Good on ya mate. I got my 3RS as my dream car. That Speedster is absolutely divine and the colour and interior gorgeous. The GT3RS is the track weapon for me but that Speedster is THE GT Dreamer for the street. Congrats and safe driving :)

Thanks Stephen. The Speedster is actually dark blue. I used a new camera guy for this one and it seems like there was a small issue with the audio. To be fair it was quite rushed. I drove down to Miami for the afternoon and we had a few hours of sunlight left.

Absolutely gorgeous Deep Blue Speedster. A GT dream car for the road.
According to JCR it's not really the filters diluting the note on these cars, rather it's the rear silencer doing the job due to the WLTP regulations.
Either way it is not very loud
Super review. I have owned a 981 spyder since March 16 from new. I can see why you think spyder and speedster are similar. Not sold on the new 718 spyder as an upgrade like yourself. 30k and less sound! David.
The 981 Spyder is so so good. I love the look of the 718 Spyder but I am not spending £90-95k on one and then another £3-5k on an aftermarket exhaust.

Not only were you incorrect about the redline being 8500 RPM, you kept repeating it for some reason 🤔! That blue exterior and the tan leather interior, looked amazing together though 👌.
Hi Terry. If you look at 6m 36s you will see the that red line starts at 8500rpm. The limiter or cut off is at 9000rpm. So the sweet spot is between 8500rpm and 9000rpm.

How does the manual feel compared to the box in your 997 GT3?
Nothing about this car compares to my GT3 RS 4.0 unfortunately, however the 4.0 is a track car and the 991.2 Speedster is a road car. So it feels softer in every sense. The gearbox is much smoother, in the 4.0 you really have to use a little force to engage each gear. All that said, having the roof down in the Speedster adds so much fun to the driving experience. I don't think the Speedster is worth over £200k thought, not when the 718 Spyder is so good at less than half that!

We are not sure about the particulate filters. You will have to ask Porsche USA

They’ve really killed the sound of the flat 6 with the particulate filter. Still a lovely car though.
This one didn't sound too bad, but that's because I had the roof down so you can hear everything. However, all modern cars sounds a lot quieter and if you like noise you either get an aftermarket exhaust or an old model.
888MF yes....unfortunately it’s the ways things are heading. I reckon the 4.0 and back catalogue of NA engines is the way to go.

Was it worth 4 times the price of your Spyder?
I was waiting for someone to ask that question!! I would say that the 718 Spyder is nearly as much fun, but the Speedster looks so delicious, especially in this PTS blue and heritage interior. As I said in the review, it has very similar characteristics. A 718 Spyder will cost you £95,000 and the list on a Speedster is around £230,000 so its around 2.5 times as expensive. Ultimately you're buying a limited edition car and paying a big premium for that. It is lovely to drive though and being a 911 it has something special about it. So the answer is this: Both are great cars!!

Revs up to 9000 rpm yet the engine sounds muted, the old car that it replaced is far better that his Porsche without engine, induction and exhaust noise, yet I'm told it's a sports car because it goes fast.

This would be very interesting if you could hear the narrator over the music. When the music isn't playing, the echo is maddening.
Buy these cars in the Australia and they come without particulate filters. Same with the 992. :-)
They should include this car as one of the regular annual run of 911's.Not make it LTD ED. Let it be available to any one who wants one. And not need to have owned 3 911's first. And add the option for the PDK. Why not have more choice?

If they made a 992 GT3 Touring then that would be the car for me. If they made a mid engine version of that car (sacraligous, I know) then wow. The GT4 is great, but it just doesn't have the look that the 911 has.

a limited Porsche is always expensive. There are only 2000 of them worldwide and the increase in value is guaranteed. in 2 years it will not be available for less than 500,000.
If you have the money and are smart, you should buy two. keep one and sell the other in 5 years.
