I love how Magneto is just forever condescending Wolverine lmao. He just takes a particular enjoyment in gently bullying him
Magneto is jelly that Wolverine is the main character.
It probably helps that he barely has to lift a finger to send him flying off into the woods lol😂 . Magneto can act as tough as he likes.
@@mrjeffjr1470 Indeed, but Magneto can't kill him (he wont if he could but..).
@@rasikkom9605
Actually he could. All he has to do is manipulate the metal to permanently cover the spots of his most important vitals n' leave them there, and it's game over for Wolverine.
@@tronovonflidder775 or turn him into a metal ball....
A group of perfectly casted X-Men, around a fire, from two different sides working together in greatly written dialogue is a fucking awesome movie scene.
This why also love future past cuz the OG has cameos
technically wolverine was not a perfect cast but actor aced that role
@@laba3423 Why? He was visually perfect for the role
@@shadowwolf9467 Hugh is too tall. Wolverine is 5'3 in the comics, Jackman is 6'2. It's also a reason for his anger issues in the comics because others would look down on him cause of his height.
@@Kevin_Oskar And Jackman is too handsome and (was) too young for Wolverine. In the first movie, I remember thinking: "Why'd they cast this guy?" But like the earlier comment said, Jackman so nailed the character that it would have been petty to dwell on the physical differences. When Disney destroys (I mean, reboots) the X-Men, Wolverine will probably be played by some thin pretty boy in his twenties who says "like" all the time and "Ewww! Cigars are smelly!"
I love how magneto was hinting that he was forced against his will to tell about cerybro yet he says he told him. Full responsibility. What an interesting and well written character
I wonder if that was a bit of manipulation on his part, to get the X-Men to trust him. By admitting he helped Stryker, but without fully revealing it was against his will, it makes him seem more believable and sympathetic. All for the purpose of gaining their help to break into the base and then initiate his own plan for revenge.
Magneto help Stryker locate the mansion because he tortured him. Watch the movie again.
@@poybash20 no shit. Read my comment again. I said he was forced to tell, what do you think that means? Beyond that he himself says that he told striker rather, rather than saying he forced to or that he was tortured he instead says he told him and that he's very persuasive. The interesting part lies in the fact that he never mentioned being forced to, leaving it to the point that he still takes responsibility for telling him and being unable to not tell him even if it wasn't his fault he sees it as it is his fault
@@HCBailly Not exactly. When Jean and Storm find Wagner, he reveals he was forced to attack the President and he didn't do it of his own free will. When Magneto mentions that he told Stryker, you can see the look of understanding on Storm's face. Because she knows a powerful mutant like Erik, despite his differences with the X Men, wouldn't give up his own kind to a guy like Stryker, without any persuasion or torture.
@@HCBailly -Why didn’t Erik rescue Charles, though?

Sir Ian!
Way better than the actor they pick to play magneto in first clas

I love how magneto always credits how powerful Charles is! In every movie, in some way, he mentions Charles being super powerful! Like when he said “you’re psychic, you can convince me to do anything” at the end of X-men Apocalypse, or even here “he could kill us all” like bro knows Charles’s mind is extremely strong🙌🏾‼️
Even though they are on opposite sides, they are still besties. He has known him for years, he knows how powerful he is.
It's also kind of foreshadowing what happened more then 25 yrs later in 'Logan'
Professor X lost control of his mind and he psychically killed lots of people, some of them mutants.
Pretty chilling to hear Magneto talk about something that eventually came to pass
@@MsLovestory01- Why didn’t he rescue him when he had the chance? Why did he leave him trapped and helpless?

@@megalon73 - I never understood WHY Magneto doesn’t rescue Charles from Cerebro! Weren’t the two of them friends? He just leaves him there to die?
I like how magneto’s saying how Charles could kill every single mutant with his power and that’s pretty much what they said happened in “Logan” when Charles had his seizure.
The actress and the way she portrayed mystique in the first 3 movies were just perfect 👌
Agree. Rebecca Romijn nailed the character.
No wonder why he trust her more 😏
Stryker almost achieve his goal his only mistake was not killing Magneto when he had the chance.
Annoying Holocaust survivors is not a good idea Mister Stryker. We call Hell " home ".
Did it make sense for Magneto to leave Charles trapped in Cerebro? I thought that he wanted to rescue him .
I think Stryker needed Magneto alive to lure Xavier and capture him.
@@jexelbur6872 Yes, but he could have killed Magneto once he had Xavier.
@@GoranXII I think Stryker intended to use him as another mind-controlled pawn, like Lady Deathstrike.
Despite what Magneto says here, ProfX would have not killed all of mutantkind. Some of them would have survived - for instance, we see Emma Frost managing to shield her thoughts from Charles in First Class.
So how does one take care of the stragglers? The weaker, luckier ones would be easy kills with Lady Deathstrike, but what about the psychics?
Well, if you are clever, you send in someone who has had experience out-thinking psychics. Someone like Magneto.
Famke got the perfect Jean look❤
After magneto insulted the shit out of wolverine, wolverine looked like he wanted all the smoke with magneto but mystique was looking at him like I wish you would lmao.

O, hello👋😊
X-Men 2 is my favorite X-men movie and in my top 3 comic book movies of all time. The cast is all in their prime (some physically, some career wise), Stryker as the villain is AMAZING, his scenes in the underground military base are horrifying and we really see how much he hates mutants and wants them dead. We get to see Magneto and the X-Men work together in an amazing rescue scene. The young trio of Bobby, Rogue and John make for an awesome young adult subplot. Let's not even mention Jean's noble sacrifice at the end and Cyclops horrified reaction. It makes me cry every time. X-Men 2 is everything an X-Men and superhero movie should be.
I agree 💯 with you
@@12345678981159 Glad to hear it! And currently watching Days of Future Past as I type this.
Same here. It definetly was the best written version
@@MsDragonbal776 Definitely. This cast is just one of a kind. Could never be replicated. They don't make comic book movies like this anymore.
Spoken like a true prodigy.
It’s so underrated! The best Xmen film and one of the best comicbook films ever made because every aspect of the film is well polished. The execution is consummate. Great character arcs, story, screenplay, performances, subplots, visual effects, stunts, choreography, score, etc. Everything feels proportionate which makes for a genuinely wholesome experience. I’d also say it has one of the greatest opening sequences to a movie ever. Nightcrawler teleporting through the white house taking out SS agents never ceases to delight me.
More proof that X2 is one of the best superhero movies ever
I agree I miss the days when superhero films weren't connected to one universe they were all their own movies That's one of the biggest problems with DC and marvel is that they want all their movies to be connected to one universe
Now that I think about it, Charles did send Wolverine to Alkali Lake in search of his past, but Logan didn't scratch the surface. Imagine if he'd investigated the dam. Imagine if he'd found Stryker's base of operations and ended up cutting the whole plan off ahead of schedule. How fuckin' awkward would it be for Stryker to be operating underground and Wolverine just _shows up_ on their doorstep?
he would probably get taken down by stryker's son
I feel like because Magneto is a direct counter to Wolverine, he likes to talk shit to Logan. Cause he can't do anything about it.

@@PabloRuizMegapoor writing
This is one of the reasons why X2 is my favourite of all the X-MEN films because the antagonist Willian Stryker) was so dangerous that the two factions of mutants (Charles Xaviers X Men and Magnet it's Brotherhood of Mutants) who had opposite ideologies had to team up in order to take down the common enemy. This led me on the edge of my seat thinking when the inevitable betrayal would occur.
Mine is Days of Future Past.
Magneto lamenting about how he wasted his life fighting Charles and dies trying to buy him just a few more seconds, and the scene where Young Charles and Old talk through Logan, are among my favorite scenes not just in the X-Men franchise, but in all of cinema.
Agreed James. I also think it's criminal how William Stryker is never mentioned as one of the best superhero movie villains of all time. He brings Magneto, Charles and Wolverine to their metaphorical knees. He almost has the president assassinated. He hates mutants and his scene blaming Charles in the military bunker is chilling. Not to mention Brian Cox's AMAZING performance. "You were an animal then, you're an animal now. I just gave you claws."
WHY did Magneto betray them? That never made sense to me .
@@matthewschwartz6607 Because in X-men 3 the Humans found a serum to take away the mutants power. Magneto thought that it is the climax of the war between Humans and mutants.
@@DoubleClefFm - I meant in the second movie when he didn’t rescue Charles and left him TRAPPED in Cerebro! The third movie was by a different director.
Watching this as a kid... it's just cool. Watching this as an adult... Magento just called wolverine a full on fucktard and he just stood there. That was amazing.
Interesting how now when watching the movies in "order" this movie and magnetos "he could kill us all" can be seen as foreshadowing the events of Logan.
I remember watching this when I was about 19 years old in theaters. Went with a good friend. Just shy of 20 years ago and much better times.
I love that moment where Logan looks at mystique with a certain type of fear in his eyes. Mystique gives Logan a different look.
She looks at him like a predator staring at its prey. No words are said but we all know what they were thinking. I just love the subtext and visual storytelling on display it’s remarkable.
This and the original Spiderman movie were easily the kings of superhero movies in the early 2000s
I feel like im the only one who genuinely likes every xmen movie. I love how cheesey they are, but the plot is also one of my favorite comic book plots, as well as the prequels. I like the reboot through meddling with the timeline in the 70’s. I love everything about it. It could just be nostalgia tho, i did grow up with the franchise
Same here!
I did, with the exception of Dark Phoenix. Some people are never pleased with anything. Hardly understanding that in order to get the budget to make films like this the studio has to see a great return. Which won't happen if the movies only cater to the comic book audience.
@@Lord_Bibulous except dark Pheonix others are good 💯
Me too😊 And oh, I even really like XMDP not less then other parts of franchise. “Phoenix” have several strong unique points.
see that fire became larger for a second? Phoenix powers manifesting already
I love the thought that they actually took the time to make a bonfire. What, did logan chop some wood and pyro lit the wood ? lol
Duh
They're mutants. Jean probably summoned all the nearby logs, chopped them with her telekinesis, then Storm hit it with a thunderbolt to make a spark and fire.
Rebecca Romijn as mystique in this scene is hot
The nervous look on NightCrawler 😅😅
Man just look at it. 20 year old movie but just awesome. The story, the cast, the makeup etcetc.
Easter egg foreshadowing of the phoenix when the fire blooms when Jean is using her powers.
The acting is so good I didn't notice the naked chick at all.
I know OG mystqiue is the best because instead of lines she just has to use fluid head movement and eye work to convey an entire ball park of emotions. So spoiled we were!
And instead now we get loud mouth “mAyBe We ShOuLd CaLl It ThE x-WoMeN iNsTeAd”
@CLxJames I've never heard that before. Are there people out there who want an x-wome😊n series?
I remember watching this movie in theaters, goddamn was it fun. I remember being so pumped after seeing it my mom got me a new Wolverine game for the GameCube that starred Mark Hamill as the voice for Wolverine. Certainly not the best game ever but I enjoyed it enough. So long ago...
It's a shame we never got a X-Men/Brotherhood type teamup like in X-Men Legends 2.
It was nice to see Magneto and Mystique temporarily working with the X-Men, and Magneto obviously works with the X-Men at points in the 2010s movies, but Fox definitely missed out on an opportunity to do a whole movie where the X-Men and Brotherhood are aligned from start to finish.
I like the hint of mystery in the music in this scene. The first two X-Men films were really superb. Excellent acting, action, plot, music and depth to the characters, then it goes downhill to me with the subsequent films. But this was a really good movie.
I always loves this incarnation of nightcrawler played by Alan Cumming..... Brilliant cast of the character......
Is it me or Jean’s look from X2 looks similar to how Black Widow looked in the first two Avengers movies in the MCU????
Same haircut just about..
Jean looks much better
That little detail with the fire flairing is so nice

How did Wolverine not catch on that Nightcrawler was right above them? That sensitive nose of his is useless.
Yeah Logan would have definitely smelt him, canonically he stinks like burning sulfur, maybe the campfire covered his scent.
Because he already knows he's there, he just didn't find his scent to be suspicious
@@kalgarc that is the best you can come with? There are always so many inconsistent things that always happen in these X-men films and you people just always have and find some excuse. If he already knew he was there why would he act all surprised by Kurt being up there. You people always have such idiotic excuses.
@@francostevo9939 First of all its been plenty of cases in the comics and cartoon where Wolverine has been sneaked up on and attacked and he didn’t know his opponent was there or last minute notice by a sniff and it was to late! I think he actually has to use the sense to sniff out someone I don’t think it just automatically works if he doesn’t enforce it to because if that was the case nobody would be able to surprise attack him just like Spider Man Spidy senses in every scenario it doesn’t always work! PLUS another reason since when do you know any of the Marvel or MCU movies to follow exactly EVERYTHING from the comics or cartoons? They never stick exactly to the script when it comes to all characters ability!
