I'm a 73 year old Mac Virgin from Australia. Loved your tutorial - just loved it. I learnt word by "osmosis" and wanted to really understand letters - to be more vibrant and creative with what I could do. This is perfect. Now I have to do ALL your tutorials.
Dude...this was GREAT. Im a windows user since I got my first computer many moons ago, but I just recently switch to a Mac and was lost so youtube has been my best friend lately. I am so glad I stumbled on your page!
I am switching from Word to Pages and was looking for a good introduction to it. So glad that I found your video. Your instructions are clear, thorough and very understandable. So good in fact, I'm going to watch it again and make sure I didn't miss anything. This has been a huge help. Thanks!
I had a private lesson with David a few days ago - IT WAS AMAZING - saved me hours of research and long calls with Mac - this video is like all the rest - AMAZING
I am a newcomer to Pages. I listened well enough to know that very little applied to me and what I need to learn. Many options on the drop-down menus were grayed out. I had questions about almost every sentence spoken by Mr. Cox. He assumed, I suspect, that we watching were beyond the elementary level. In my case that is not so. Also, it could be he was using a newer model Mac. My model MacBookPro didn’t appear to have all of the same menus. I got very little from this so-called tutorial.
Thank you, as a Publisher user of 26 years I am now entering new grounds, I will investigate your site in depth once the kitchen is clean. You are easy to understand and show it simply.
Years ago, when I had a PC with Windows, I used Office Word. Got rid of that computer with it's Blue Screen of Death and move onto an Apple. Love my MacMini and, thanks to you, have realized that Pages is even better than Word. [word up]. Thanks for the great tutorial and reminder of some of command key functions for the alternate/enhanced menu.
“If this applies to you, you should quit your job immediately and start making You Tube videos” 😂😂😂😂😂 I’d feel the same way if I had to work on a Microsoft all day!!!! Hilarious DAVE. Love your channel. You are great for all Apple fans. I’ve converted to all Apple products- Mac Book Pro, iPhone since it came out, iPad Pro. Costs a little more on the front end but worth every penny and easy to maintain. With MS you wear out the reboot button!
Very helpful. As someone who has used Office products almost exclusively for decades (good lord, has it been that long?) I needed the tips. Thanks much.
I just got the go-ahead to design the quarterly newsletter for the Historical Society and I found your TechTalk America for Pages for Mac. I am so glad to have watched this video so I can start my first newsletter due April 1. Thank you
I am looking for a new laptop and Mac is highly recommended, so I wanted to learn more about pages since I am used to using windows. Glad I found your page, very helpful and makes it easy to understand. Thanks, I will subscribe if I decide to get Mac.
10 thumbs up! the shape library is really extensive. bravo apple. I was looking at your video to figure out how to place photos, but what I really wanted was a nice library of icons. even better than what I was looking at online. I thought I knew most of this. nope. your vid just uped my game nicely.
Brief, but substantive. I've avoided Pages nearly altogether because it's a whole 'nother world from Word, the lynchpin used by most. However, for at least simple documents and some templates, it might be the best alternative. Thank you.
Great stuff. I'm a Project Manager and programmer so I need to document and track tasks, issues, things. I have been using FreeForm but I interface a 1 page Pages doc daily with my details. Thank you for a nice detailed but not too granular video. You are an amazing trainer.
For those old guys like me, it would help us follow better if you changed the cursor color in your videos from black with a white outline to something like red which would be much easier to see and follow. (That’s an old printers trick) Great video, I just subscribed.
David, This tutorial was very informative on how to use Pages. Thank you so much for making it. Even though have owned an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and now a MacBook Air. I’m very new to the MacBook Air in how to use it. Thank you, Cathy
All of these tips helped out a lot! I am starting my own company AND switching from MS to Mac. I need all the help I can get. Thank you so much for posting! ~Houston, TX
Found two life changing hacks already! thank you - printed off shortcuts & despite having a mac for 5 years i now know the option & command key after 20 years using microsoft!
Great tutorial, I've been looking for that "save as" command forever and have lost original documents and had to reconstruct them as I tried to rename and save. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm late, but just now looking at writing a book in pages. This video is really helpful. Also...not sure if you've done the text replacement video. I use it all the time. For example, I use em1 for my email or em2 for my work email. I use addy for my home address (number and street). I use cph for my cell phone number. I use fn and ln for my first name and last name. I have probably about 50 or 60 text replacements. LOL. Some others that come to mind: Social media links and frequent responses and messages.
super useful; after years of paying yearly subscription rates for Microsoft office, I've decided I might as well just learn to use the office apps that apple has already freely made available to me
Pages is underrated but a very powerful tool... So is keynote, I switched away from Windows to Mac recently and been exploring, it is amazing how apple made it simple and easy for average consumer. Default mail app, really sucks though :(
Class was useful: saw a few tricks I did not know and have used and like Pages for years. Like to suggest another class: currently, all photos scanned in carry the date of the scan. I wish there was a way to gang-select a group of photos and change the photo sort date (at least the year) so that the ordering of the pics makes sense. This is especially true with the impending Catalina photo added sort-functions.
I always confuse Pages as a Word-Processing and as a Page Layout. It seems everybody knows right away but the fact even the template build base on these two different set up. Thank you for video. It helps improve my pages skill. Salam from Prambanan.
Hi David, since my husband is a Mac user and circumstance kept me bonded to my gaming PC, your training is helpful since I frequently do stuff on his Mac. Thanks so much for clarifying Pages! The scope is exciting, and your humor and presentation style is refreshing. Suggestions: how Mac and PC can work well together. Thanks a bunch Donna Blevins The Big Girl of Poker at 6'5"
Great video that got me up to speed on Pages in a flash. I'm a veteran of Windows and MS Word and am slowly getting used to my MacOs. I will go search for more of your videos to help in this transition.
GREAT Lesson - I'm a new MAC user and still struggling to learn all these new features. I'll be sure to check out your home page and may even need to book a few private lessons with you. Thank you.
Thank you for this great video. I am a newbies at lots of things. I am thankful to God and His son Jesus for you David. To have You tube and to have people like you taking your times teaching people like me the ABC on technology. David was always one of my Bible Heroes. I guess I am blessed to have a David teaching me. Thank you. I gave your video a thumb up. I think it was well done of course you skip a few steps. I wished you say you would work on them in another video. I do not like to skip steps. Thanks again for being a blessing God bless you.
Man, you techies are invaluable. I'm so so so glad this stuff is available because you've done all this work. Thank you! Great job. I appreciate your speed of speech and the enunciating, very important. I have a major gripe with many CZcamsrs and that is they always sound the same, say the same things, talk really loud.... It just gets to be too much audio stimulation when I'm just trying to learn!! So I appreciate yours
I have the same question as others here. I watched the video (very good, thanks!) to learn how to shape the text around a picture. I still can't figure out how to do that.
hello, I am new to Mac and this was very helpful. thanks. I am in need of learning how to straighten all group sections of my acting resume. please let me know what your rate for this would be.
Great video for a new user like myself it was pretty fast moving. This is my first time on a Mac after years on windows and everything is so different but thanks very well done. Blessings
Great tutorial, I've been looking for that "save as" command forever and have lost original documents and had to reconstruct them as I tried to rename and save. Thank you, thank you, thank you! you are a great teacher
I use pages every week. Sometimes every day. Thanks for showing me things I didn't already know. I really like the email trick where you can send a DOC or PDF and not have a duplicate file on the Mac. Cool!
I would like detailed instruction on how to use the templates. The text seems to move around and act weird because I cannot figure out how to modify the templates. I am working on a book, but have real trouble with formatting and being consistent. Thank you for this introduction. There were some new features I need to adopt. Super cool.
I've never used Pages (it was not included in my Macbook Air 2011 and I cannot downloaded because I'm stuck with macOS 10.13) and i was curious to see how it works and if there are improvements compared to Microsoft Words and Google Docs. Thanks for this lesson, I'm going to watch others from your channel
Thanks, David. Very useful - especially the tip on sharing documents by email to save cluttering my iMac with different versions of the same document under "Save as".
What a great help. The Video was so clear on things I didn't know how to use for years. One question I still have.. once I select a letter of flyer and decide I don't want it, how do I get back to the other templates without closing the window and having to Open Pages again?
Excellent, David. I have enjoyed the evolution of your channel, learned much and opened doors because of that which you have introduced to me. And, at this time of year, recall my two week vacation at Bull Ring Wharf. Keep up the good work for us. ~Your Loyal Lurker.
Great video, David. I just updated to macOS Catalina, so my old Office 2011 apps no longer work (I knew that beforehand). I have been using and learning Pages in preparation. It will be interesting to see if I can survive w/o Word. As an author, I critique and judge contest manuscripts, therefore one area of use is Word's Track Changes and Comments. Maybe I'll find some info on one of your other videos about making the move from Word to Pages.
David, I love your tutorials. Thanks so much! The hidden "Save As" was a real joy to find. I used Word my whole work career and now I am left to my own devices on my wonderful -- but sometimes perplexing Pages.

You make life on a mac for new people just trying to get a hand on things sooooo easy. Thank you for everything.
hahaha!!! Am I the ONLY person to notice or comment on the folder names at the beginning? like EVER? hahah pure gold
Learned a lot and was very helpful. I have recently switched from Windows to Mac. Thank you so much.
Hi, I’m considering switching from MS Word to Pages and this is a very gentle and clear introduction. Thank you.
David,
merci beaucoup!
I'm a french teacher and I am convinced PAGES will allow me to create some fun documents.

”Not porn” folder first thing I saw. I am ashamed of my eagle eyes at times😂 great videos tho. Keep it up!
I just switched to MacOS and your channel has been a blessing. Thanks a lot for your content.
I just got the go-ahead to design the quarterly newsletter for the Historical Society and I found your TechTalk America for Pages for Mac. I am so glad to have watched this video so I can start my first newsletter due April 1. Thank you
helped alot. apple products are very user friendly and they are so better than actual MS Office. Happy to have switched from MS and windows.
I am looking for a new laptop and Mac is highly recommended, so I wanted to learn more about pages since I am used to using windows. Glad I found your page, very helpful and makes it easy to understand. Thanks, I will subscribe if I decide to get Mac.
I use text replacement loads. I have so many things set up in there, and it syncs using iCloud and your AppleID to all your Apple devices which is awesome.
I've added a lot of apostrophe words which autocorrect doesn't necessarily otherwise pick up:
helll = he'll
idd = I'd
illl = I'll
itlll = it'll
shedd = she'd
shelll = she’ll
welll = we'll
weree = we’re
youlll = you’ll
I also find it great for correcting proper nouns, such as:
1p = 1Password
fb = Facebook
fmf = Find My Friends
jQuery = jQuery
js = JavaScript
mba = MacBook Air
mbp = MacBook Pro
mmini = Mac Mini
php = PHP
sp = SharePoint
tbolt = Thunderbolt
wp = WordPress
yt = CZcams
and for fiddly syntax you won't quickly find with your keyboard if you don't use it regularly:
oC = ºC
oF = ºF
(c) = ©
(r) = ®
tm = ™
finally I also use it to complete email address domains quickly, for example:
@g = @gmail.com
@l = @live.com
HTH! 😃
Great teacher! I am not afraid of Pages anymore :)
Pages is excellent for gardeners. I keep a monthly calendar in Pages of my plants.

Thanks a lot , ur Video helped me and I will continue learning from ur channel
One of the best presenters all about Mac on the Internet. I’ve been watching your videos for years and learn so much.
Thank you. It helped. I enjoyed the humor in your folder names.
Brief, but substantive. I've avoided Pages nearly altogether because it's a whole 'nother world from Word, the lynchpin used by most. However, for at least simple documents and some templates, it might be the best alternative. Thank you.
David, you consistently make outstanding videos that make complicated matters easy to understand. This one is a perfect example. Thank you!
Hope you are doing well. Watched this pages video. Really enjoyed and very helpful. Thanks.

I was freaking out as I have agreed to write our clubs newsletter which to date has been done on Windows. Now I see I can do it on Pages!

Excellent tips for an ex-Windows user. i.e. Save As...
Thank you, I don't want to upgrade to Word 360 so this is great for learning how use my Macbook Pro.
Very well done David...clear, concise and to the point and no bloviating or pontificating. Bravo and thanks. Thumbs up.
Thanks for a very clear video. It got me going on Pages in 16.04 mins.
Okay--the best one yet-hands down! Thank goodness!
Found two life changing hacks already! thank you - printed off shortcuts & despite having a mac for 5 years i now know the option & command key after 20 years using microsoft!
I use a shortcut for my email address. Needed often, this is a great time saver.

I was wondering how to do the special characters, thanks.
SAVE AS!!!!!! Thank you very much
Thanks. Helpful. I always have probes with headers and footers. And the placement of pics in the header.
Your videos are always helpful
Great job. I've been a Mac user for years and picked up a few hints from your Pages presentation. I'll be back.

Thank you for the tutorial video; good pace, clear instructions .👍 It's nice that we can convert documents to WORD doc, if needed.

Do you have video about mail merge with Pages I now it’s possible thanks for your great video very helpful
Thanks, David! Great video, now I need to watch about Numbers. Always the patient teacher.
Great Explanation!!. Thanks a lot..
Very clear and easy eas to follow
I’d love to see the same about the iPad version. Especially for iPads 13 when you get around to doing same. Ken
