  • In this next route learning video, we take a Southern Class 377 from London Victoria to Brighton on a stopping service via Redhill. We follow the timetable of train 2A16, the 06:17am departure from Victoria. Along the way we call at Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Purley, Coulsdon South, Merstham, Redhill, Horley, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Preston Park and Brighton.
    Please note that the blank signal at the end of Merstham platform is supposed to be a diverging route flashing double yellow aspect.
    The scenario for this video is available on Steam workshop. You can find it here: steamcommunity.com/id/ptgreens...

    Great work!

    Great Video, I sign that route, and this is pretty accurate but there are no flashing yellows at stoats nest junction in real life, and no flashing yellow at Purley Oaks or Merstham. It seems that the developers have put flashing yellows approaching every junction. Your commentary is excellent keep up the good work.

    Just so you know, the running brake checks should be made by drivers on every train when they take it over:
    "4.6 Carrying out a running brake test You must test that the automatic brake is working properly by carrying out a running brake test. When you carry out a running brake test, you must do so from a speed that is high enough for you to be sure that: • the brake is operating effectively • the speed of the train is being reduced.
    Locomotive-hauled trains and HSTs You must carry out the running brake test at the first opportunity after beginning the journey. You must, if possible, also carry out a running brake test in good time before approaching: • the first stopping place • a crossing place on a single line • a steep falling gradient • a terminus or dead-end platform line.
    Multiple-unit trains When working multiple-unit trains you must carry out the running brake test as shown in your train operating company instructions."
    Great video as always!

    Really loved this video, comparing it with previous ones your driving technique is excellent now, if you ever drove a train I was on I'd feel completely safe. Just one thing: I seem to remember from a previous video (can't remember which one) you said that it would be helpful if there was a document or something which detailed things such as line speeds and distances. So in relation to that, I don't know if you have heard of the Network Rail sectional appendix. If not this is an official document that gives up to date linespeeds, route distances and diagrams as well as operating rules such as use of the DRA, higher permissible speeds (MU and HST speed limits etc) and running brake tests and so forth. While only pertinent to Train Simulator on accurately modelled routes and can be an interesting read and can be useful for finding out good locations to watch trains at speed. For the sectional appendices simply type into Google: Network Rail sectional appendix and then the area (Scotland, London North Eastern, Anglia etc.) Hope this is of use to you in some way, thank you very much for taking the time to make this and your other videos and I look forward to the next one immensely. Regards, Ben.

    Hi Peter love the video!After watching many of your videos, you have inspired me to get the game itself! Thank you!I have a few questions:How do you press the close door/interlock button using the keyboard?(assuming that is what you press twice when the doors are closed in reply to the conductors two)How do you open the windows using the keyboard?(If possible)How do you adjust the speed set using the keyboard?(Again if possible)Finally, please may you make a 5 minute video of the cab inside the 377. Could this be a video which tells us what every single button does and how to press it on the keyboard?Thanks

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  Před 8 lety

      +Michael Farr Thanks! I hope that you enjoy this game when you get it! :) The doors close themselves on the majority of trains within TS so the process is automatic. When stopping at a station though, you need to open the doors by pressing 'T' (even on slam door trains lol!). After the doors have closed, on some trains you will hear a buzzer or bell, and then you press a key to respond. This key can vary depending on the train and whether or not you have a sound pack installed.. but is usually 'C' or 'N'. As far as I know you can't open the windows with the keyboard, so I used the mouse. Just click and drag. The same with the speed set on this particular unit - you have to click and drag it. On some other units with speed sets, you operate it with the 'Y' and 'C' keys. It really does depend on the train. As for the video request, I will take it into consideration as part of my 'train guide' series of videos. :)

    I think there is an error in this route. The 75mph speed board after the second signal after clayton tunnel is not correct. The 75mph speed board just before the next tunnel is, so I think that the first speed board in reality is actually a morpeth board.

    • @PTGRail
      @PTGRail  Před 8 lety

      You are correct on that. In the opposite direction the 90mph speed limit starts before Patcham Tunnel in reality, but it doesn't start until close to Clayton Tunnel in TS. The 60mph speed limit at Balham also starts too early in the up direction.

      +Factory Chase I do where they are needed. In this case, the scenario is based a couple of years ago in the FCC era. The reason for this is that I would be asking people on Steam workshop to download too many reskins to make this scenario to work otherwise.

    @Happytap1239 Před 4 lety +1

    Yeah, whenever I'm at a station where it's fast line platforms don't have any trains stopping there, it just makes me annoyed as why bother making 2 platforms with an entrance, full platform and train time boards if no train is going to stop there in the first place! I just see it as a waste, and if they did keep them, at least use them for something useful!
