    the telecaster/broadcaster design is the most beautiful design Ive ever seen in a guitar, mostly because of its simplicity. That isnt to say I dont absolutely love a PRS wood library, but the tele just looks godlike

    I was fortunate to have a really awesome year at work financially this last year and was able to treat myself to one of these in January. It's the heavy relic version and I have to say it's perfection in my hands. I have 13 other guitars, six of them are Telecasters, most I've owned for a good number of years, this one is the only one I'm playing currently. I thought I'd probably switch the control plate to the Tele version pretty quickly, but honestly, I love the blend knob function and the tones I get using just it and the bridge pickup, I'm going to just leave it as is. The tones of the two neck positions have a lot more contrast then you would think and the small tweaks they added in comparison to the original gives you more versatility than the original dark tone of the forward position. I could go on and on, I'll just say, it's not just another Tele, it has a distinct tone of it's own, and its a freaking awesome instrument, if you can swing it financially. it's worth the price tag!

    How does the neck compare to the current Fender American Original '50s Telecaster? I've played the '50s and love the neck shape, not too large but bigger than the professional line, but I can't get my hands on the '70s to compare the two.

    • @sideasoundlab
      @sideasoundlab Před 3 lety

      They are quite similar. Maybe a tiny bit smaller than the original 50s, but for sure bigger than the professional line. I had an american professional telecaster, with the deep c neck, and it was around 0.83 at the 1st fret, while my broadcaster is 0.9 at the 1st fret, so it's fairly chunkier but still very comfortable. I eventually sold the Am Pro, but there is no way I'm selling this broadcaster, it's such a great guitar.

    Did anyone notice on the telegram from Gretsch. It’s spelled broadcaster with a k instead of a c? So they didn’t have to change it it was already changed?

      It was close enough that Leo and/or his head of sales Don Randall didn't want to alienate a much larger, older company. Fender was just starting out with the solid body guitar, trying to gain acceptance in the marketplace. Not many Broadcasters had been produced, advertising was probably minimal, so I can see how Leo/Don probably thought "let's go along to get along."

    i played one of those and the frets were very high and it had a really weird bass circut on the neck pickup and i didnt want to carry a 2500 dollar guitar around, flying on airlines in an anvil shipping case--alot of guitars came up missing in la guardia and j.k.k--but in 1976-77 that was the price for a broadcaster-- of course know its much more
