Well done. Great colors and the wheels a nicely detailed. Love the dark lips and light centers. Best one I have seen on YT…
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the build. This kit had its challenges but in the end I'm very happy with the final result.
Awesome Job. I haven't touched my kit yet. But I will soon. I'm building mine because my Dad was in construction back in the late 50's until the 70's. He probably Saw one of these on the job site.
Thank you! I'm sure he did see one of these beasts working in that time period. I don't specifically remember seeing an Autocar truck when I was little, but I do remember seeing trucks with a similarly blunted nose. Probably were Autocars, as there are only so many companies that make these trucks.
I’m building this also and this video is a great help.
Thanks for watching, and happy to hear the video is of benefit! This is great when it's done, but it does throw out some challenges along the way.
What a fantastic build video.
I absolutely love your build pace, style and explanations.
Keep tackling these AMT kits (as I do)...turned out to a great looking dump truck.

Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! Glad you enjoyed the video. These AMT kits brought back from years ago can certainly take some patience and persistence to bring to completion, but they always surprise me how good they look once they're done. Modern tooling is wonderful but there's a certain charm to these old kits...or maybe it's just that they take me back to my childhood, sitting at my little hobby area without a care in the world.
I am an automotive builder ( drag cars mostly ), and these AMT rigs are NOT for the faint of heart. All skills come into play when tackling these behemoths. I am getting prepared to start the American LaFrance pumper/ladder. I want all your JuJu pointed in my direction.
Im gonna need it...
Yes, you definitely have to be mentally prepared for these AMT big rig kits. Between most of the tooling being quite old, some Byzantine build steps, and some issues with warped parts, there are quite a few challenges. That said, the road travelled makes the final product all the more satisfying. Take your time, be patient, test-fit, test-fit, test-fit, and be ready for unexpected issues. I send you much JuJu!
Hello again from New Zealand . I finally got around to finishing this video. It seemed like it fought you all the way but the end result looks great.! Well done on your perseverance. I was a bit dubious about your choice of colours at first but in actual fact they look pretty good in the flesh.
Keep up the good work.
Looking forward now to viewing your recent builds.
Gary.
Thanks for watching! Yes this kit did pose a number of challenges but it all worked out in the end. When I look at it on my shelf in some ways I appreciate it more for the effort it took to complete to a decent form. And yes I had some doubts about the colors during assembly, mainly if the dark green was too dark, but I do like the finished product. Stay healthy!
Look great , im doing a 59 el camino amt .
Thanks! Good luck with the El Camino...they were such unique looking machines. I'm not familiar with the AMT kit but I would venture a guess that they include options to build stock or custom. It's such an eclectic design I for one would be compelled to go with custom wheels, at the least.
Hi Roland, how to straight the bend A pillar? My Ferrari F40 LM bend so bad. Nice video btw 👍👍
Thanks for watching! I will assume the A pillar you wish to bend is plastic. Being a Ferrari I'll assume it's a delicate piece. If you try to bend too much at once it will snap. Instead work in increments, doing a small bend and then hold in the new position for a minute or two to overcome the material memory of the plastic. A few rounds of this should get it back into shape. I would suggest using the needle nose plier to do the bend so that you don't get too many waves in the piece. For this work be patient and go in small steps. Good luck!
