Had this gun in the hand today - the grip is amazing! (Q5 Match Champion) INSTANT LOVE! Tried beside CZ Shadow 2 ... CZ SP-01 and a Beretta M9A3 ... the Q5 felt part of my body, the others weren't close.
It's genuinely one of the best looking pistols I've ever seen
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
Did you see the new berreta performance ?
Excellent review. Lots of detailed info. Frequently carry the 4" barrel compact ppq. Still like an all steel. Will carry this one. Have a steel Sig 228. Was State police standard for yrs. Also carry 4" dbl stack 9mm 2011. Both weigh in, loaded, just over 40oz. Have adapted, don't notice the hier weight. Like them becuz they shoot so well. Did replace the grip with blue/black custom grip frm Lokgrips. Thinner, no palm swell backstrap. Looks good. Grip colour matches trigger. CNC machined. Very good texture. Re your thumb knuckle problem. I always shoot wearing fingerless gloves. So no issue. Thanks.
Great review, if you get the Black Ribbon model it comes with the Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger, which is a improvement over the standard.
Nice review. What I love most about it is, it steel. Unique that it's a steel striker fired pistol. Will be on my list.
Thank you Keanon! It definitely is unique. Cheers brother!
Can’t wait to see the “If I can only have one”. I think your reviews are honest and objective and you keep in mind that guns are pretty subjective for some gun owners (as you can see from my name, lol). If I could shoot the Shadow 2 in IDPA I would only have just one. Since I can’t I’m always on the look out for a weight legal steel gun for IDPA. Thank you for your reviews!
Thank you very much for the nice compliment! I am definitely looking forward to doing the If I Could Only Have One although it’s tough to beat the Shadow 2, lol. Cheers CZ Fan Girl!
As someone who doesn't use forward slide serrations for their intended purpose, I think the banner is a nice touch. Sweet pistol and awesome review!
Well said brother! Thank you and cheers!
I love my Q5 Match SF Pro, it's a Functional Work of Art. I also switched to Green Fiber optic.
I agree with you on the trigger, for a competition gun it should be a little lighter.
I am strongly considering trading 3 of my guns just for this. Rarely do any firearms feel this perfect in my hand.
This Walther is the best looking production gun I have seen in awhile.
Great job as usual. Thank you!
Thank you very much! Cheers!
I own the PPQ M2. I would like to see a different design for the slide and frame in the future.
Excellent review. Well spoken, nice close ups and b-roll. Thumbs up
Thank you very much! Cheers!
This was my first gun about 5 months ago and I absolutely love it! I now have 6 guns cause I couldn't stop lol. It's like tattoos once you get one suddenly your covered in em lol. I have the FN 509 for my Conceal carry and the Q5's trigger blows it out of the water that being said I still love the 509
Thanks brother for yet another awesome review. This gun’s been on top of my wish list for 2019 since Walther announced its release. The price is a bit too rich for my blood though so I guess I have to cut back drastically on beer and daily coffees for a long while lol. It’s by far one of the coolest and bad-ass looking pistols out there and if Batman was given the choice to pick a 9mm for his sidearm he would definitely opt for this one lol. Heck, in some aspects it’s even looking cooler than the new Alien pistol. It’s a bit early but I think this gun is on its way to become the best production competition gun right out of the box. Thanks again
Tough to cut out the beer and coffee! I do agree that Batman may indeed like this one. Thank you and cheers!
What size is the fiber optic rod in the front sight?
Excellent review brother! This one has definitely peaked my interest, however I will be holding out until the price comes down a bit.
Thank you Jasper! I completely understand brother. Cheers!
Has anyone made a comparison to the CZ TS 2(non Shadow model)?
What one feels better in the hand?
That feedramp is polished for sure. Ive not seen an out of the box gun with a polish that nice.
It’s pretty well polished for sure! Thank you and cheers!
why do you need the pro model for the 17rd mags? don't they work in the "standard" frame? Can't you just buy them separately?
I have the Q4 SF I LOVE THIS PISTOL. I own 2 pistols with suppressor height sites. If you're using a red dot on this pistol and you do not know enough about your pistol to know where that round is going you should be able to hit your target regardless.
Great review wanted a good German performance gun is the raised mag release needed or is profound and you want miss it on a quick mag change just curious going to yry the trigger but the black diamond version has the dynamic upgrade trigger
I love my Q5 SF, but my med/sm hands struggle just a bit. Still not as bad as the CZ S2. I'll be picking up the slim Lok grips as soon as they're available. I got the Non-pro, as I'll be picking up some +6 baseplates.
Really want one of these as a competition pistol when I get into an adaptive shooting league.
Really Nice Looking pistol. Great Video and love the intro KS 👍👍 Have A Blessed Weekend KS ..
Thank you Steven! It’s been a fun gun indeed. Cheers and have a great weekend as well brother!
Just bought one for my wife to shoot ipsc. She has the ppq5 22 now so not much for her to get used too. Thought it was a great choice. Beautiful gun. Cz tso for myself though.
The front sight is 1.0 or 1.5 mm of diameter?
Love the color of that trigger!!!!!!
I do too! Thank you and cheers!
Would you go with this or FN LS edge ?
What a great looking gun ! Great review as always 👍 .
Thank you Dave! Cheers brother!
Great video, as always. I’d love to get my paws on one of those.
Thank you very much! Cheers Cosmos!
Overwatch precision trigger and sprinco spring kit can easily achieve a 3.5# trigger. Will be buying one of these shortly!
Mine has a 2 and a half lbs trigger I changed the trigger spring and the striker block spring and put blue loc grips on it
I would love to see Walther release this with a Tungsten Cerakote or Grey PVD frame with the black controls and grip. That would look very sexy.
That would look very cool! Thank you and cheers!
KSGunGuy - how goes it? I was wondering how the muzzle flip is on this compared to the Shadow 2? I owned a polymer PPQ M2 5" before, loved the ergonomics - the trigger was great too. I didn't care for the muzzle flip and sold it - using the funds for a Shadow 2 :). I love the Shadow 2 (highlight it quite a bit on my channel) and wondered how you felt about the two pistols in comparison since they are both aimed at the competition market. THANKS!
I'll be doing a feature comparison between the two very soon! Thank you and cheers!
Here in germany we get a slightly upgraded trigger with our pro-model (they call it the 'champion model' and the 'champion grade trigger'). Also the price is slightly higher, comming at about 1800€ - which roughly translates to 2020$ US; but guns are almost always about 10 to 20% cheaper in the US - most likely because of the bigger market.
Unfortunately the 'all-black' version (like the US 'pro-model') is only launched in june, so I have to wait till then to get mine. The ones they are shipping right now all have blue magwells and baseplates which I really don't like.
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
I loved the regular PPQ M2 (mostly because of the trigger) and I think this one will be my next handgun. :)
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
Is the poly version worth 800? $1500 is a lot and really dont want to spend the extra buy the steel does look better
I have small hands and tend to get that bite on the thumb you showed at the beginning of the video. Do you think this gun would be a problem for me? I have the P320 and it fits my hand great, especially in a small grip module. The G19 would give me that same bite on my thumb.
With smaller hands, this may be a bit of a struggle. Thank you and cheers!
Another great review. Looking forward to seeing the “If I could have only one” between this and the Shadow 2 because I’m between the two on which one will be the next addition to my gun family.
It will be an interesting comparison indeed! Thank you and cheers!
KSGunGuy, curios also what your thoughts are comparing this new Walther to the Canik TPSFX since the Canik “borrowed” so heavily from that platform and you reviews that one too...How would you compare the triggers, accuracy etc. Is the Walther SF worth more than twice the price?
I would say the Canik has a marginally better trigger but the Walther is going to be flatter. The TP9SFX is tough to beat for the money to be honest with you.
KSGunGuy Great feedback, thanks for the replies!
@@BagsEsquire My pleasure!
Managed to snag myself one of these babies from a local gunstore brand spankin new for $1,245.99 instead of the listed price of $1,599.99 (not the pro model). Gotta say Its a damn fine gun!
Originally wanted an STI Marauder until it was discontinued. Ended up dropping the 2011 and picked up a Shadow 2.... Hands down the best 9mm pistol I have come across! As someone who has to make every firearm I own “perfect”, the Shadow got Lok grips and TT base plates.... It literally needs no modification aside from that!
The Shadow 2 is amazing for sure and you can’t go wrong with Lok! Thank you and cheers!
Trigger pull is to each individual. in my opinion. And I do plan on purchasing the steel frame pro version.
Well said! Thank you and cheers!
Out of my price range, but also a cool gun. Good video as usual.
Thank you Alaskan! It’s a great gun but I agree about the price. Cheers brother!
I would certainly love to see, if I could have only one, between the the Walther and the Sig p320 x five. Really love your chanel.
I’ll see what I can do! Thank you and cheers!
I'd be curious to see how it compares to my Grayguns X5. That's around twice the price even after the trigger work.
That would be an interesting comparison for sure! Thank you and cheers!
It looks pretty nice, and has some great features. However, I think I will just keep my Q5 for now. If I spend that kind of money it will be on a S2 or Kriss Vector. Excellent review "as always", have a great weekend brother!
High price seems to be the theme for this gun and I agree. There are some amazing options at this range so it’s tough to drop the coins on the new kid on the block. Thank you and cheers Fu!
Love mine....love it.
Another great video! I am really looking forward to the Shadow 2 comparison and would also like a direct comparison to the Q5 polymer. The Steel frame sounds like a great gun but at twice the prices, well you can buy a lot of ammo and range time with the additional $800 dollars! So would love to know if you felt the steel frame improved your shooting enough to justify the cost. I am in the market for a comp gun and was looking at the Q5 and the TP9Sfx along with a few others and initially got excited about this gun until I heard the price. I am not sure the investment required for the Steel frame would make enough of a difference to justify it unless I was a top tier competitor, Unfortunately, this will never be a gun I can rent to try at my local range. Thanks for all your great videos!
Thank you Mark! Well said about getting a lot of ammo and range time for that kind of money. I do think the steel frames allows for more accurate shooting for most, though I don’t know that it justifies the price. For everyday shooters and competitors, there are definitely great options out there for sure. Cheers brother!
KSGG, had to hear your thoughts. Well done as always, but I don’t think I’ll ever leave my CZ Shadow 2 Happy Place Forever. 🇺🇸
The Shadow 2 is definitely an amazing gun! Thank you and cheers!
I just purchased one and it appears that they've stopped including the red dot mounting plate and have opted to allow the purchaser to order 1 complementary base plate. Pretty cheesy for them to do this for the price point in my opinion
Great video ksgunguy! The price tag is a killer for me. Do you have any experience with the arex alpha from fime group? Much of the desired features for $1,100 msrp.
It’s pretty pricey indeed. The Alpha definitely looks cool! Thank you and cheers!
Not from a gun ownership country (UK) so not sure what a competition gun means? Can someone please clarify what competition means and how military guns differ to competition guns? Thanks
Competition guns are basically target guns (think pistol shooting for the Olympics but with "regular" calibre rounds, e.g. 9mm) and are built for speed and accuracy but less practical outside competition shooting. They're made heavier (usually with an all steel construction) because the gun will jump around (recoil) less due to inertia when you fire it meaning you can reacquire the target faster. Plus they have a lighter trigger pull which increases accuracy. For military guns you want less weight (lower half of the frame which comprises of the handle and trigger assembly, etc made out of lighter polymer) because carrying around a heavy secondary weapon like a pistol will get tiresome (remember you need to carry ammunition, etc as well!) and they generally have heavier trigger pulls to reduce the likelihood of accidental firing (negligent discharge). The main exception to this is the 1911 pistol.
Well I think the PPQ and P10c are the best striker guns out there....so yes I have a Qmatch(polymer frame) and it is an awesome gun.
That’s awesome Glockster! I too love the P10. Thank you and cheers!
Great review!
1) About comparing it to the Shadow 2: the Q5 SF seems to fill an interesting gap of non-polymer striker-fired guns. While there are plenty of top DA/SA (Shadow 2) and polymer striker guns (Q5, P320X5), which other non-polymer strikers for comp shooting come to your mind?
2) About the trigger pull: like the Shadow 2, the Q5 SF (non-pro version) seems to be very much designed for production class (IPSC, not sure about USPSA/DPA), which has a 5 pound threshold. Not an issue for the light Shadow SA trigger due to first DA pull in production, but for striker guns. With going for 3-4 pounds, they may have lost many potential buyers in this market.
Well said and great info about the triggers! Thank you and cheers!
It's an amazing gun no doubt, better than the shadow 2? I just don't think so. Great video man
Haha!! We shall see about that match-up. Thank you and cheers brother!
Nobody asked what you think, fruitcake.
Beretta 92X 🏆
Nice pistol for sure as thanks for the info and vid....Good stuff....
Thank you very much Scott! Cheers brother!
What material is that blue trigger?? Is it polymer or metal that is coated blue?
Plastic
Any logic as why the rear sight cant be on at the same time as the optic?
Walther has released a optic plate that contains the rear sight to co-witness
That's a beautiful pistol I love it
Thank you very much! Cheers!
Such a gorgeous gun, I would pick up a Deltapoint with the optional iron sight attachment for it and run that optic on it. It seems like this is a much cleaner and more "high end" Canik TP9SFX, though I do wish that it had a ported barrel.
I agree! It definitely is a good looking gun. A ported barrel would certainly be interesting on this. Thank you and cheers!
Remembering my PPQ, that looks like the reset that I had. A little more tuning should have gone into the trigger when you look at the price difference between this and the Q5. That being said.....I would not be upset owning this.
I completely agree brother. For the money, there should have been more refining and tuning. My old PPQ M2 trigger seemed a bit nicer to be honest. Thank you and cheers TP!
I really want to get one but the price is a little high I'm not sure if I should just save up or just wait till the price drops down there around 800
I don’t think it’s ever going to hit 800 for new. At best, you may see it for 1300 in the next 6 to 12 months. Thank you and cheers!
It's like my Shadow and Q5 Match hooked up and had a baby! Walther got it right making it IDPA weight legal. Not sure why CZ didn't want to capture some of the IDPA market with the CZ Shadow 2. Looks like my Q5 will be upgrading to a SF. As my eyes get older I need the carry optics. One of the reasons I love the Q5 is the fact you don't co-witness. Plus I don't need my prescription glasses to see the red dot!
Right on! The SF has been very impressive. Thank you and cheers!
What caliber?
Money aside what's your opinion on this vs the Archon type b? Which one shoots flatter, feels better, and the one you would choose?
Tough question but I’d go with the Archon I think. I just love the feel of it, and frankly, it’s an awesome shooter. Thank you and cheers!
@@KSGunGuy01 Thanks for the reply
How "flat" a gun shoots is entirely dependent upon the external ballistics of the bullet being launched. What is its ballistic coefficient (BC)? How fast is it going when it leave the muzzle? You may be asking about precision and accuracy. Differences in precision and accuracy are a combination of the quality of the barrel, the condition of the barrel's crown, and the quality of the rounds being fired (primer and powder burn consistency, powder burn characteristics, bullet concentricity in the case, consistent crimping, consistent bullet weight and BC, etc.).
Shoot the gun that feels best in your hand and that you can afford. Chances are very good that the gun will shoot good ammo better than you can direct it. The weakest link in the factors that make up accuracy and precision is usually the shooter!
How much please for this one?
I need to make a Discision.
Walter P99 or S&W M&P 2.O campact or
Sig P320X or Walter PPQ
HELP ME PLEASE
Do u like this more than PPQ?
can we still get this. I thought they stop making it.
Does it come with grip straps...? I have small hands. Good review.
no, it's a one piece wraparound grip but there are aftermarket grips too like lokgrips.com
What an awesome plinker
Nice looking firearm, and great review.
Thank you very much 32! Cheers!
SWEET! 😍
Thanks GB! Cheers brother!
Looks like a great gun, like many others I agree the price is out of line. It should have been near the shadow 2 range.
Thanks D! I do agree about the price. It may keep the SF out of contention for most buyers. Cheers brother!
Will the apex flat triggers for the q5 match polymer frame work in this??
Great question! I am not sure and have not talked to Apex about it yet. Thank you and cheers!
Quick question KS...are the slides identical between the polymer and the sf match guns bc it looks like it other than the sf markings. The internals looks very similar too, trigger assembly etc. Other than a different take down and steel guide rod did Walther release just a new frame and use all the same parts they had for the original q5. Sorry for the lengthy question...
this is priced the same as cz tactical sports orange, hope the price come down a bit in the future, weather are usually affordable and as good as HKs
I agree completely! Thank you and cheers!
Nice KS looks like a winner to me 👍
Thank you very much Youngguns! Cheers brother!
Thats the coolest looking gun.
That’s a beautiful weapon
Thank you very much! Cheers!
2019 is the year of steel frame striker pistols :D
You may be right! Thank you and cheers!
would you agree that for smaller hands the shadow 2 would feel better than the walther?
Yes, I do believe so. Thank you and cheers!
Great info as usual , looks awesome but I think Walther should of kept the price around $900--$1000 !!!
Thank you very much and I completely agree about the price. It’s an awesome gun but probably not worth the $1500 or more. Cheers!
Great review. Very informative. I am really interested in getting the Q5 Match SF but I am always skeptical with those first productions. Are there going to be vast improvements on it down the line? Lower pricing? Better/more accessories? While for me the price is not an issue, what is an issue is the fact that I live in NJ and one of the perks turns into an additional headache. The mags have to be modified to 10 rounds which increases the price...THAT is an issue. Also, I was initially going towards the Shadow 2 but I am definitely more of a Walther fan. Decisions, decisions...
Thank you! I think this one is pretty safe since it's really a modified version of a well established gun, the PPQ. I do agree that the mag modifying is unfortunate. As for the Shadow 2.... tough to go wrong there! Thank you and cheers!
One + point for the Shadow 2 is you can buy MEC gar magazines10 round for 18.00 bucks too.
@@rosiebear8085 thanks for that info
Chill on the trigger pull, it's a major production gun. To put a light competition trigger out of the box is asking for trouble.
On the range anyone can rip off rounds fast with no stress.
Just my $ .02.
Keep Rockin ;)
Great video, just bought one myself👍🏻. Which front sight did you put on it? Manufacturer and model?
Huh? It came with the gun. Thank you and cheers!
KSGunGuy, I see. Mine came with a red frontsight. I have not seen a green one from Walther. Would be nice to have a green one if i fit an optic on it, to make the contrast between them.
You can just buy the fibers. Very easy to do.
Good Looking firearm. Nice video
Thank you Brian! Cheers!
Good review. Great gun.
Thank you very much! I agree about the gun. Cheers!
I have fired both. Q5 & Shawdow 2. With a view of buying the Q5. For the money, I am going with the Shadow 2. I am a Walther kinda guy. Got 4 of them. But CZ it's going to be for the value
When is your review coming out on the Glock 48?
It’s on the way! The 43x drops tomorrow, and the 48 next week. Thank you and cheers!
That kind of money puts it in a class that it just does not compete very well imo. Very cool though. Thanks for the video!
It’s definitely on the higher end B! Great shooter though. Thank you and cheers!
Is it me or does the Q5 grip look way thicker than the CZ?
It’s a little bit thicker but not by much. Thank you and cheers!
Dude i want this gun so bad. I really need to hit the lottery. Great video brother as always.
Thanks Jon! It’s a fun shooter for sure. Cheers brother!
@@KSGunGuy01 I just think it's gorgeous. One of the best looking unmodified guns I've ever seen'. I carry am M2 so I'm a big Walther fan.
I do agree that it’s good looking.
I do agree that it’s good looking.
Love walther love this gun as well. But when I shoot my less expensive cz it makes me feel like the walther is over priced. I'm glad to own it but wish we could get a little more from it. Just fyi the grip is s little fat. So smaller hands might have trouble with mag release.
Right on and I agree! Thank you and cheers!
@@KSGunGuy01 try the 'thin' grips from lokgrips
Good looking gun, higher capacity mags for comp guns should be standard, at least 20 rnd plus.
Yes I do agree with that! Thank you and cheers!
This vs the Sig X-Five seems like a great matchup
It sure would be Jake! Thank you and cheers!
I'm seeing the Sig X Five for 700- 800
This shit is the future. I need this!
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
How does it compare to the Canik?
Great question! The trigger on the Canik is better but the Q5 is a flatter shooter due to the steel. Thank you and cheers!
I could see the all steel version of this pistol being at this price point !!!
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
I am buying one next week, are they mfg in Germany or USA.
Right on! I believe Germany but am not 100% sure. I imagine someone will comment if that’s not on the mark. Thank you and cheers!
Great review. I have the Q4 and added the mag well. But my triggers are better in my Glock 17 and Canik SFX both are heavy modded where the Q4 is stock. I think this should be $1000 and not $1600.
Thank you very much! I completely agree that this should probably have landed around $1000, especially considering the other options out there. Cheers!
Fair price IMO 1,200 +/- for no mag well. They are new to the market so they cost 1350.00 or more price for no mag well. Price will drop over time.
If it can't be found in the "used" market, it would be safe to say it's a good gun.
I haven't shot a competition in almost 20 years so for me to warrant spending nearly 2K on a pistol too large to conceal and too heavy to want to carry is not going to happen at this point now if I were to take up competition shooting again that would be a different story but then I would buy a Sig P-210 single action 9mm it is about the smoothest running firearm I have ever shot in my life and roughly what the CZ-75 is based off of just not in DA/SA not knocking Walther in any way but I prefer a hammer fired pistol for competition shooting and to be honest I prefer to run with iron sights and RMR free only because that is how I learned and it is familiar not that I wouldn't appreciate the option that the Q5 offers it is a great looking pistol that is generously equipped just not my cup of tea
Very well said Coiler! I do agree that there are some amazing options at this price point or even a little cheaper. Thank you and cheers!
