I first tried doing this on a PC + iPhone, but I could not connect the iPhone to Charlie proxy; however, I later tried on a Mac + iPhone and it worked on the first try. I pre-ordered the Hello Watch 3, so I am assuming mine must be v1.0, and after following this tutorial I was able to get the firmware v4.00.13. After the update, the watch is smoother than ever, and all of the sensors work without having to open the watch. Thank you very much for the tutorial!
Thanks Mat for the good video. The heart rate and SpO2 stopped working, it keeps showing "Please adjust the wearing posture". Compass still not working since v1.
I think it's not worth the update to v4 considering the heart rate / spo2 function no longer works. This affects other features such as sleep monitoring and fitness.
You can fix it easily i did it to mine

Thanks iMat, I successfully updated my hello watch 3 to ver. 4 but in return the heart rate sensor and blood oxygen sensor are not working now. Sleep tracking also was not working.

I wonder when was this recorded. You forgot to turn off debug mode and update again to 4.00.13 (debug mode is no longer needed). It’s been almost a month since this process was posted. But it’s always good to have a visual. Thanks for the video!

A few months ago, when they launched the hw3 plus and I realized that the hardware was the same as the hw3, I always said it was just a software upgrade. It is regrettable that the manufacturer did not do this at the factory for the hw3, but the process you shared went well, thank you in advance for your dedication. Congratulations on the work.

You will have to open the back and then remove the plastic piece on the sensors, I will see if I can manage to make a video on that

Thanks IMAT, it works perfectly, no need to open the back. My only concern is that i cannot see the battery anymore when i scroll up unlike the old version that you can see it in the option below the watch face, But overall, thanks for the video, its a big help.

Bro, the process is essentially copy/paste (perhaps also hand-write the code details for reference) and follow the procedure iMat detailed, in the way he detailed it. I'd *seriously* worry about the intelligence of someone unable to follow simple instructions and copy/paste information from one tab to another 🥴🥴🥴🥴
As for why they didn't make the update, that's very simple: They want people to buy the new watch, rather than just upgrading the software on their existing watch for free... They're a business, they want to make money... 👍👍👍👍

And it's not about intelligence, it's about security on your devices that you use every minute, devices that you use for personal and perhaps family information and security.Aimat himself does not give any security and says that it is at your own risk.

@@chrisepps6992 if the dfu upgrade option appears in the app but when clicking on it it keeps loading and then gives you this error
Then in Charles up top in the action bar there will be an option to repeat last command
Make sure you select the correct line (the api1...) Then click on that repeat green arrow up top
It will spam the executable and you can just keep clicking on json text copying the code and clicking execute on each popup
Keep doing this untill the update starts and reaches 100%
This is the only way that made the update work for me

• Make sure profile is configured on your device. (You need to be rooted in case of Android)
• Make sure the code you paste is exactly like shown in the video (full orange). I have also given the link to the file I used in the description.

I would like to ask Sophie and Imat is it possible to improve the notification options in the Hello Watch 3+? I am not satisfied with it because it is not scrollable (it shows me only a few lines) and for example if I get notification from gmail app the watch shows me only the name of the sender and nothing from the message body.
Is it possible to solve and improve it? In my opinion a lot of users will be very happy with this!

Update: edit window appears now, but when i execute the script the DFU button does not appears on the app, i tried a lot and does not work.
I followed every single step but once I got to the api to enable ssl it’s grayed out for me so I can’t continue.
Update: I was able to enable if after googling about it, anyways after watch updated it went straight to file update and didn’t had to go into developer mode.

Try again and pay attention from 10:20. Especially enabling the SSL proxying and the steps after that are important. Also important that after you refresh the app on your phone, you handle quickly. If you do this too slowly it won’t work

I read that if you have v2 of the watch the sensors still work without removing the gasket. It would be nice to see a video on how to do it. My watch has been sitting in a drawer once I found out support was dropped for it so I might do the update anyways.
Mine is Hello watch 3 Hardware V2 and Heart Rate works fine after update. If you have V2 go for it❤
Heart rate stopped working. There is a video on youtube on how to remove the hw3 rear cover (title: Update & Teardown Of Hello Watch 3: Did I Destroy It? Or Can It Be Fixed?). Seems to me a big risk to mess up the watch.

I updated to 4.00.16 and the step tracker which was what i wanted it for doesnt work. And when i tap walk, it goes back to the home face on the watch, acting like i never even set it. Yeah. The one and only thing i wanted it for now does not work.

No other way in Android. You have to be rooted in order to make charles certificate trusted. Use your friends or family members iPhone
