    I watched this video a couple months ago cuz im running out of balisong content and heres my second time through. I HAVE A QUESTION, can you do this with aluminum???

    • @CodSlap
      @CodSlap Před rokem

      No, man - sorry. Anodizing aluminum requires actual colour.
      The electric method works on titanium, since it creates a ’fake’ colour: the anodization layer it creates is actually transparent, but as light reflects off the titanium, it also bounces off the anodization layer, but at a different angle. The reflected light waves mingle and cancel each other out partially, and we perceive the result as colour. The effect is weird and cool as heck.
      Only works on titanium, though.

    Hi Ace, I’ve tried the splatter ano before on my 51, but removing the nail polish made my liners look dirty and dull and faded. Am I messing up a process?

    • @-acebalisong-4346
      @-acebalisong-4346  Před 3 lety +5

      It is hard to say, but you may just need to continue cleaning it with the nailpolish remover. The dullness may just come from smeared nail polish. If you have Instagram you can message me there with pictures and I can try to help further

    How did you dispose of the whink? Do you neutralize the acid? I believe it's household hazardous waste after you're done with it. I was thinking after I bought it if it dissolves titanium I don't want to pour it down my drain and find out what else it dissolves.

    • @krustykrew106
      @krustykrew106 Před rokem

      Baking soda neutralizes it, slowly pour it in at a time because it will fizz and bubble and keep doing that until it no longer reacts

    Isnt sand paper and sanding sponge the same thing?
    And what grit did have your sanding sponge?

    • @-acebalisong-4346
      @-acebalisong-4346  Před 2 lety

      The grit doesn't matter and the sanding sponge is much nicer to the metal than paper bc paper is harder

    do you have to remove the previous anodization? what happens if you don’t?

    • @-acebalisong-4346
      @-acebalisong-4346  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, there's a specific color order that titanium anodizes in and if you start with a previous ano it will just go from there onto the next color I'm the spectrum

  • @Brewdiver82
    @Brewdiver82 Před rokem +1

    After all the prep work, and then you start handling your parts with your bare hands before doing your coating? Also, adjustable power supplies are like 80 bucks on amazon and give you infinitely more control over the process. You probably spent half of that on 9v batteries. Whink does the job, but destroys a nice surface. Get some multi etch. Good video showing the different types of techniques, but for people who spend thousands of dollars on knives and then can't even bother to buy basic equipment to do the best job possible makes me laugh.

      @brilspolymathstudios Sure. If he wants to have poor surface prep and ghetto rig stuff for half the cost of a permanent solution then he can 😂

      @@-acebalisong-4346 no it's not. You cannot achieve vibrant high voltage colors, it's extremely hard on the titanium. It's horrible poisonous. I mean it can even be fatal absorbed through your skin.
      Multi-etch is the thing to use.
      114g ammonium persulphate
      21g sodium fluoride
      1 liter distilled water.
      That's a quart of multi-etch
