- Finally we got the Turbo D16Y8 Civic onto the Dyno!
What a great experience expanding my knowledge on tuning on Honda Tuning Suite.
Unfortunately we could only run the car at 4PSI due to the head lift but nonetheless it was a fun time for the rice rocket!
The car is a 2000 Honda Civic EX Manual that we bought in 2022. The cars soul purpose is to be our test dummy for learning how to tune. The motor in the car right now is a stock D16Y8. Previous owner blew the head and put a refreshed one on (not sure how well the job was done). The turbo we are using is a MaxPeedingRods T3/T4 T04E .57AR Turbo.
Treadstone intercooler piping kit as well as their log manifold.
The car is also fitted with RDX 410CC Injectors.
We are experiencing head lift under boost which caused us to lower the boost from 7PSI down to 4PSI for the Dyno Session. We were able to make a whole 155whp on 4PSI which is just enough to pass a grandma on the highway.
We are in the process of building another D16Y8 on the side with a Vitara setup to shoot for 300+ whp in the near future.

Thank you!🙌🏽
Not bad for 4psi🤔🔥
Can’t wait for the high boost setup!
Thanks!!!
Soon!!😏
Mannn cj on dis shit🔥🔥🔥
Yessir!!
Check out the car when it was on on 7psi -> czcams.com/video/ZQFa1FjUJ20/video.html
How much miles or km’s does the EJ8 have? I was thinking of putting a turbo in mine but idk how 310,000km would hold up. Besides the high km’s, the car is clean and has no issues
The motor we have right now is right around 150k?
Only thing that’s new as far as I know of is the cylinder head
I say start at low boost 4-5 psi and see how the car feels
A good tune should make it fun
You can shoot for 7 but once you go 7-10 psi just be mindful it is an old motor and some hold more and some hold less
Of course depends on the size turbo you run
7 psi on a t25 is way less than 7 psi on a T3/T4

now this is some content I wanna see !
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
So you saying the 19.75* timing was at 4psi WOT(6.5k+) just confirming I’m street tuning my y8 and just love to see other y8 s and what they like
Yeah just about. It did not pick up any power advancing it more.
Any other questions you have feel free to reach out!
I mean in all honesty those old d series motors you almost have to turbo them just to keep up with modern traffic 🤣. I swear when I first bought my 95 cx I couldn't believe how slow it was lol. It was so embarrassing not even being able to get in front of a semi on a free way entrance ramp 🤣.
YOURE TELLING ME!
Even after I tuned mine and advanced timing it was better but good lord it was still parked
Turbo was much needed 100%🤣🤣
@@CJBuilt REAL TALK 🤣🤣
@@CJBuilt oh woops my bad I meant this comment for a different video sorry about that 😅
Lmaooo bro no worries I’ll answer there also 🤣
@@CJBuilt hahahahaha thanks man my bad 😂😂. I forgot I clicked on the link in the other video when I commented lol. Good shit tho keep it up brother! 💪
I did some research after watching the first time but i read that 250HP with stock block is a highly danger zone and at 200HP is like safe. 150HP is the safest setup. Are you moving up around 200HP or 180HP or keeping it at 150HP. Im thinking of turboing my d16y8 and having it to 5psi on stock block
Yeah anywhere around 200 you should be okay
We have pushed this motor to 7 psi for a bit but we did start to experience head lift. Could be from back torque.
Tbh right now we’re building another motor on the side so I’m trying to make this one last in the mean time
But when that one is done we may head to the dyno and run it at 7-10 psi and see how it does
@@CJBuilt my goal will be either 150HP or 190HP, i know 150 can run stock injectors but can 190 run stock injectors(240cc) and stock pump ?
Im gonna do the tuning myself before boosted application and after with hondata.
For boosted im thinking in running around 12.0-12.5 A/Fr
Can i get your opinion idea and help :)
I think she might need some fresh motor mounts or tranny mounts. She dancing on decel . Great video
I thought the motor was going to fly out 🤣
The mounts are completely shot😬😬
Thank you 🙌🏽
hope you putting engine mounts
YOU SAW THAT?? 🤣🤣
Solid mounts inbound ASAP
A big difference what Vtec can do 😳
Yuppp!
needs some motor mounts my boy
Bro you wouldn’t believe how bad they were!!
They’re fresh now😎
That’s an automatic?
Nope 5 speed manual!
Clean car but it’s a snail 😭😭 lmfao
Stock single cam on 4psi ofc it’s parked 😂😂
