    Hi can someone help me? I own this tamron 27-70 G2 with a Canon R6 Mark ii. I use the Ef-R-Controll-Ring-Adapter. I noticed, when I turn my aperture from e.g. F10 back to F2.8 (AV- and TV-Mode) the Aperture goes only very slowly down - step by step to F2.8. What can i do??

    I'm sorry for my English, but here is one feature I discovered with this lens. When you use it with Nikon DSLR camera, you can change aperture number even if you are in the Liveview video mode, not only before you switch LV on. Nikkor lenses don't support it. Even Camera manual says it's impossible.

    Hi! Would you recommend the tamron 24-70 f2.8 g2 or the canon ef 24-70 f4? Which one is sharper? Which one is better overall?

    • @PaulHeimlund
      @PaulHeimlund  Před měsícem

      Hey! I like a faster lens (f2.8) as I can get a blurrier background and it's MUCH better in low light. The Canon might be a bit sharper, but overall the Tamron is imho better overall. Hope this helps ;)

    • @PaulHeimlund
      @PaulHeimlund  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey! The quality of the Tamron and Sigma is pretty similar. However, Sigma's lens is only weather sealed at the mount, while Tamron is weather sealed all over.I like to shoot in rain and snow as the pictures become more spectacular. That's why I would recommend the Tamron.I'll see what I can do with the comparison with the IS on and off. Maybe a future video😃(On minute 3:00 you can see an example of a handheld shot with a Canon 50mm, no stabilizer)

    i rented the g1, its stabilization isn't enough for walking or simple sliding hand hold shots. would appreciate if u can do more in-depth video comparison test on g2's stabilization..

    • @PaulHeimlund
      @PaulHeimlund  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Ben! Although the stabilization on the G2 is better than the G1 it's still pretty hard to get stable shots while walking. You might get usable shots if you film in eg 120fps, but only very short ones, as the lens is constantly trying to stabilize the scene. If you use Warp Stabilizer in Premiere Pro you can definitely save many of your shots. Btw it stabilizes very well still images, but struggles more with video.
      I will try to do a review regarding the G2's stabilization. However, I would look into getting a cheap gimbal, like a used Glidecam, to always assure your shots are as smooth as possible.
      Hope this helps! Have a nice one ;)

      @PaulHeimlund  Před 5 lety +1

      Dan McDougall Hey Dan! I would go for the Tamron, because it's an f2.8. You will get a more cinematic look to your videos as the background is blurrier, and it is also way better in low light situations. With an f4 you would have to crank up the iso and then be careful with noise in your image. 😀

      It all depends on what you shoot. A 24-70mm is a great place to start. F2.8 will make your image more cinematic with blurry backgrounds. An f4 is ok, but not good in low light and image not that cinematic. Hope this helps ;)

  • @ronshaver2226
    @ronshaver2226 Před 2 lety +1

    Hi Paul. I bought the Tamron 24-70 g2 two weeks ago. Disappointed in the focus sharpness at 24mm. I've been shooting flowers, leaves, rocks in streams at parks, downtown environments, cruise boats, all with textures. Subject matter within 2-3 feet is sharp but is soft beyond that. Shooting at f16 to avoid diffraction but have best dof, iso from 200-1250, shutter speed 160 and higher, shooting style landscape. At the suggestion of a pro I spent hours shooting with mirror lock up vs normally by eyepiece to see if it's a lens issue. The pics are the same (I didn't bring a tripod though). There's a CZcams video that says mirror lock up is a scam--there shouldn't be any difference. Do I send it in for calibration after owning it 2 weeks, or does this lens have severe limitations at 24mm fl, or is there something I can still do myself to correct this?

So, I bought the Tamron 24-70 and a bit later the Rokinon 14mm as I needed a wide lens for a project. With the two lenses I feel that I’m covered for most projects. It should work fine, although I have read some Nikon users have to calibrate it. I have never calibrated my lens and it works fine, even after over 2 years using it. There are also ways to calibrate your lens manually yourself. Karl Taylor has a video on CZcams on how to do that :)

      How is the lens performance of Tamaron f 2.8 G2 lens with Nikon Z6 2? As I am a travel and nature filmmaker will it be useful for me to use it as a one to go lens? Or else do I need to purchase any other lens to meet my genre?

    • @PaulHeimlund

      @@NIBUSVISUALCREATIONS It’s pretty good for that stuff. You can get fairly up close to things at 24mm and get some nice landscape pictures at both 24 and 70mm. And Nikon states this lens is 100% compatible with your camera when using their FTZ adapter :)

    I think Tamron lens was starting great with new design , new system and tech, especially g2 version, i have this lens, 24-70 g2 so great for my canon, better stabilizer, better images quality, sharper edge to edge than sigma 24-70 art. Sigma Art is great lens, but for this one, Tamron totally best!

    • @PaulHeimlund
      @PaulHeimlund  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Daniel! Great question. I guess it comes down to the camera. I use the Canon 1D X mark ii, where I can adjust the focusing speed and the Tamron always does what I want. I’m sure you can adjust the speed in most cameras.
