  • In this video I have covered detailed information on the brakes and brake pad issues in 4 different topics.
    Below is the time stamp for each topic for ease of skipping to the particular topic:
    Topic 1: Different types of brake pads I have used in my Honda H'ness CB350: 2:21
    Topic 2: Specifications and performance of Organic, Ceramic and Sintered Brake pads: 10:35
    Topic 3: Why Rear Brakes are not as effective as front brakes: 18:39
    Topic 4: Braking points and Gear control to get maximum out of brakes: 22:20
    Below are the readings of brake pads thickness of the various brake pads I have used in my Honda Highness CB350 after almost using them for the same duration of almost 8000-8500kms:
    Front Brake Pads:
    Honda OE Organic brake pads: 1.8mm
    Nikavi Sintered brake pads: 5.0mm
    Vesrah Ceramic brake pads: 5.2mm
    Rear Brake Pads:
    Honda OE Organic brake pads: 3.5mm
    Yamaha R1 V1/V2 Organic Brake pads: 6.2mm
    Vesrah Ceramic brake pads: 6.6mm

    This kind of analysis is not done by any Indian CZcamsr. We often come across this kind of quality content from the western world countries. No matter if the video takes 30 mins of your time BUT it gives you knowledge for the lifetime. Truely and i can keep saying this everytime, you are a blessing for the Indian riding community with knowledge sharing in the most practical way ❤

    I can confirm like last year i was driving in gurgaon where there were lots of water on road like it was covering half of my tyres, my front brake just stopped working, there was free flow of brake lever, initially i thought it may be due to abs sensor. Now time to shift to ceramic pads. Thanks Raj🙏❤️

    Also, I want to highlight that the tall gearing hinders engine braking in low speed situations. This makes the brakes wear out faster when used for commuting purpose.

    • @RajkaGarage
      @RajkaGarage  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Indeed, taller the gearing lesser the back torque for engine braking.

    Just when I was pondering which Brake Pads to buy for my front on the CB (i changed them with OE just 3k kms back and have come to know that my front brake pads have again worn out pointed out by another Raj's videos that one hint is that the oil level in the master cylinder reduces, so I suspect my front brake pads have worn out again in just 3k kms), Raj sir comes in clutch with a detailed informative video. Thanks Raj sir. Wish your channel all the success it truly deserves. Gem of the Honda Hness CB community.
    Most of my seat time is in the city so, I will opt for the Vesrah Ceramic ones for the lever feel that you mentioned. Thanks Raj sir

    Appreciate the hard work. It is unbelievable that your Nikavi and Vesrah brake pads look absolutely brand new barely any wear on them. I have a CBR250R C-ABS model and i use Honda OEM semi sintered pads and they hardly last 6000 kms (thats 1 year as per my usage). And I have decent braking habits. Nothing too harsh. There are no scratches on the disc plate either.

Nowadays, in traffic all I can see is Throttle Horn Brake whereas it should be Throttle Gear Down Brake and then horn only if required.

    Sirji, amazing video.. so much long term planning. Brakes are my biggest complaint on the bike. I have had pulsars for 20 years and even the first gen pulsar brakes had better weather resistance than these brakes. Brembo and Bajaj got it right 20 years ago. In CB350 the amount of effort required to slow down makes it difficult to modulate in traffic, so you dont get confidence and you have ride like a saint. Now i dont ride in the rainy season anymore.
    On a seperate note, awaiting your performance improvement video.

    I would like to know about the Vesrah Brake Pads and you already covered it in your video. It is very good to see that Vesrah Brake Pads are extremely wonderful in all your used brake pads. If possible then please make a video on Clutch Cable and Throttle Cable as well as Battery and Battery Charger because I have seen in many videos, there are major problems occurred in BS6 motorcycles due to battery charger.

    • @RajkaGarage
      @RajkaGarage  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks buddy 🙂.
      Most BS6 bikes are suffering with battery issues mainly due to the use of small capacity batteries used by manufacturer to reduce cost and they can afford small capacity batteries due to the usage of LED lights all round.

    If pads are hard DISC will wear out.
    What is the braking effort after changing pads?
    If we use ceramic or sintered, Disc will wear out faster, it is bigger expenditure again.

    Nice comparison of the Stock brake pads & other brands. I had purchased the CB350 around 2 months back. I hove some quires:- 1. At the time of 1st service (690KM),I was advised by the service adviser for getting the both the Disk brakes cleaned by the "Wurth" Brake cleaner at their service centre for which they have charged me, I observed that nothing was done, is it necessary to get both the Disk brakes cleaned at regular intervals?? 2. Service adviser explained the Chain cleaning & lubrication with the "Honda" Chain & Lube,but the very next day after servicing I noticed the Chain was almost dry and there was "Rust",moreover during the servicing, I was looking through the customer Lounge,the mechanic, lubricated the chain with some oil through the oil pump. I asked the supervisor & explained the matter at the time of delivery but he said that was for washing the chain after the engine Oil change and actually they have shown me the ""Honda" Chain & Lube" in the washing Bay and billed the chain cleaning. It was just for making some extra money,now I am cleaning the chain with Diesel and lubricating it with Gear oil 80W 90 GL-5 multi grade which is far better than the service centre done. Kindly Post video on gearing for lowest & highest speed in each gear.
