Ustad Shujaat Khan (born 19 May 1960) is one of the greatest North Indian musicians and sitar players of his generation. He belongs to the Imdadkhani gharana school of music. Shujaat Khan is the son and disciple of master sitarist Ustad Vilayat Khan. His musical pedigree continues back through his grandfather, Ustad Inayat Khan; his great-grandfather, Ustad Imdad Khan; and his great-great-grandfather, Ustad Sahebdad Khan - all leading artist of their generation. At the age of three Shujaat began practicing on a specially made small sitar, and by the time he was six, the child prodigy started giving public performances. Since then he has performed at all the prestigious music festivals in India and has traveled around the world performing in Asia, Africa, North America and Europe. Shujaat Husain Khan has developed his own unique style of playing Indian classical music. His approach to rhythm is largely intuitive, fresh and spontaneous, always astonishing his audiences. He is also known for his exceptional voice, which he uses for singing folk songs and poetry. He has over 50 musical releases on a variety of international labels; and also a very commercially successful video called KHANDAN. Additionally, he has been honored with numerous awards by many different Indian and international organizations.
In the fourth edition of Bengal Classical Music Festival held in 2015 in Dhaka, Ustad Shujaat Khan played Rageshree in Sitar. Alap was followed by a khayal style vilambit gat with taan improvisations. The rendition ended with jor and jhala, much to the delight of the audience.
At the end, he performed the famous ghazal composed by Amir Khusro on sitar and vocals and mesmerized everyone present. Amit Choubey & Sapan Parag Anjaria's able to tabla accompaniment added flair to the performance.
Chhaap Tilak , is a Ghazal written and composed by Amir Khusro, a 14th-century Sufi mystic, in popular Western Indian language Braj Bhasha. Due to the resonance of its melody and mystical lyrics, it is frequently heard in Qawwali concerts across Indian Subcontinent. Chaapp Tilak Sab Chheeni is considered as Amir Khusru‘s most known Kalam which is basically a penned version of his imagination of devotion and the joy of oneness with the eternal one.

In a very very simple way our Honourable Sincere Sensitive Dedicated SitarVadak Ustad Sujat H.Khanji speaks out his inner feelings before the visitors where he plays ..
    as I have marked.
When he plays,I feel as if I am before Ma Ganga, sitting on her ghat in Varanasi..where she is flowing before me...dancing with all her ripples..and now how to give any more comment here,I know not.
    High Regards with folded hands.

Khansaheb is one of my all time favourites and its a pity there are so many adverts which just spoils the wonderful music. I don’t know if anyone else experienced so many adverts.

Pay for premium if you don't want ads, remember the days of cable network when 20minutes of content had 10 minutes of ads accompanied by it?

No thanks, there are plenty of other videos where one can enjoy this great music and the people uploading understand the music too. Our ICM is not a medley of songs where interspersed with adds can work well.
