Imagine this scenario: You are about halfway through your grocery shopping list and your 3 year old throws a huge fit because you said no to a cookie. What do you do?
Actually the doing nothing came from psychologists books telling parents to ignore their crying infant / todlers to teach them to " self soothe". So manny parents still leave their crying babies in cribs . It teaches them as infants what level of scream gets them fed , changed or even just held. So they automatically go to that high pitch later cause it gets their needs met quicker. Holding , feeding and changing diapers on a baby is not spoiling it. It is caring for a child . Parents nowadays hold , charge and protect their cell phone more often then their children.
