Regarding the radio it’s not a two min job updating it as all the workings are in the boot (left side- also check for water as they ALL leak there at some point, normally roof joint or boot hinge.)
Cd changer, sat nav drive etc all in the boot, at the from is just a screen with a few buttons on, prob have the pop up screen with tape deck behind.

  • @richard3004
    @richard3004 Před 16 dny +1

Great cars if looked after, had a few of them, currently have a jag engines 4.2sc v8 one.
Warning lights and air suspension is more than likely abs sensor, easy job but normally need drilling out as they corrode in.
Wheels on that arnt right for the engine/ age.
Look out for failing gearbox’s but at 250,000 it will have had one or two rebuilds, GM5 speed isn’t the most hard wearing.
Look out for front and rear subframe corrosion, it can look heavy but good hammering can remove it and then wax it, they are substantially built so don’t rot through too easily.
Check rear arches and sills behind the plastic sill trim as they rot there.
Otherwise look after it and there great machine, parts are cheap too.

As you have found out Matt, they drive absolutely fantastic and the driving expensive is unique.
Reference the air suspension. First turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. This will temporarily turn the lights off. Long term it will be the steering angle sensor. Easy to change, if awkward.
Also a fantastic way of getting L322 content without actually purchasing one.

When mine works I love driving it. She is proper comfy and sounds great. I had to buy the petrol 4.4 v8 cause of ulez. The engine is great it is just the various sensors and hand brake as ever which is an issue on it. The dumb bit is I still would not change it now I have it. It is lovely lol

It was a great excuse it is my 2nd v8 ever. It is a jag engine and apparently they only sold it with that engine for a couple of years. Most people bought the diesels so it is a pretty rare beast. For once I can say thanks to Sadie kahn in getting me a great engine 😀

I run a and break these for parts. Just keep un mind regular gearbox services. They do eat torque converters and a dead gearbox every 1000 miles is expected. Engine just injectors and leak.off pipes really.
Top whack 24 mpg or chipped 28 mpg. Good choice and the TDV8 with the 6 or 8 speed box is more reliable again.
They rot in the rear arches. Look where they join the sill at the rear they have a stupid factory hole into the sill rear arch area that fills with crud. Jet it out dry it out and fill with wax. If it is rusty even slightly on top it will be a hole.
The clunk will be front arms which they eat about every 10k.
Offroad guys won't give you a Carrot for it if the lights are on as they would need to shod it with 4x4 rubber and with ABS lights on and inactive suspension it won't do offroad. Plus way heavier to tow than a disco with no MOT.
Interiors break for around 600 in total. Engines about 450 as popular.l conversion for defender.
    Lights.and grills etc 20 or 30.quid each.
Best diagnostics is a Nanocom and this will also fo freelander if you add the option from blackboard solutions.

Wheeler Dealer's did up a L322 Range Rover, that had an air suspension fault, which I seem to remember as being quite an easy and cheapish fix,, I'm not saying this car has the same fault, but it's worth a look, looks a decent car when it's deblinged, you didn't open the rear doors to see how the rust traps are doing
