    Agreed. Lifted, big hot hatch.
    I have a 2020 Macan S.
I'm single, one child, wanted to be able to carry things, do lots of highway miles, twisty road once a week or so, occasionally drive down a dirt road. Everything I need.

I like your final summary… I’m shopping for a Macan to replace my Subaru. Totally familiar with the hatchback size of Outback’s, Crosstreks, and I really miss my ‘05 WRX wagon. Have had a 987 Cayman, 718 Cayman, and a 997. I get that the Macan isn’t going to perform like those sports cars, but if it reminds my of my WRX with more sophistication and power, I’ll love it.

Get an S/GTS, put the AWE touring exhaust on it, add flat 6 intake filters, and you have a beautiful machine which in its own right is a blast to drive every day.

How are you less than 6’ tall and cannot sit behind your own driving position?? Are your seats slammed all the way back? Honestly a lot of your complaints just sounded like you wanted to complain. However your opinion is your opinion.

My 2018 Macan S is my daily driver and your conclusion is spot on. I drove 3 mazda/mazdaspeed 3 hatchbacks, then moved to a cx5 turbo, then this. I'm used to the hatchback look/style/functionality, and this is the epitome of all of that. You get Porsche's expertise in driving dynamics, brilliant engines, timeless styling, and enough space for a weekend getaway, all while getting decent mpg's. my cx5 turbo i avg'd 21.6mpgs, in my mazda3 i would avg 23.5, and in my macan s I avg 22.5mpg. I put the AWE touring exhaust and flat 6 intakes and it woke it up a bit, sounds like an absolute beast, better power in the 6k rpm range. I love this SUV and can't stop raving about it. After my 60k service, I will tune it to get an extra 70hp and am thrilled. It's easy to manuever, easy to park, amazing to drive.

The essay format. Not sure about it, but if it makes you happy, go with it. I felt the whole way through that you were talking to yourself, trying to answer a question that no one else is asking and you already knew the answer to. I clicked because I’m looking into buying this generation turbo, hoping to learn something, but didn’t. That you’ve had it for two years, would be nice to know reliability, repairs, cost of ownership etc. Maybe you made a video on that already. Not that you have to do content like that, take the channel in the direction you want. I sensed Marques Brown Lee inspiration here?

Hey! Thanks so much for such well measured constructive feedback. I actually only came up with the conclusion to that video while making it. I didn't really want to make just another review, because I'm not sure I'm qualified and there are so many of those out there already. I wanted to do something different and more my style.
Let me try and answer your actual concerns: maintenance has been great. We're coming up on 90k miles and I've just done the basic annual maintenance and had no major issues or breakdowns. They basic stuff is a little more pricy than a more average econobox, but if you're buying a Porsche you should be prepared for that anyway. Only stuff that's going wrong is some of the interior switches are flaking a little bit and the memory buttons on the passenger side are no longer working. A fault with the lumbar pump apparently, but it's still working. It appears to burn oil by design so I'm adding a half a quart to the engine every few months. It'll let you know when it needs it. I'm genuinely hoping I can get it to 200k miles. I haven't watched many of Mr. Lee's videos, so I wasn't intentionally emulating his style. Please let me know if there's anything else I can try and answer for you.

Nice review - I agree with your calling it a "hot hatch," like my previous car which was a MazdaSpeed 3. However, I have to disagree with you regarding the back seat. I am 5'10" and have a 2023 Macan S with 14-way adjustable seats. I am very comfortable driving with the steering wheel pushed all the way into the dash. With my seat set for that arm length extension, there is plenty of room in the back seat for someone my size or even larger. It makes sense that everyone should try the seating arrangement before buying the car, but there are a lot of adjustments that can be made to the seating arrangement. I also don't understand why you couldn't close the hatch, unless you had pushed the box all the way to the back of the trunk, near the hatch opening. But, why would you do that? If you remove the parcel shelf cover and turn it upside down, it fits just fine on the floor in the trunk of the car, so you don't need to put it into your garage. Thanks for your review!

I'm 6'1", and I must say, it's surprising how far back you've pushed your driver's seat. I'd wager that your positioning is off, and you can't touch the top of your steering wheel with your wrist, as is recommended. To further illustrate your point, you could recline all the way and argue that there's simply no space for passengers. Case closed. =)

In 2018 I bought a used 2017 Macan S for $57,000 with 6,000 miles. I didn’t like it. Rough DCT, foggy headlights, turbo lag, bad handling at the limit, 4 recalls, poor dealership experiences. The ride is too rough to be a luxury car, but handling is too sloppy to be considered a hot hatch. Acceleration is okay, but nothing to write home about. I realized this vehicle is not for car enthusiasts. It’s for people who love attention but not cars. I traded it in for a Lexus RC-F and bought a QX80 for my family. I’m done with the fake rich guy act.

Saying the handling is to sloppy at the limit indicates to me that you left the traction control on....as the traction control system is notorious for giving the Macan an unsettling feeling.
The Macan will literally bench similar track times to a BMW M2...so it's handling is hardly sloppy
