- This is an older video that I ( Caleb ) posted to my own channel when I first moved out to Montana, but instead of continuing on my own channel I've decided to just keep posting them here.

I spent a week alone in the mountains up my favorite river in Montana. My parents came up one night to go for a ride on their side by side and the rest of the time I was just living the Van life and fly fishing.

I watched this with my 4-year-old grandson, and he really loved it. So did I. I'm glad that you chose not to narrate, not because I think you would have not done a great job, but rather because the beauty and majesty of the area needed nothing added.

That was one of the most stunningly shot videos I've seen. You did what I've dreamed of doing for 40 years. I'm happy that you were able to experience that and share it with us. I'm still hoping to get on a remote Montana stream and fly fish for cutthroats like you did. Very nice. And I'm looking forward to more, keep them coming.

Been a fan since I discovered Allegheny Native in the beginning and have learned a lot from your films- Having spent years guiding canoe trips in Maine's backcountry over 40 years ago, your fire side scenes take me way back. Great video bro, just came across it while checking out the pa vids. I lived in Montana in the early 80s working as a guide, best fishing i've ever seen. Caught trout in streams you could step across to the big rivers and lake's in urban areas to alpine lake's at 10,000ft. Enjoy every second brother.

Beautiful state. Never been there but is on bucket list for sure. IMO cutthroat are the elite trout to catch. Main reason is that they all seem to be wild, not farm raised. Great video. Like the no narration. Sometimes silence speaks volumes. People that speak too much are hiding something.
The furthest I've taken our Vanagon from here is VA is up to Penns Creek. Didn't have 1st gear on that drive, so it was a little sketchy at times. I don't think she'll ever make it out to MT! Really fun video to watch and listen to. Thanks for sharing it.

I've fished the backwoods of Potter county my whole life. Recently moved to Detroit Michigan area. I steelhead fish religiously but I'm considering making a Montana trip to get the cutty off my bucket list. Haha take me fishing!

But for the most over here, all they want to know is how to catch heap loads of fish and Who will get the biggest. Might try something like this one day. I don't think people understand the work, that went into producing a quality film like this. Excellent Caleb! Your westys sweet, im trying to find a syncro camper. Anyways I enjoyed every second, I'll be watching it again w my wife, and again and again to learn. I'm teaching myself to film alone so I can eventually create a decent video. This is an absolutely gorgeous video story all around. Engaging, wild yet refined, and well filmed/crafted/edited . . It Warmed my heart amidst a winter day and made me long to hit the road to fish Montana. Would you be able to share any the music from this? (especially around 18:00)

I can’t tell if this is just another dirty hippie vanlife video with way too much slowmo and B roll, or a beautiful story that captures the essence of flyfishing for cutthroat in the back country. Maybe it’s both.
