You're probably thinking of the slight accent that lots of north-central Americans get (Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, etc.). Those areas have HUGE Danish, Swedish, and Icelandic populations that have really changed the general pronunciation of words in that area. Its not shocking you'd think she was American!

Many actors, singers, and other famous American figures have that intonation to their voice, so you’d be exposed to it if you’ve ever watched or heard anything from one of those people. It’s a common accent found all over the mid-West US, but also central Canada. You’ve undoubtedly been exposed to it many times!
