Hi , I have a display key that I got with my BMW i8 ,my remote start is actually more like a pre conditioning setting on the car to get the AC running while still approaching the car.

Thanks for the public service announcement. I tried my spare remote key fob for the first time today and started down the road with your video on that. Looks like the dealer (I bought my car used) didn't have a working 2nd key. It won't program. That brought me eventually to this (as I was thinking of the display key) as a replacement/upgrade. Glad I watched your channel. I'll settle for a working copy of the key and remote fob that works!

You have to charge non comfort access keys anyways...
Honestly out of all the issues I think thats the least annoying one. It does come with a remote charger so I don't think its a problem to just throw the key on the remote charger when you come home. Still wouldn't buy it not only because of the ridicilous amount of work required to install it but also because of the security issues.

There is a complete alarm system from Pandora that also has Remote Start and Turbo Timer not needing to keep a key fob in the car. It would be very interesting if you could review it and maybe make a wiring harness similar to the one included with the Smart Key, since it´s similar, need connection to the Can and Can2 bus, brake pedal, hazard lights and so on.
Who else thinks about these fake instagram videos with those remotes which transform the cars shown there? 😂

James Te Huna Not that easy to make a key like this. Would take a lot of time and resources and someone that’s very familiar with the BMW security system which is different for each chassis!

One thing I can’t figure out, when you precondition the vehicle using the key, how does the car know what temperature you want? That option isn’t there?

Are keyless ignitions not meant to let you drive off without the key nearby (after already using it to start the car)? I ask because every keyless ignition car I’ve interacted with has never prevented me from driving off without it (after I’ve already started the car). Instead, it will notify me that the key is no longer detected and it will not be possible to start the engine if turned off.

Try pandora alarm, it use an apps to control all the functions just like Tesla and you don’t need to leave a key in the car for remote start.
