  • Hi, I’m Dana and I have been a pediatric physical therapist for 25 years. You can read more about my practice at the top of my channel. I see kids for a lot of different disabilities including developmental delay, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, genetic disorders, dystrophies, and more. I cannot give individualized medical advice on social media and you need your doctors permission to try any exercises with your child. A therapist needs to be trained in order to perform these highly skilled exercises.
I see kids for intensives in Cary, North Carolina for 1,2, or 3 weeks for 2 visits per day. We are able to show a lot of progress with our little patients and I share that to bring hope to other parents around the world. You can find booking information at the link at the top of my channel.
The exercises I use are based on Cueves Medek Exercises. We give novel experiences to kids to work on neuroplasticity of the brain which allows us to improve gross motor skills.
These should be done only by a trained therapist and doctor approval. Exercises are done at your own risk. We only do 3-5 repetitions of each exercise. Please follow instagram @all_kids_are_perfect

It's actually incredible how far disability support has come.
From tucking severely disabled people out of sight to actively working within their sensory limitations.
    It's beautiful to see.

One thing I like about you, Dana, and your team is that you don't do a lot of high pitched laughing and squealing and clapping. So many adults do that but I think it would be distracting and get them over-excited.

You made a wonderful observation. It may not sound germane, but Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer, says exactly this same thing about people making their dogs over-excited because of the way they greet their dogs when they come home from work--with high-pitched voices, squeaking and squealing and baby-talking and with exaggerated excitement. He says, "No touch, no talk, no eye-contact" when you first enter the house, so that the dog does not get excited, but remains calm and easy to manage. The same is true of children. The adults are quiet, calm and reassuring. Wonderful techniques and execution.

@@13c11aAbsolutely! I must confess I think I learned that from Cesar Milan :) I've rescued a lot of fearful dogs who respond well to calm and quiet :)

You are helping so many children *and* so many parents be able to help their children themselves! ❤ You are doing so much good and I hope you know that. 🙏🏼 💖 ✨ You may not be able to travel the globe (and it isn’t expected that you do that!), but you *are* giving parents the tools they need (and the hope) to work on this themselves with their kiddos. Thank you for all the time, effort, and energy you put into this. I know it can’t be easy. ❤ I love learning from your videos and seeing the progress you make with these sweet kids.

The idea of laying on of hands has always been with us. Care for the sick. The 1970's brought books about therapeutic touch, but now, the glorious internet.
I had seen Somatic therapy and movement, usually yoga studio ads. There were practitioners if you knew where to look.
But now….All Kids Are Perfect….we can see.
It’s touch divine. Love wrapped up in persistence.
    Believing is seeing.

Remember, there is an order on my page if your child is struggling with gross motor skills. Go to Instagram:
      1. Always start with AKAP stretch highlights (highlights are colored circles at top of Instagram page).
      2. Learn about the TLR reflex in my reflex highlights.
      3. Head control must come first. Watch head control highlights.
      4. Lastly, watch the highlight on Instagram associated with the gross motor skills you are working on. For example: sitting.
