- Making keys for a Vendstar 3000 with the Lishi clipper for the top wafer locks and using the HPC Tubular pick and Herty Gerty for the change compartment
Enjoy
Very cool with the eyeball spacing with the Lishi cutter.
I've never excelled at reading wafers so I really enjoyed your video!
Hi Jason, thank you for sharing this with us and taking the time to do this video. Very educational
Lots of experience ! Be proud of your skills ! I always enjoy your videos ! Thank you for sharing !
I had a customer bring me a vending machine to make keys for a while back. It had a FR2 key and a Tubular key just like this one. It brought back memories
That was interesting. I like seeing exactly what you do with such a job.
Fantastic video, enjoyed it! Thank you

what i like about this video is the knowledge i picked up on all the mistakes i willcome across cutting with a Liski hand cutting tool, thanks for the great video,i like to see the work i will ned to do on this topic, thanks,Mal in BC
Try turn first, then push. Go slow and deliberate. Russell Lock Service
Great job!
Cool video Jason! Before ever beginning with tubular locks, I always give it a shot of lube. Tubular locks are oriented such that they always catch a bunch of dust or just get dry. A shot of lube and working in with a blank works a treat!
Nicely done 😎
The ubiquitous Y 11.
I could have seen it wrong, but one of those sevens looked like a six on the tubular, but it worked. Thanks Jason
Kevin Koepke I was going with their all odd commonality
good stuff!
damn tubular locks, they make me too tired, they are a little pest in the life of the locksmith😂
i picked one of these for my sister and it pissed me off i got the top locks with no problem but the back one was a pain in the butt , long story short i had it picked in like ten min. but did not know it, because it would not open, i kept thinking the lock must have to turn more, i worked on it for like three nights, turned out it was glued shut by old melted candy gooo not pretty! she also got a old vintage one with the glass jars that was open but the locks where damaged by the other owner shoving a screw driver in it. so i removed the wafers so she could still use the lid, it still looks like it is locked and they still screw down to hold firm, at lest till she can find replacement locks .
You definately have a different approach than me. I always read and file with the wafers in their relaxed position. Different approach but the result is always what matters. I still prefer the rats tail for expedient results. Money for jam:-)
When I get the tubular lock turned I measure the pick once then I put it back in the lock and hold it between pin chambers, 1/16 turn, then reset the pick down onto the pins to get a better reading on the pick. I don't get using that clipper tool when you have a code machine right there.
Bill in Phoenix that’s a good idea Bill. Also using the clipper strictly for the extra clicks here on CZcams ;)
Nice anvil
I can never get the sparrows wrench like that to work either... the sparrows mantis is even worse. But the goat wrench thing that lock noob created and is sold by sparrows now works a bit better. I have way more luck with the impression tool though.
Cool video! I can't sight read worth a darn.
it says patent pending on the case, i wonder if they ever got their patent? and if they did why didn't they update the letters on the box?
Man that's some strange lingo going on down there in the descriptions. LOL!!!!!!! With the thing-a-ma-jig & the what-ya-ma-call it tied into the wig-wag.
So then you do the herdy gerdy & then you turn yourself about. Yeah if I didn't know all those terms I'd be so lost.
@@AThreeDogNight that’s what it’s all about 😁
If I was selling some candy from a little machine, let me ask 'yall. What type of candy would you sell. I have paid for MM's, Skittles, but that's in my area. I remember when I was a kid at the arcade, I bought a giant bubble gum ball for 25 cents. Then this little 5 year old girl, (race not important), stole my bubble gum. Of course it costed me 25 cents but I was like, "OK!". So I put another quarter in the machine but kept an eye on her. What can I say, kids steal. Not me as a kid, but you gotta watch out for the other kids.
Ken _ well, after working on these often and seeing age of candy I’m hesitant to buy out of many unless the machine looks new and in a heavily used area. Skittles, M&M’s and the little square gums are probably what I would put in one of these if I had one
How much does something like this cost the customer I have done some things for friends and since I'm retired looking for extra income
Russell Freeman this one was $45 total but of course it was dropped off
SE Lock and Key would all of those machines have the same lock? I just picked up 2 and they didn’t have any keys
Damm autocorrect it's de capping pliers
gary johnson “all purpose pliers” = any pliers within reach
gary johnson also (since you seem special by bouncing into the channel to comment about how a pair of pliers are used) I will notate they are technically just called Cap Pliers or Dust Cap Pliers to be exact, not “de capping” but thank you for special comments. I’m honored to be blessed by a god of tool use.
Getting me some CANDY
I'm_Gumby how did you know I was just sending you a box full of candy out of here
@@selock LOL - With or without the Houdini coating - I seen you spraying that lock
@@ImGumbyDangit Citrus-flavored candy?
I need a set of those if all Vendstar 3000 locks are the same. Wanna make me some? Pm me please
Wouldn't it have been quicker and thus cheaper to pick the locks, remove them, replace them with new locks with matching keys, and called it a day? The locks and keys are like $25 online and for $35 you can get a new barrel lock and key with included.
Interco Tire if you aren’t a locksmith, sure
@@selock I'm not a locksmith. I have a Venstar 3000 and no keys... I don't have the tools or knowledge you have. It's not worth me spending $50 with a locksmith to have them make new keys and reset the tumblers, although saving the original locks is appealing. I'm just trying to out to knock out the old locks and put new ones in. I am impressed with your skills though. I'm just tryign to take a toss our machine and make something for my little man cave on a low low budget.
Don't you clean keys with a wire brush after keys cut? Any key cut leaves bur end.
Ray Horner yes but a nylon brush not a wire brush
Why in the hell would you use your Recapping pliers as a wrench .only a por locksmith would do that if he wasn't trained better
gary johnson lol
If your going to be insulting at least spell check yourself.
