The BMW dealer you have referred to, if it was me, I would have to say something to them, not in a angry way but I would as the manager if you could have a quiet word, question if BTW are treating them badly (something that doesn't make it sound as its their fault) and be honest with him/her use words like disapointed for a BTW garage but say it in a way that your praising the company and that they are so fortunate to have a job with a prestigious company. I do my best to try and get on with everyone even if I am not a fan of them, if someone doesn't get on with me it bugs me and I get a need to know why. I talk a lot of b.s. too lol. It is odd though for a BTW dealership. Or just tell me to mind my own business lol

The acceleration was brilliant and when he let me have a go as a 18 year old I never tired that 50 - 70ish (haha) range, I remember the manual said 1st gear was capable of up to 50mph. Plus
the rear wheel drive made it go sidewards around roundabouts. Great fun. I reckon a 5 series is on the cards again at some point, if not for nostalgia alone. Proper stealth car. The six cylinder is so much smoother than the 4 and given the small difference in mpg I think it’s worth going for the 3.0 if you can. After 4 years of ownership I’m supposed to be changing it this year, don’t like the ‘stick on’ screen in the new 5 so might just hold on to this one. I drove the 535d for couple hundreds kilometers on bad roads in Eastern Europe and before driving it I was a bit skeptical about the car, because it looks too chubby, but I was surprised by the handling and the way the steering wheel felt on cornering was very satisfying. Very easy car to drive and very little outside noise and very comfortable for long distance. If you have the money to maintain it properly and if you know how to have fun without blowing the engine or the gearbox- you'll be happy with the car.

Great Review, I have a F10 2015 M sport 520D which I have owned for 8 months now and is currently on 72k, has been driven 9k by me since purchase and I can say it is a brilliant car all round very economical and really cannot fault it. There is one problem I have had since owning was the head unit failing (on-board computer would just constantly boot up and then restart) which was thankfully replaced under warranty, but if this was to be replaced at my cost it would of been in excess of £1500 although there are BMW specialist who can repair for £200. I would recommend buying one of these.

Just sold my beloved F10 530d M Sport saloon after 5.5 wonderful years with it. I completely agree with the review, it is the perfect car for 90 (or in my case 95%) of the time you ever need it. The best thing is ample power, refinement, comfort, quality interior pretty decent reliability. The only negative is that it’s a little big when trying to drive around in small cramped city streets, trying to park in multi story car parks and the run flat tyres can make the ride harsher than it should be. All in all a brilliant car especially if it involves driving long distances in supreme comfort. As my 3rd 5 series in a row (following my E39 and E60) the F10 is a thoroughly recommended.

@@martilofficial7987 My 520d is pretty quiet and smooth for a diesel. It’s no slouch either, feels powerful and fast. The fuel economy is amazing. It’ll do around 45mpg on average, and 50/55 mpg on a long run, and that’s without driving particularly frugally. You could probably get it up 60/65mpg if you kept it in ECO mode and drove carefully enough. It can be good fun in sport mode around the country lanes, but it’s definitely at its best as a quiet, smooth, comfortable and brilliant motorway cruiser. I’ve had mine 8 months now and really love it. No problems at all so far either.🤞I bought it at 42,000 miles and it’s done just over 60,000 now. I’m getting mine serviced every 10,000 miles (despite the 18,000 mile interval set by BMW) just to be on the safe side. All in all, highly recommended! PS. Sadly, I’ve no experience of a 530d so can’t provide a comparison I’m afraid.

I test drive both the 520d and the 530d and opted for the former mainly because of the smoothness of the 6 cylinder, it just felt like a luxury car should. This said, it has not been without problems. I have had the instrument cluster go caput even though my car is only 4 years old. Thankfully bmw agreed to pick up the cost of 2.5k!!
