Hello, firstly allow me to congratulate you on imo probably the best channel on YT fir articulation, knowledge, delivery, standards and excellece! Ive purchased an f10 520d tt. Unfortunately it has the basic audi, and as an audiophile, im itching to change it. I refer to the ali express link here (10/3) Being a person with zero knowledge or expertise in fitting things, can i ask how much i should anticipate paying for fitting of all speakers and amp? Hi, upgrading my 530d GT speakers. I don't have a dash center speaker from factory but bought a set for installation. Can't seem to find the cable in the enclosure?

Nice to see an F10 audio upgrade video. I'm going for an upgrade myself. Decided to splash for the professional DSP system. Is it worth the money due to the cars worth? Sure I'll keep it for another 5 years and I'll write off 10 euro a month...and when the time comes to sell it'll be slightly easier to sell. And mostly I enjoy the music more.
What I found out is there are 4 sound options in euro spec F10:
1. The standard speakers 2 in the front door and 2 in the parcel shelf. No subs
2. The HiFi system. No MOST bus more speakers incl. subs. Dont know the rest of the details as I'm not going to the trouble to retrofit this one.
3. The professional audio/DSP S677 which has 2 speakers in each door (also rear doors) 2 sets under the parcel shelf, and 1 under the dash and the subs. According to the parts catalogue they use the same speakers as the HK S678 sound system which does have a different amplifier both with incomming audio via MOST.
4. The Bang&Olufsen High End S6F2A. Found a used set for over 2000 euro. Not going there. The LEDs are a nice marketing touch...maybe someone can explain how this improves the sound :D
Regarding some of the comments I don't see the use to code anything when you do not have the HK amplifier. Most likely it will output the sound from the radio over most instead of the speaker wires. So no gains to be had. Also the control in the CiC are executed in the amp which isn't there.
Oh and I do hope people realize Ali Express does not sell genuine BMW parts? Not a real problem as the speakers still sound the way they do. I do have an issue with the cloning of the brands. Local ebay is filled with junk for near "real part" prices. :(
You said it quite well regarding the cloned products sold on ebay at huge prices. My view is that at least when you buy it from aliexpress you don't think is original and you don't pay crazy prices. With these speakers, I was thinking that they will be clear knockoffs, but looking at them I could not find any reason to say that they are. let me know how you progress in the retrofit. As an update, although It is not the best technical thing to do, I have also installed the central speaker and connected it in parallel with one of the rear ones. Over all the sound is improved vs basic, but it is lacking bass and power.

My advice is that you also do the AMP Upgrade.
The real HK speakers vs the aliexpress HK knockoffs they are not the same sorry!
One other problem that you might face is the lack of power to feed them - impedance and nominal power
Nominal Power is the require power needed to run the speakers at optimal performance without stress on the speakers, Amp or the amp chip of the Radio (Base)
If the system is decompensated, we may ruin the radio, amp or speakers.
The OEM HK Amp is a Class D Amp with some DSP functionality and output 600W.
The amp receives and decodes the up to 5.1 data from the MOST bus, performs Dolby Pro Logic II Digital Signal Processing on the 7.2 audio,
converts it to analog and amplifies (600 W total) into 7 channels at 50 watts/4 oms for the mids/tweeters), and 2 channels at 125 watts (the subs, 8 ohms impedance)
AMP 600 W
2 times 125 W (8 Ω) bass,
7 times 50 W (4 Ω) mid- and high-tone
The HK 16 speakers
2 underseat woofers - 90W,
7 mid-ranges - 45W
7 tweeters - 20W
HiFI = 12 Speakers - 5 midrange + 5 tweeters + 2 Sub
AMP 205 W
2 times 40 W (2 Ω) bass,
5 times 25 W (4 Ω) mid- and high-tone
Replacing the speakers "only" may unbalance the system, we may be ruining the speakers due to lack of power as we will increase the volume to compensate some lack of power, leading to clipper in some frequencies that may ruin the speakers, and the amp may be on constant stress if he does not output per channel Nominal Power of the Speaker + at least 10%.

Hi , I did this update including the subwoofer. But my current problem is no or zero bass after this upgrade . Any idea what went wrong ? I did a some 2mm damping material in the subwoofer plastic container is this situation is because no space in the plastic container? Your input would be really appreciated .
maybe you did not connect the subs

@@BestCarMods The damping done on subwoofer was closing the airways .. redone that now the bass is back in action. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm upgrading at least 1 car per month. After you install this speakers you need to change/code the settings of your navigation from standard stereo to hi-fi or HK sound (depending what type of navigation you have CIC or nbt,nbt professional). The coding makes the sound more clear and louder. I believe BMW made the stereo system sound bad... That's the case in EU.
USA standard is hi-fi.
There's a few providers for speakers like audison,vibe,match, Eton, Focal etc.
Amplifier match, Eton, mosconi, vibe, audison.
The stereo front speakers wires go to subwoofers.
To upgrade the subs you need to cut the wires and add new 8 inch subs and amplifier. But in my opinion is not worthy. The base is not going to be great with anything except a boot subwoofer with a custom box or new custom boxes under seats and a hole for air.
Thank you for your input. Let's discuss it a bit more. In my case we have CIC, I have changed the speakers (door + back) only, no amp ... would you still code the car? also when coding you add in VO code for HK or just go to HU_CIC and find somewhere the option of system.
@@BestCarModsIf you're coding for sure the sound will be different in a good way. Some of the early CIC navigation will not have HK option and in this case best option is hi-fi.
I never code the hi-fi or HK with e-sys. I'm doing with Bimmercode in expert mode.
I will take a look and come back with the answer.

@@brook15lynn hello I have bmw g30 but if you set hifi or hk settings the car audio will by playing quiet or not? In base g30 the head unit is working as amp and when you put hk mode with bimmercode what happens then?
@@gumowyfantomas some head units reduce the sound after changing from stereo to HK or hifi ... Not all, most of them increase the sound after coding, that's the case for most BMWs. From 10 cars 1or2 decreases the sound. In this case you will need an amplifier .
I see they offer a DSP amplifier too -- I wonder if it's any good.

I'm asking because I have F30 LCI with HK from factory. And couple days ago I've ordered B&W dashboard speakers: 4 inc midrange with tweeter for testing purposes

You do know that the base speakers ohms and HK speaker ohms are very different right? Because you have no amplifier you will burn your headunit with these speakers....
Your question got me thinking ... now let me try to find out more ... although is not a clear indication of the speakers impedance I have just measured the resistance of the Original speakers = 3.5 Ohm vs the HK =3.8 Ohm should we/could we consider both 4 Ohm speakers?

Was thinking of what other implication might be regarding this mod and started to consider that if we want to be very precise, the thing that will change is the fact that we are installing the mid + the tweeter in parallel. So if my knowledge of physics helps me, the over all resistance will change. And if we factor that the subwoofer is on the same channel and we say that that all are 4Ohm .... we will calculate 1/Rtotalchannel= 1/4+1/4+1/4 => Rtotalchannel= 1.(3) Ohm vs standard 2 Ohm ... now I don't know if that is that big of an issue in the Real world and also if the influence of the tweeter is that big with regards to the overall resistance.
