      @mindfreak078589 Před 5 lety +128

      Such a shame to, I figured it would be a BF1 copy n paste but they found a way to ruin it. Not releasing things chronologically, shying away from the historical battles, and doing an overall terrible job of projecting the bloodiest and most costly war in human history. It would've been amazing going through the Ardennes and into France in an operation or campaign. Same for the start of Barbarossa. Epic tank battles for Kursk, or the endless hedge rows of Normandy. All the way to the Rhine and eventually the heart of Berlin. So much could've been done. Battlefield V could've been a golden goose until the next gen had they done it right.
      But no, they were too worried about glorifying Germany and making the game accessible to women. They could've easily just added the Night Witches and female Russian snipers but that's not PC enough. They tried to change history for the sake of Söderlund not being able to tell his child the truth of the war. Women played an integral part of WW2, just not always in battle. If he wanted to glorify women in war for the sake of his daughter then maybe he should've just made a modern warfare game. That could've had all the glorification of a female character he wanted in it. She could've ramboed the entire Russian and Chinese army for all I care.
      Just don't mess with what we already know as fact and try to pass it off as sexism or bigotry because we won't accept his fantasy feel good world. I hope he's genuinely learned from his stupidity.

  • @TheActMan
    @TheActMan Před 7 lety +762

    Dope video as always, bro! You definitely can change the outcome of an operation on your own, but more importantly as a squad. There are many times where I've taken a whole point by myself, or snuck in behind enemy lines then had my 5 man squad spawn in on me to attack the objective. There were times where a single enemy plane was able to rack up 60+ kills because he kept bombing us on the objectives.
    It's not about being able to One-Man-Army the entire team and win the match singlehandedly, but moreso in smaller victories like destroying a tank that's pestering your team, using a horse to flank the enemy snipers to give your frontline infantry some breathing room. Or reviving your teammates, these smaller victories can lead to greater success overall, and that's what makes the multiplayer feel so rewarding, as there are opportunites for every class and vehicle to make an impact on the outcome of the match.
    As far as campaign goes, they definitely should've made the War Stories longer, would've given players more time to empathize and more time to flesh out the unique perspectives of WWI. For me, I was able to have fun with the campaign just because of the setting & time period, it's not an innovative or even original type of gameplay, but the setting of WWI is what makes it interesting to me personally.
    Good shit, dude. Keep it up!

    Human beings need to be challenged. It's fine to turn your brain off every so often but in a game about war, I need my enemies to be as good or better. Whether it's strategically or simply in weaponry. I need my victory to be earned, not given.

I saw your comment on Jr.Rizzos video, so I do know you played black ops 1 at least, but with the sheer detail, amount of things to do and story, it's worth getting into as an outsider

    Great video but I disagree with only one thing. Your constant agenda of "Battlefield was close to dying"... Bruh I don't think you understand what "dying" actually means. Sure, Battlefield 4 sold less than Battlefield 3 but it still sold over 15 million copies over all platforms and still sold 5 million Premium Passes. Not to mention Battlefield 4 was the most played FPS on the market behind CSGO, Overwatch and BO3. And that was 2 years after it's launch. I mean if you call that dying I really don't know what to say to you. Just like COD and CS, this is one of those franchises that it's just very very very hard to die.
    It's the same as the people thinking that COD was dead with Infinite Warfare. As much as I dislike COD for the countless of terrible things it did... it was the most idiotic thing ever to push the agenda that COD was dying.
    Selling less copies but still MILLIONS is not dying. By any means. Let alone when you sell 15 million copies lol. Other than that glad you enjoy the game and that you finally gave it a shot.

      In my research I never came across a post that confirmed 15 million copies sold for BF4. The number I kept running into was 7 million, less than half of BF3's 15 million. With Hardline's multiplayer dying within months of being released (at least on PC), the series was quickly on its course to going under. A game can sell MILLIONS and still be considered a failure if the franchise is not living up to the publishers expectations, which 4 & Hardline according to the data I saw, was not. But I'm all for being corrected if this information is wrong.

I new that we were going to lose if that obj was not cleared quick. We had a min left and I immediately was able to spawn into st chamond tank. I rushed it into obj and immediately called a airstrike. As 30 secounds counted down I saw almost all the enemy’s die around me in a hail of my artillery strike. I died, but as I zoomed out I saw tons of my teammates that were at a stand still rush into the obj and take it over while the clock was at 10 sec. one of my favorite memories playing ANY multiplayer games. Battlefield hardline could have really stuck out of the crowd if perhaps they took the Cops and Robbers concept and ran with it completely instead of half assing it. They removed tanks and attack helicopters, but kept the high-tech IRNV FLIR MLG KFC sights and ubiquity of hand grenades which doesn’t make sense.
    They perhaps could have removed long guns such as assault rifles or shotguns and instead made your primary gun a hand-gun, likely making up for it findable weapons like BF4 but more common and grabbable by multiple people.
    Also, adding the arrest system to multiplayer would be pretty neat. One of your gadgets could be handcuffs that could “finish off” revivable enemies and be a quicker melee animation and both would provide extra points or maybe unlock certain things.
    Obviously I’m not providing many suggestions to fix it, but that’s the job of the multi billion dollar game companies who sell numerous micro-transactions and then smuggle an incredible amount of money in to offshore tax havens.

    I disagree with your point about bf4's unlock system. After putting 200+ hours into bf4 I still had weapons to unlock, and it gave me a reason to keep coming back to the game, whereas in bf1 I have put 40 hours into the game and have already unlocked all but 3 guns in the game. Every weapon in bf1 feels samey, and not rewarding. The weapon diversity in bf4 was one of its strong points in my opinion, because at the end of the games life, dice managed to balance most of them, and most people use different weapons, instead of the hellriegel being the best sniper, shotgun, assault weapon, LMG, and everything else.

    I am a little surprised you didn't go more into Battlefield 1's multiplayer. I like that they tried to make the multiplayer less about unlocks, but I don't think they made up for it with enough depth. It lacks a feeling of progression, which is very important to keep people coming back to a multiplayer game. Progression isn't just about unlocks or xp, it's also about skill and a sense of reward. In that regard, I feel that at least right now, Battlefield 1 is kind of shallow.

    • @Miko-dy6ur
      @Miko-dy6ur Před 7 lety +1

      FPS titles shouldn't be about unlocks. It's about gun play, and BF1 does a pretty good job with it. Guns will more or less be effective at a certain range so you have to set up your engagement distances wisely. I feel like FPS players expect sick customization and an insane progression system but that really isn't what it's all about.

    • @_ace_defective_
      @_ace_defective_ Před 7 lety +2

      Miko I agree with many of those things, but a sense of progression is important. It's not really even a leveling system either, it's becoming more skilled and gaining more experience. It's getting rewarded for your effort (as said previously, gaining more skill is an example). BF1 just sort of lacks this in some regards.

The game wants you to get back in but you don't have to. You can get in any time. It's really fun to take part in a massive assault alongside other soldiers. Go to say that this is the first time I have disagreed with one of your videos.
    I think BF1 is awful for multiplayer, I will go ahead and say that I am a hardcore BF player and loved what BF4 became, in almost every way that matters BF1 feels less refined, less balanced and less fun to play. Yes technical presentation wise it is effectively without peers IMO but multiplayer isn't fun. And this is someone who agrees with most of your gripes about BF4.
    I have something like 20 hours total playing BF1 which for a game in my favourite series that I was hyped about is essentially an abject failure. I've put more time into BF4 since BF1 launched by a factor of 2. The same can be said for Overwatch and CSGO of the games I already owned. Hell I've even put nearly triple the time into Titanfall 2 which was a game I only purchased due to its reception post launch and BF1 just not doing it at all for me.
    Still a good analysis and good video, just not one I agree with which was always going to happen at some point. And hell maybe I'll go back and look at the game with fresh eyes as if you see something in it then maybe its worthy of my renewed attention.

    Battlefield 1 could have been so good but the cons for me were:
    -Lack of maps on release (9 isn't good enough especially when considering lack of weapons)
    -Inclusion of experimental and unused weapons for that era. (MP-18 rarely used irl but almost everyone has one in game)
    -Lack of trench warfare on a WW1 game...
    -Lack or no character customisation despite it being in other Dice titles such as Battlefront.
    -Just feels like a WW2 game with inclusion of automatic and semi automatic weapons, quick tanks and type of maps.
    -Lack of accuracy on soldier skins.
    -Too much political correctness in inclusion of black characters despite being rare to non existent on the western front.
    -Stupid variants of weapons just to make up for lack of weapons in the first place. Get rid of scopes (rare in WW1) and replace with iron sights.
    -Inclusion of factions without their own standard issue rifle (Italian and US rifles)
    -Campaign really poor depiction of WW1

      Vermivorous the Invincible What are you on about? Very few scopes were used in WW1. Rifles were used with iron sights. Sick of people on here with no idea what happened in WW1

      "-Lack of trench warfare on a WW1 game... " They even had a chance to make it an entire game-mode.
      There's also the parachute issue the game has. Flying a plane at all should be a death sentence if you get shot-down.

      The 5000 number isn't confirmed they could've but up to the tens of thousands however the gun was almost exclusively used by stormtroopers and wasn't used by the average German soldier.

    I love this game, for a reason you labeled a negative. The 'mean-grinder' aspect bring World War 1 to life, which is excellent from a history standpoint, and some can still find enjoyment in meat-grinder gameplay

    On the section before that with the three towns I found a glitch where you can draw the enemies out of the town, getting to your objective without even killing them. It was both hilarious and depressing.

    Raycevick,
    I can't say I agree with how positive this review was with regards to the multiplayer. With regards to the weapons, I understand that the previous titles can feel bloated with unlocks but the truth is that they expand the sandbox for one thing, and they give players something to chase after which tries to keep this extremely repetitive game from getting stale, I don't see how that's negative. As it is in BF1, the smaller weapon pool seems as if there are 'correct' choices as to the best weapons, and the lack of attachments and horrendous UI make it discouraging to try to experiment with different weapons. I have put many hours into the game and I still just use the starting guns for the most part. And your comment about this games movement seemed a bit odd as well. While I agree that battlefield's movement is much more liberating than any generic 'realistic' shooter crap, it is extremely buggy and calling it "perfection" while games like Titanfall, Halo, Doom, or Destiny exist is pretty funny (and yes obviously I understand the genre and gameplay restrictions at play here). And as a side note, the soundrack is pretty bland, never been a strongpoint for battlefield games I know, but it grates me every time I boot up the game.
    In addition, I don't see what the setting of WWI really adds to the game other than simply being a novel idea for the sake of novelty. The same types of weapons, map designs, and gameplay tropes appear despite many not making any sense in the time period, and what isn't carried over from the old games is simply lost, such as the team play found with helicopters, and added verticality to maps. I somewhat agree with the argument that gameplay should take precedent over historical accuracy, but it reaches a point when I find myself questioning what the shift in setting adds at all. Again, novelty for the sake of novelty and marketing I suppose. Some of the other problems I have will all battlefield games, such as the lack f consequence for death and lack of real impact on the outcome of games, feel exacerbated in this installment for some reason. Overall, I can't shake the feeling that this game just bores me, especially once the initial awe of the grande spectacle wears off. Perhaps its me outgrowing the genre of 'realistic' shooters, but I honestly regret spending $60 dollars on this game.

      This. I just reached 140 in BF4 and found a gun I HAVEN'T USED AT ALL, so I'm going to use it, unlock the stuff for it and keep playing. (not that I wouldn't anyways) he says feature creep, and maybe that true, but I say content and variety. Note: I have over 1000 hours in the game.
