*UPDATE* Amani sadly passed on 21/02/22 only weeks after recording this episode after a 22month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer at just 23yrs old.
Young, Tested & Facing Death with Imam Omar Suleiman
This episode is very special to Amani & her family. Weeks before this interview was recorded Amani's health had deteriorated greatly. She was sleeping most of the day and we all feared that this decline would continue. But alhamdulillah within days of Amani's condition slightly improving she was keen to contribute something to the world that would be of benefit to others being tested like herself.
We had been blessed with Imam Omar Suleiman reaching out to us to provide spiritual counselling to help us through this most difficult of time with Amani's health. Her recent MRI scan had shown that the cancer had spread extensively within her brain and now also into her spine. ² Oncologists had offered one last chance of chemotherapy treatment to help buy more time for Amani. With everything we were dealing with and all the emotions that we have experienced since Amani fell ill, it was exactly what we needed. We had many conversations with Imam Omar Suleiman via video chat where we could talk through our emotions and difficulties. When Amani suggested she do a podcast with Imam Omar Suleiman he was more than happy to take part.
With much raw vulnerability, Amani speaks about the questioning and doubts that she may have had throughout her journey with brain cancer. She also tackles topics such as Paradise, concessions in worship, struggling to understand certain verses of the Qur'an, whether terminal patients are allowed to refuse treatment and much, much more.
We would like to thank Imam Omar Suleiman for his kindness and patience. You will see him answer all of Amani's questions with islamic advice given with great sensitivity and compassion.
Amani and all her family hope that this episode in particular will be a great source of benefit to others going through trials. We also pray that this is accepted as sadaqah jariyah for Amani. Ameen.

Amani continues to make us the proudest parents ever!!! This interview is unashamedly raw, honest, heartfelt and addresses the difficult questions as to why good people suffer. Imam Omar Suleiman shares his precious time and wisdom whilst humbly responding to many of the challenging questions Muslims often feel guilty of even thinking about, let alone asking. Amani does not hold back in pressing for answers on behalf of all young people suffering ill health and trials in this life. A legacy any young person can be proud of.

Indeed it is very difficult to see a girl age 23 passed away. She must have gone through so much hardship and suffering. May Allah grant Sister Amani Jannatul firdaws and forgive her sins. It's a sign for young boys and girls to fear Allah SWT as much as we can as death does not see any age. May Allah give youngsters like us his consciousness.

It's not important how you were raised but how you die, your last deeds. I was raised atheist and am Muslimah now. One question, how is it possible that Arabic book (the Quran), is memories by 1000s across the world even today? By non Arabs. I myself know 1 Somali man, 2 Bengoli and also Pakistani. If this was the work of false prophet, no way it would effect people in the way it does. Please look into it, by Allah it is the truth!

Life is temporary. We bow and prostrate to the king of kings. Any calamity that strikes always has benefit in it. Blessings are hidden like diamonds and pearls are hidden deep in the ground. The body may be ill but the spirit is not.
We are dead and then we are born. We then die and we are born again. This world is not the final destination and the sooner we accept that, the easier life becomes.
Whatever Allah almighty wills, we still love him because his our Lord, creator and owner.

"Nothing like the comfort and the compensation" of being tested - I have been thinking of Amani and your family every day since I first heard her story nearly a year ago. I "used" her journey as a way to motivate me to do more, be more. Her death has impacted so many of us who didn't know her in real life, but only on social media. The ache is there (and in no way compares to your pain), but to hear her speak on this still allows us to smile while thinking of her. What an impactful woman you raised.

I have just been made aware of this sisters short journey today, after hearing this podcast which is one of the most unique conversations I have come across in terms of honesty and vulnerability. With the advice and guidance from Imam Suleiman spoken so softly and to the heart. Cancer is something that effects many and this perspective I have the upmost empathy for, it has given me an understanding of the plight of a believer that I never really comprehended till this conversation. Losing my Aunt who battled for years yet always wore a beautiful smile and would remind us of our creator every chance she got till her last days, I understand now why. May Allah reward her and all those that have suffered in this duniya with the beauty of Jannah. Till we are reunited insha'Allah.
Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un, I pray Allah eternally rewards Sister Amani for her journey in this duniya, grant sabr to her loved ones and may she return to her lord sinless and be granted the highest ranks in Jannah. Ameen 🤲🏾

No difficulty without ease riding alongside it. The form of ease, its pace, its salience, will vary and wil often be hard to see...but it is there.
The loved ones become a form of ease for the one at the centre of the hardship; the spirit of the one at the centre becomes a form of ease for the loved one; a healthcare worker becomes a source of ease for a moment; a memory comes gliding in, bringing a gust of ease. Allah always gives ease in many forms, even when we don't notice.
May Amani and her family feel the ease, no matter its form or pace.
Our Lord, we rely on Your mercy. Don't leave Amani and her family to themselves, even for the blink of an eye. So make excellent all their affairs. There is no God except You.

Sister Amani has given such a brave podcast May Allah grant her and her family the relief and the best hereafter. All I can say is wow. I'm so glad I came across this podcast and I listened to it all with a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. My heart breaks for you Amani and your family, I pray for that Allah grants you swift and complete shifa and grants you the very best in this life and the next. The questions you asked are the very questions I have had running through my mind this past 8 months but was too afraid to even acknowledge let alone say out loud due to, I guess, guilt or embarrassment. I suffered from a pregnancy loss which developed into cancer, all 6 months into my marriage and it became a lot to deal with. I pray Allah swt grants us the sabr to understand that His plans are bigger than anything we can comprehend and that what ever he decides for us is ultimately for the best xxx

You have used your vulnerability to benefit this ummah and the best of people are those who benefit others. Your last point on jealousy is something people won't even admit to themselves so thank you for your efforts. May Allah bless, protect and preserve Dr Omar Suleiman and you in good health and iman. What can we say to you that you haven’t heard yet. Like you said you have done things that you wouldn’t have normally done due to your difficulties and that’s a blessing snd you were chosen.
Don’t forget Allah’s promise is real.
And he (swt) has promised us ease whether here or in the hereafter. I haven’t met any young person who is like you. Who has held on Tom the rope of Allah and I’m sure Allah is pleased with you. We will continue to pray for ease and comfort for you. Love ❤️ you
