  • Gymshark founder Ben Francis has returned to his role as CEO of the $1 billion fitnesswear brand worn by celebrities and influencers alike. Now, Francis has his sights set on making Gymshark the United Kingdom's answer to incumbents like Nike and Adidas. CNBC Make It's Vicky McKeever spoke to the 29-year-old founder about his journey from his parents' garage to the firm's expansion into the United States and Asia.

    As someone who works out very frequently, the cost to longevity ratio just isn't high enough for their shorts and pants. It's clear the clothes are made with trendiness rather than durability in mind. It's fast fashion at it's most ubiquitous.

    Huge fan of Ben... but I dont see gymshark being as big as the nike, puma adidas etc. The name alone means its limited to gym products while the other brands pull from many different sports and areas.

      That doesn’t matter. Companies always have different names and change their names over time. Google became alphabet. Albertsons became luckys and Snapchat is a subset of Snap. Name doesn’t matter so much that you should feel stuck and be limited to what you’re doing.

    I find it odd that there’s still a perception of companies like JLR, RR, Bentley, MINI etc. as being British when none are British-owned and they were all failing badly when they were British-owned.     Just do something that will earn you money while you sleep, no matter how little. A pandemic is the perfect way to open your eyes to really see what life could be like without your usual income stream and everyone had to stay home.
