Spoiler alert, this was a bit of a fail. The engine is now teared down and handed in to a machinist for oringing.
Before tearing down the engine, the bike was ridden up and down the street and it showed a lot of potential - it pulls more like a 500 despite the leaking gasket. However with this extra power, the clutch slips like crazy, despite fresh clutch plates and heavy duty springs. We are looking into potential modifications to avoid this. Keep checking in to catch the next update - hopefully a sealed engine and working bike!
Happy wrenching and happy riding!

Hey Jake - the bike looks stunning. Never saw anyone on CZcams ever put this much love into an sr250.Makes me want to keep mine for decades to come!
Beautiful machine. Nice work!
Great vid - Always good content from you Jake! :) Love it!
Cheers man! Great store you've got :)
I have one rewired....
But now in disarray, no spark. Must change the black ignition electronic box. I left it sitting idle, because driving ISUZU D-MAX is so much safer in Thailland's crazy scary traffic conditions.
Great looking bike Jake, I'm sure you'll sort it. At least you don't have to take the motor out for the head gasket!
Please keep it up, small bike go fast!
Hi Jake, looks great I am sure that you will get the 100 miles! The sound is amazing. Witch shocks measure do you have?
Thanks man! Those shocks are YSS and are 340mm eye to eye :)
I’m jealous of his fuel canister, American ones are plagued by difficult to use safety devices
Hello
Thanks for your great effort.
All the parts I bought was excellent 👌
One question; could this bike be functional without a battery?
thanks
Thanks for the feedback! Yes you can run without a battery but you will need a large capacitor instead. But they are not much smaller than a 4cell lithium battery so not much point in my opinion!
the headgasket would explain the compression issue! ill be waiting for the updates!
Exactly! This was like a 'duh' moment for me afterwards ;)
I'd have thought the lack of pressure initially was down to a closed throttle.
Unfortunately it was a leaking head gasket that was the culprit.
Did you use a kick start from a tt250? I dont recall sr250s having kick start
Correct. The bulk of the parts are from a wrecked 1980 XT250 but some of the small parts had to be sourced from CMSNL.com
@@JadusMotorcycleParts nice! Think I want to do the same.
We got your seat and alot of your other parts. A few years ago. Life happened and bike got put off. But back at it now.
I'll send pics when its all finished this summer
Thanks
Xe của tôi nó k có cần khởi động. Đang bị hư đề :(
Can't find this same model in the Malaysian markets, I was wanting to get one to customise into like a retro chopper, this one or the xv250 but Welp can't find this one.
I think the SR250 was only available in select markets.
@@JadusMotorcyclePartsI have one. Near Ubon/Mukdahan. Thailand. Never saw another one.
when is the battery relocation bracket back on stock ?
All parts are in stock and available from our reseller: modelikocaferacers.com/gb/248-yamaha-sr-250 :)
Hi, where can I get those rear sets from, cheers.
Hi! The brackets are custom but the rearsets you can purchase from ebay. Search for: TEC Universal Folding Alloy Rearset Kit
@@JadusMotorcycleParts Thanks mate.
How high is the rear shock?
340mm Eye to eye :)
