    It seemed to me Jonas countered pretty easily, more than some attacks from last years race. It might not have been an all out attack, but it was strong enough to leave the rest of the peloton behind, so, it must have been pretty hard

    I love listening to Johan and his analysis of things. He was right that Bardet would lose yellow today too. All the announcers hosting the TDF on Peacock thought he would keep yellow, including George Hincapie on the Move yesterday. Only Johan thought otherwise, and he was dead on.

    JB, everyone keeps saying that Jonas will only get stronger as the race goes on. However it seemed like Tadej did not have the strength last year in the final week of the tour, and last year he was injured before the race. If that is true, how can Jonas have enough in the tank for the last week or so of the tour after his injuries? No one seems to be talking about that. If Jonas's body is still recovering from injury, It seems logical that at some point he will run out of gas, or lose more over the tour than the healthy riders, making him vulnerable.

    • @Shadowboost
      @Shadowboost Před 5 dny +3

      At some point, Jonas's body will exerting no extra resources towards damage recovery and all for performance recovery

    • @alexanderishere1857
      @alexanderishere1857 Před 5 dny +1

      The team and doctors have always said that perhaps Jonas' biggest strength is how fast he physiologically recovers. That is one reason why people expect him to get stronger over time. The other is that his body is probably still recovering from the injuries a bit. Over time that should also be better. But of course the unknown is whether his form is deep enough to handle a long race. We don't know that.

    Great show and love the insight Johan brings to it - keep up the good work. At one point JB was comparing the strengths of the Visma and UAE teams but also conceded that it wasn't just a team numbers game. When Pogacar won the Tour in 2020, Jumba Visma were by far the strongest team, yet often Pogacar would simply use Jumba Visma as a surrogate team riding with them / using them. He did get caught out once when he wasn't shadowing Jumba Visma by crosswinds and lost a minute or so. Had it not been for this, the win over Roglic would have been even bigger.

This season he is doing a very good season so far, remember that his team is only Pro -continental and this is their 2nd time in the tour de France, so far he's performing very well, this teams objectives are also to show themselves to the world, their sponsors and their riders. This Norwegian team also exists to provide a chance to Norwegian riders who other way couldn't be on a stage like the tour de France!

    Roglic lost time today is not good. I expected to see him up there with Jonas/Tadej, especially he has won on this climb 4x (3 Giro Amelia and Giro ITT). I can't figure out if he lost because of his position also plus bad leg, or he was just lacking overall? I saw he wasn't in 5 riders upfront, So I was hoping his cumulative dropped is because he was on the limit and compounded by he was out position. Still, not a good start morally. Especially with a blockbuster transfer and his debut with his team were disaster. There's no aura of "certainty" like when he was riding with VL. He wasn't as sparkling as he used to be. I hope he would bounce back on stage 4. After all, his nickname is Mr, Miracle Bounce Back Man.
    Btw VL got so many bad luck after a very sucessful last year, .. probably because their lucky charm (Roglic) has left the team...🤣🤣.. He has been taking the crash for the team, Now.. he wasn't there.. everyone crashing all over the place.. LOL

    EXCELLENT show guys! Glad to see Jonas doing well... and better than most of us expected... but it's still early... Hoping he keeps improving his form... It does appear that we are going to get the TdF we were hoping for... The "Big 4" all look to be in the game... My 2 cents worth... I think, that along with Jonas's good form, the heat has kept Tady from trying to light up Jonas and the field... Can Visma possibly keep their riders off the tarmac at any race this year!!? Good gosh... Sepp, Kruijy and van Baarle aren't even at the Tour... and the top three they do have, are scrapped up by day 2! GUYS! RUBBER SIDE DOWN! Digging Matty J!

    As we saw on stage 2, Jonas is a great puncheur also on shorter steep climbs. He just usually doesn't bother with those races. I hope he starts caring later. Probably if he wins TdF a couple more times he will start caring about these more. Would be very interesting. He could beat most there. Pogacar will be the main problem still.

    Yes it was not good for Roglic to lose time. But who will chase when he does. That’s if Pogacar and Jonas henchman have been dropped. There is also a scenario where Roglic attacks and either Jorgensen or Adam Yates sits on his wheel and Roglic takes to the line and Jorgensen or Yates steals the jersey. So many what ifs left

    It was a short climb early. Neither were going full gas except for a short attack and cover by Jonas. Tadej knows this is going to be a slog to the finish and it was just a test. Jonas passed the test. The "shit" is wearing yellow whether he wants it now or not. UAE is waiting for consecutive days in the mountains and saving the team early. Tadej sat up and made Jonas go first on the downhill. Seeing if Jonas is sketched out on the descents after the big crash earlier in the season.
