  • Hi, I’m Dana and I have been a pediatric physical therapist for 25 years. You can read more about my practice at the top of my channel. I see kids for a lot of different disabilities including developmental delay, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, genetic disorders, dystrophies, and more. I cannot give individualized medical advice on social media and you need your doctors permission to try any exercises with your child. A therapist needs to be trained in order to perform these highly skilled exercises.
    I see kids for intensives in Cary, North Carolina for 1,2, or 3 weeks for 2 visits per day. We are able to show a lot of progress with our little patients and I share that to bring hope to other parents around the world. You can find booking information at the link at the top of my channel.
    The exercises I use are based on Cueves Medek Exercises. We give novel experiences to kids to work on neuroplasticity of the brain which allows us to improve gross motor skills.
    Take a look at an entire visit at AKAP as we work with this sweet pea on walking. All of my exercises can be found on my highlights section of Instagram.

    I have worked with so many adults who could have benefitted from early gentle help like this, that is so sad but I hope your children flourish x

      It really is a crime so many are left to atrophy in wheelchairs & such. I believe most of this can be prevented at least to different degrees depending on the level of disability of course. It just makes sense that early intervention when the body is growing so quickly THIS is the time to make sure that it's neurological connections arent allowed to go dormant- they CAN be retaught after injuries or even delayed by some pregnancy development problem. Just my opinion.

    Building the path from the brain to the muscles 💪 is not a thinking process but repeatedly/consistently doing it & that is the same for older ppl.
    Stand up sit / stand up sit. It is hard & painful but worth it 👌 ✨️ ❤️

    why do most of the children cry? Does the physical therapy hurt?

    • @kathyflorcruz552
      @kathyflorcruz552 Před 39 minutami

      They're children unaccustomed to the new things they're doing. Naturally crying is their way of protesting. They aren't in pain it's just new to them. If you watch more videos you see the children get more calm & happy as they accomplish more.

    Can you explain why the boxes wobble?

    • @kathyflorcruz552
      @kathyflorcruz552 Před 38 minutami

      It's to get the child to react by reflex to find balance & to strengthen their muscles & get them used to feeling this new way of life.
