As an italian it's incredible to watch this video and realize that most of these winning songs are completely forgotten nowadays, while some other songs in the same years that didn't win are extremely more popular than them.
For example, Gli uomini non cambiano from 1992, Gianna and Un'emozione da poco from 1978, le mille bolle blu and 24 mila baci from 1961, Piazza grande from 1972, Almeno tu nell'universo from 1989, Mentre Tutto scorre from 2005, Tutti i miei sbagli from 2000, etc...
Almost of them are waaaay more famous than the winning song on the same year. Literally I've never heard of some of them
the italian radio station where i live plays a good mix of these songs. it has specific segments where it play oldies from the 60s & early 70s usually. mind you i live in canada but I have decent knowledge of italian music from my family.
the oldest winning song I recognize is Nel blu dipinto di blu because it's just so famous. I recognize Zingara and il cuore e' uno zingaro. I can recognize quite a few songs from the late 1970s onward. my parents really like Umberto Tozzi, Marco Masini, Eros, Riccardo Foglio from Pooh. Albano e Romina Power is an iconic duo. Anna Oxa has a very distinct voice.
my favourite song from sanremo 2022 was Ciao ciao by La Rappresentante di Lista which i think became a huge hit in italy. 2023 sanremo there were so many songs I liked Due by Elodie, Furore by Paola e Chiara, Madame - Il bene nel male, colapesce dimartino - splash. im not sure how these songs did in italy though

Fun fact: as you see the first editions of Sanremo all the songs were sung in two different version by two different artists. RAI at the time selected what version to send to Eurovision. Some Eurovision winners participated in Sanremo Festival as contestants in that period: France Gall, Udo Jürgens, Sandie Shaw, Frida Boccara, Francoise Hardy took part in Sanremo, like a lot other International stars of the '60s, from every part of the World.
PS: there is a mistake in the video. The 1977 was "Bella da Morire" by Homo Sapiens.

The sanremo festival was born before eurovision. In fact, it was eurovision that was clearly inspired by sanremo and not vice versa.

@@naewsqrg I am Italian and I know what I am talking about. The winners of eurovision were almost never Italian. And it is also not true that all Sanremo winners then participated in eurovision, in 1990 for example Pooh won who did not participate, so many years later Stadio or Vecchioni.

Fun to watch! Enrico Ruggeri didn't take the same song to Eurovision but he did take the same suit 🙂. I don't follow Sanremo usually but I do recognize a lot of names which are pretty well known outside of Italy as well.

In the period with two winners (1953-1971), how did you choose which one to show? I know that for some contests they had the Italian and foreign singer, so that choice seems easier, but what about the rest?
when it was two italian singers, they asked to the main act if they wanted to participate on ESC, if he/she rejected they choose the secondary act (for example, in 1969 Bobby Solo rejected to return and Iva Zanicchi assumed to be the italian representative)

Yes, Francesca Michielin. Came runner-up in Sanremo with "Nessun Grado di Separazione" behind Stadio. The winner of Sanremo can decide to go to Eurovision or not and they left that honour to Francesca, with the agreement of RAI.

Non credo perchè l'Eurovision ha sempre avuto un vibe diverso da Sanremo, per cui le canzoni che per noi Italiani erano fighe all'epoca non lo erano per l'Europa.

@@murphycooper7557 odio? Sinceramente è l'unica scusante che posso dare ad una posizione così bassa in tale classifica. Ci sta che la canzone non ti piaccia per l'amor di Dio, ma io stesso quando faccio le classifiche, in una canzone, ne riconosco la qualità... e quella di Angelina ne ha a bizzeffe, sia per la musica, sia per la voce, sia per il testo (in collaborazione con la tua/nostra amata Madame) e tutto questo in una classifica normale le farebbe solo che guadagnare punti e posizioni!
Per questo dico che in tale classifica la 43esima posizione non le rende onore, e non me lo spiego vedendo altri "vincitori" passati dell'edizione che se avessero gareggiato negli ultimi Sanremo sarebbero finiti qualitativamente sotto la top10, e perciò veramente, l'unica scusante che trovo è l'ondata di odio a cui questa ragazza di 22 anni è stata sottoposta.

Per dire, Sanremo 2008 è stata l'edizione flop per eccellenza eppure per me è stata tra le più belle di sempre.

Imo both songs are equally amazing, but I think that Italian people are tired of Mahmood cuz he's trying too often to represent Italy on esc. That's not my empty words, just look, Mahmood wasn't even in superfinal this year. I think he just should make a longer break from Sanremo and then come back.
Perhaps this is not the case because the Sanremo festival is not characterized by being a contest to choose the Eurovision representative. What's more, Eurovision has spent a long time almost unknown to the general Italian public. @@woojin2229I have to say, I really think Mahmood's purpose coming at Sanremo 2024 was to re-gain some more popularity after a long break he took (his last album came out in june 2021) and since his new album will come out in 2 days he wanted the most exposed stage he could get, so I think he got what he wanted, seeing the results on the streaming platforms, even without winning Sanremo. What I mean by saying this is that I really don't think Mahmood came at Sanremo with the idea of going to Eurovision.
That said, I love tuta gold and I think it deserved at least the top 5. Good luck to Angelina, anyway❤
@@woojin2229 It's your empty words because you just evidently don't know Sanremo's history. Artists were always used to come back, there are some who participated 5, 8, 10 12 and even 15 times. The chance to get to Eurovision is just irrelevant.
