  • Check out my review of the new Netflix limited series, Inventing Anna!
    In Inventing Anna, a journalist with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene - and stole their money as well. But is Anna New York’s biggest con woman or is she simply the new portrait of the American dream? Anna and the reporter form a dark, funny love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and our reporter fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey? The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler.
    Inventing Anna premieres globally on Netflix on February 11, 2022.

      Well this bleeds into the problem with influencer culture. Like Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos, Berney Madoff, Billy McFarland of the Fyre Festival the knew how to network the right people. The said said the right things and they were confident about what they talked about.

      The problem is is us do we support them because we believe in their vision or their personality? is the question not asked that maybe we should ask more of because this fake it till you make it is allowed because we don't ask that critical question.

      The problem is financial crimes are not victimless crimes especially because many things such as retirement plans, health care and more rolled into investments these banks are involved and these are large variety of working class people who also got swindled. Not directly but they did.

    it is all fun and games until u are the one being swindled. she had a very self-oriented agenda and she manipulated ppl emotions to make them feel both accepted and trashed by anna sometimes within a 5 min timeframe! and thats after they were too on board with her crazy dreams she sold to just magically wake up and leave. the only wholesome part of this series wuz the scriberia teamwork...sad, really.

  • @supaspydamn

    Just chill? I was never rooting for Anna! It's so toxic to use people and call them your friends. No shade. If you think that her friend from Vanity Fair was too whiny you've obviously never been to Morocco... In some countries there are no rules and they're lucky to have made it out of there alive.

    • @missprettyone
      @missprettyone Před 2 lety +1

      I agree!!! I didn't care for Anna at all!!! Yea she may have been cunning but she was also manipulative and a user! And I don't see how people thought Rachel was wrong for what she did. They were in a foreign country and in a dangerous situation not being able to pay for their stay. And for Anna to not pay her back! I would have sold her out too she was playing with her livelihood!

      This!!!! I was like girl would have had to give up her card anyway, cause they would have found out Anna couldn’t pay and no one want to end up in jail in another country where you don’t know the language. Anything could go down. Honestly she probably shouldn’t have gone on the trip. But hindsight is 2020

    You can't just go "Well she got money after the traumatic event" to excuse the traumatic event. She used her friends. He lied, she manipulated. Yes, men are worse and this exposes flaws in the system, but that doesn't excuse her shitty behavior. And stealing from hotels and banks, do you not think there were people she got in trouble, because I do.

    I was conned when I was 20. I "lent" this very charming person money that I really couldn't afford losing. After some time I was able to get some perspective on the whole event and came to the painful conclusion that I was a willing participant. I can't say I wanted to lose that money but I ignored a voice telling me that I really didn't have a reason to trust this person. I am looking forward to watching this show.

      No. I'm sorry but this just blames the victims. What if you have a disability? What if you are not well versed in social graces? It is scary that people will blame the victim and that could lead to agency being taken away from.people because of liars and manipulators.

      @@annen8331 You're right. I was a victim. I stopped being a victim when I took my power back. There were a lot of red flags that told me that I was being taken advantage of. I ignored them because I was being romanced. I resolved to use this as a learning experience. If an unemployed, but beautiful & charming, man wants to borrow money from me that is a red flag. It's also helped me in other areas of my life. I don't lend money that I can't afford to lose.
