The Speedster is a purebred road car and one of the most accomplished sports cars on the planet, as well as one of the most enjoyable cars ever from behind the wheel.
I never thought I’d ever say that about a 911 soft-top, but this car is a spectacular triumph in every regard bar its sky-high asking price.

Amazing. It changes colour when you drive it as well
Luck Ding Wong color
@@tallynguerra2012 Mr Trump has banned the word color around here...we have to use colour instead.
I thought all Porches did that, a cool silver or grey when parked, turning a bright color reflecting the driver's personality when thrashed.
And it also changes the side of the steering wheel
This has to be one of the best reviews on the channel, bloody awesome
seeing this car get driven tastefully makes me happy
Great review Caradvice, and fabulous you could get some hands on time with this!
The S38 engine on my 1988 BM M5 had individual throttle bodies. The S14 from the E30 M3 also had them. Several other reiteration of BMW M engines have ITBs.
Good review. People rave on about ITB's in road cars like they don't exist. Hell, an old R32 GTR had them as well as he e46 M3. And they ain't exactly modern cars !
Very interesting how you change the color and steering wheel between edits...wow.
TopSecretVid 😂😂😂😂
One of the biggest screw jobs from our “freedom loving” governments is LCT,on this car it would be over $125k for the right to own a car now that’s real discrimination. Because I’m a car enthusiast I have to pay tax and the guy who isn’t pays zero . And don’t forget another $30k for stamp duty
Australia the lucky country
More than that a Ferrari 488 gtb tax $200000 drive away $510000
Outstanding. I've said it before, there are too many superlatives or maybe not enough.
can we buy additional button for the roof?
Would you buy a Porsche 911R or Speedster? Both approximately same value and price at this point....
These Itb’s are first in a Porsche, but they’ve been around for a while. Bmw has had them since the e9x m3.
"Since E9x" is a very wrong statement. BMW had them already in E30 M3 and E34 M5 in the late 80's
Early Bird regardless they were around in production BMW’s I was familiar with the e9x because I owned one.
Blows me away that at this price point you have to manually drop the roof.
now thats the real deal
Another 991 variant? Sheesh how many variants do they have? 30?
There should not still be a manually operated roof in a convertible in 2019. It’s like having manually operated windows in an expensive modern car
There is no A/C 2. No need to be in this one.
The idea is that you should always drive this car with the roof down and the roof should be a last resort
Lol, it's a sacrifice for weight saving, true car people understand, this car is not for you. Get a boxter to go with your mini van.
Then you clearly don’t understand this car
Awesome car. Why do people refer to kilowatts when talking about hydrocarbon fueled cars...?
Because a kilowatt is a metric measure of power - not just electricity - and is the unit of measure used in the Australian market. I hope this helps.
@@Drivecomau Thank you. I only thought of kilowatts in terms of electricity. When did this become the norm ? I remember horse power. It seems like a transitionary term to move people towards all things ev.
The CarAdvice test to see who gets to do the review... Is the car $100k+? Tony: "I'll do it"
Maybe it’s insurance reasons. Maybe he is the highest skilled driver and is the only one allowed to drive it
Individual throttle bodies never used in a road car engine before this? Wrong. Plenty of BMW M car engines over the years have utilized individual throttle bodies, including the engine in the e92 M3’s V8.
Hey friend! Enjoying the uploads.
The sad thing is you are paying double for hardtop GT3 that performs better.
The only sad thing? You won't even get a chance to sniff the exhaust fumes.
@@fishtherapy100 u mean cancer causing fumes? no thanks.
If they are all “sold” then why is Porsche allowing me to build one on their website??
It's configurator for those who want to see how their car looks. If you build one and go to the dealer, they'll say the same in video. Sorry, we're sold out
Bitching ha? Any way they can get you through the door..
Dreamin'
Wait, the roof isn't automatic?
How ridiculous is the Australian price for this car
What’s with the drive pics of a red car? You were showing a silver car st the start and the in-car video is with a silver car as well..the red car has a different driver and is left hand drive
It’s from another channel YOUCAR
They’re all sold .. or spoken for ..gee,! I can’t get it now ?
I only have one memory of 911
Passenger: "Sun is out whoo hooo. Where's the button to put the sunroof down?"
Driver: "Hang on gotta stop the car to the side of the road, get out and manually put the sunroof down."
Passenger 2 min later.." WTF?.. How much did it cost again?"
Driver: "Don't wanna talk about it".
The fact that you can post this comment shows how much you miss the entire point of this car...unbelievable
@@threepedalrebel1266 pot calling kettle black with yours
It's a rational question but you have to remember their target customer. You can't normally buy porsche special editions. For those lucky few, it's not about the automatic roof. It'll be about the the weight savings and the looks of it. Just FYI there are many multi million follar cars that do this. Koenisegg, pagani, laferrari aperta and avetador roadsters lower down the spectrum
@@masalbugdov8123 EIOA • 34 seconds ago
If you're clever enough to build a $600,000 car, you should be clever enough to install an automatic Sunroof and keep overall weight down.. and speaking of looks, it's never a good look having to pull over in the emergency lane on the freeway to put the sunroof up or down while other cars drive by laughing at you.
@@chrislemb It's 600k Aussie dollars. In US it starts from 274. About ~400k AUD. And by the looks I meant speedster have that low long back. If you were to add hydraulics or electric motor to it. Would no doubt increase the height which wouldn't look as good as it's now. If they're laughing at a speedster across the motorway, it'll be out of jealousy. Only 20 coming to Australia, it'll be a rare sight.
0:09 Pull the camera back from the car so we can look at it
I’m sorry, but this is another example of an automotive vlogger who thinks his viewers would rather see images of his face than images of the car he’s blabbing on about. The 911 Speedster is one of the most beautiful creations of all time, never mind cars. If I had to estimate, I would say 75% of this video is devoted to this guy’s face! Is anyone else sick of this type of vlogging?
You can buy 2 hardtop GT3 with price of a convertible GT3. Two cars are identical. LOL
Except the gt3 touring is quite a bit faster
@@hchaves27 no it's not. it's slower.
Very simple process ? Anyone spoken to the Miata roof designer ?
I really don’t get why a 600K + car has dummy buttons.....
No a/c. No el. roof. No nothing, just powertrain and weels.
Manualize roof + delete 2 seats = x2 price. I’m wondering how much it would cost if they removed the engine
you have to open the roof manually?? really??
Les talk more of the car
I love it. You pay for a 300k+ usd car and get a manual flimsy soft top. Btw, it doesnt look easy to change the top at all. It's a work out from just watching the guy.
one to buy in uk if anyone interested
You relly need a camera man ,
Individual throttle bodies aren’t unique to this car, other cars before it like the E9x M3 have ITBs.
Top point. I also mentioned it above Cheers
300K and manual labor for the roof?
Audio thanks to the famous Potato Microphone.
Meaning I can't own this car if I am a Wheelchair user.
Oh how sweet the dollar is
Beautiful car..a fool or a lazy person will not be tempted to purchase..
This car costs $415 USD in Australia!! What a JOKE. How can you live in Australia if you even remotely like cars?! Crazy stuff.
Blame socialist in government that punish successful people, don't vote left parties ever
El peje
This guy's camera man SUCKS! minutes into the clip n I still haven't seen a FULL shot of the car. ANNOYING!
Boring!
Looks crap
I'll stick to my favorite 911 R, this the ugliest 911 variant for me
the roof is manual. bugger that
I know right!!! When he leaned into the cabin to push that button I really thought we'd be watching a ballet of the roof and buttresses... But nope. Great car otherwise though.
To save weight ...
@@robertkopp873 It dose not need to save weight, its a road cruiser and maybe the odd track day for fun. Its not made to break track records. saving 30kg isn't going to make a difference . I bet it was due to space more then anything.
Should have an option for automatic. The old collectors might break their back . I see lawsuits in the future
Limited edition... You know why people buy it for right?
First!
Great review, keep up the good content...Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is the way!
