SO many guitar parts a way I find I can wriggle out of that “ugh it all sounds the same” headspace is by starting on a different instrument and for me that’s usually drums. I’ll sit down and basically sloppily rip off an approximated drum part from a song I like and then write around that structure and it tends to accomplish two things; it gets me writing with some context and I find that the parts I write basically never results the song feeling or sounding like the song the drums were inspired by.
@@markjohnstonofficialthat’s great advice- thank you!
Beautiful pedal. I want it, but I don't need it
That’s basically this entire channel
